Hello can someone help me, I am trying to figure out how to dispute my husbands restituation fees, the prison is saying he owes $1200.00 which isn't true, he owes like $300 also they are saying is home is in LA county, not true either, we are all from the bay he's never lived in LA and has no family members there, so does anyone know who we can call to get this straighten out?

Not sure if I can be of help here. The court decides on restitution amount which then follows your hubby to to prison trustee office. Before your husband was transferred he was given a paper showing restituton. Keep in mind the $300 might have been for the current charge...there might have been other prior charges which would not be included with this total. I'd start with the court....your husband should ask the trustee office for an accounting and work back from there. You could also call the trustee office at the prison. They will not give you info on your hubby but ask them where the charges came from...that will at least give you a direction.

As for his LA county home...It's my understanding that an inmates home county is the one where he was charged and convicted. This is the county where he will parole unless he files ( and the parole office approves) an out of county transfer to the bay area where you live.

Both location and restitution amounts being wrong there is obviously a problem. My first thought is that this is a case if mistaken identity. I'm not sure where you got your information (the prison is saying), but I'd start with verifying name and CDC number on all the documents (make them produce it in writing). If you don't have it in writing try having him ask his counselor or contacting records for it.
