I have a protective order in the state where I live. I would like to move to another state. How would I go about obtaining a protective order in the state I plan to move to?

Go to the local domestic violence shelter where you are moving to and they will help you with the paperwork or at least explain what that state requires.

All protective orders are honored state to state. Just go to the courthouse in the county where you are moving to and ask them to register your protective order. They should help you do that and then forward to the local sheriff's dept. to be entered into the system. Make sure they give you a certified copy and keep it with you at all times.
