My son will be arriving at Mahoney Hale Halfway House on November 5, 2008 from ADMAX. I've spent about an hour on the Internet trying to find out about this place but don't see anything real specific. I noticed that there is a women's halfway house but I believe this one is for men. If anyone has any information beside the phone number and address, that would be great! I live in Ocean View on the Big Island so when he does arrive I will be flying over to visit him.

Hello 'Jareds mom, how excited you must be that your son will soon be home. Emotions must be running wild? My mom and I have recently been through that same ordeal. My mom met me at Honolulu airport too........I tell you what, seeing my mom for the first time in 2 years was the biggest tear fest in my life. Its definetly a great feeling to be home. As far as the halfway house, Mahoney Hale is good. When you go to Honolulu to meet him have a bag of his clothes for him to take to the Halfway house. You may want to take is drivers license or I.D and his Social Security card too. The sooner he has his I.D's the sooner he will be able to get out of the house and go job searching. Mahoney Hale is a coed Halfway house, though the girls only have 4 units to the 30 units the guys have. One side of the halway house houses State female inmates. But Federal and State inmates are not allowed to interact with one another whatsoever. Everybody there is really nice and supportive. The staff doesn't bother you much. They don't make you feel like you are an inmate, some will come into your apartment and just hang out with you and your roommates. I hope this somewhat helps you. If you have 'specific questions about this halfway house feel free to ask what you what. I am so happy for you and your family to have your son home.
