I have a question about PIA. My man saw a regional parole officer in Dallas County on the 21st after being sentenced on the 14th. My man has been in county jail since Jan. 11 and was given 445 days back time. He got two yrs. TDCJ. I was very surprised that he saw the parole officer only seven days after being sentenced. The officer wrote on the paper PIA in Process. But, he also said that my man is on the TDCJ list and if he isn't pia then he will catch the chain. I went ahead and sent off my man's parole packet 5/28 to the officer that came and saw him. I got a call from my man today and he got his blood work done. Does that mean he is about to catch the chain:( or he maybe released out of county and will be home soon??? :DI know its hard to tell what is gonna be next  when it comes to the system but, anyones opinion would be greatly appreciated.

I know they get blood work done before released from TDC. I'm not sure what it might mean in your case but hopefully it is GOOD news! I don't remember my son getting any blood work done prior to leaving county but I'm sure it varies from county to county. Keep us posted and good luck!

They have been on to Dallas County about not doing TB testing of the inmates that are there! Maybe that was what the blood work was about! Sounds to me like they are going to let him out though!

Well, I went and saw my fiance last night and he got a letter from the officer that interviewed him in this letter it said... "Good Luck. Your letters and support packet has been received and will be placed in your file. If transferred to TDCJ then it will stay on file for review. You should be receiving an answer. Let me know if you are transferred to TDCJ. Thanks, the officers name."

He also received a letter informing him that he has to pay 1700.00 for court costs, fees, and whatever else they could come up with. W/in 5 days of being released. If he doesn't it will go against his credit.
When being sentenced nothing was said about these fines and now on top of all the money spent for getting a 2 yr. sentence he gets fined also. I'm so far behind with paying all the bills, attorneys fees, probation fees, now I'm informed that Charlie has to pay 1700.00 for Dallas County + 1900.00 for Rockwall County + sur charges for him to get his license back.:blah: The system doesn't give you a chance to make it. They make it impossible to straighten out your life. How is a person able to get to work with no license or report to parole or probation, and to pay all these fees only 5 days after being released. I'm so far behind that I was counting on him getting out and having his extra income to catch up but, I guess not anymore. The system is set up so people will fell. A man has gotta live. I feel better now that I got that off my chest.

But, with his court date being 5/14 is there a chance the parole board will have their answer before TDCJ comes to pick him up. Or did I just get my hopes up for nothing. I have been told that it could take up to 4 months for the parole board to make up their mind. And TDCJ most of the time picks up inmates 45 days after being sentenced. If the board doesn't have an answer and he catches the chain then it will delay everything. I feel for the people who has loved ones gone for yrs. I don't know how they do it. My world is falling apart and I'm ready for the day he is out and this is all behind us.

First of all take a deep breath. I know this is all overwhelming to say the least and i surely feel for you. To the best of my knowledge TDC will not pick him up until a parole decision has been made. If he is approved for parole he will be released from county and if he isn't approved he will catch chain to a processing unit to be processed. As for the fines, most counties will work with you and allow you to set up a payment plan. I agree that it is very difficult to get ones life back on track after something like this has happened but hang in there and hopefully things will work out. Let us know how you are doing!

Making a wild guess I think that with his back time he is waaaay past his PRD and the parole board will have missed their chance to inform him of it. That would be because they had no clue about him but I don't know that that makes a difference. I think that he has a good chance of being released to mandatory supervision if he is eligible for it. You didn't say what his offense was and some require a minimum of two years.

Oh. PRD stands for Projected Release Date and is the date that he would become eligible for Release to Mandatory Supervision if he is eligible for that at all. It is basically the same as parole if he is released to it and he can be released to MS from county just like parole. I don't think that there is a way to know how long it will take them to decide what to do but right now TDC is doing what it can to make room in their units and maybe that will be motivation for them to make a decision before he catches chain and takes up their bed space and a spot in intake processing but all you can realy do is to wait and see what happens.

About him not having a Drivers License -- He can get a "ID Card" until he's able to get his license back. With the ID card it allows him to do anything that a DL does except drive.
