Well the NYS DOC has screwed us again. As I posted previously, my husband was sent to Southport Corr. Fac. Cadre in Elmira, NY (which was only 3 hours from me - I live in Philly), but when he got there 2 weeks ago, they said he had a medical restriction in his file and that he could not work. The program counsellor said he would try to find a job for my husband so he could stay at Southport and not be transferred back to Gouverneur (which is about 8 or 9 hours away from me). Well last night my phone rang and it was a call from my husband (or so I thought) but when the call finally went through it was his bunkie calling me to inform me that my husband was on the draft and that he would call me whenever he got to where he was going. I was in shock that they sent him back so quickly and didn't have a chance to ask his bunkie any questions. But I was more upset because I was supposed to go visit him this weekend and now he's gone and I will not be able to see him until March or April!! Now that this has all sunk in, I'm kind of relieved because I didn't have a great feeling about Southport. I just hope he is safe and gives me a call soon.

SO SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR FRUSTRATION I KINDA KNOW HOW YOU FEEL I FEEL HELPLESS IN MY BROTHERS SITUATION HE GETS OUT IN 4 WEEKS AND IMMIGRATION IS GOING TO DEPORT HIM BACK TO SCOTLAND IT IS GETTING TO THE POINT I HATE AMERICA AND THERE LAWS. JULIE

I am so sorry this is happening. I know the feelings in the gut, the thoughts in the mind when something like this happens. When 'they' did not send my husband back to where he was supposed to return (after completing a program) I was a basketcase for a few days...sigh. I'm so sorry you won't get your visit. DAMN!! Sending you hugs and I hope you hear from your husband soon!

It is very frustrating not knowing. You will hear from him soon. Waiting is the hardest part. Thats why you have "us" here at PTO. :-)
