 Hi It's me Debi from Virginia. My boyfriend Jack is on death row in Florida and I got alot of wonderful responses when I came onto your site. Anyway I have a question some one might help me with I have a close friend who is also being transferred back to Petersburg Virginia from Mo. and he called and said he heard a rumor that come November there either voting on it or it's comming into effect that there bringing back the 65 percent time served deal. Now I don't know if that applies to everywhere or if he was asking about Petersburg Prisons. Anyway if I am making sence and anyone knows what I'am talking about I'd appreciate some feedback. Thanks everyone .Debi

That would be interesting the 65%. I have another source and I'm going to try and find out about that. Debi, I hope you can help Tereasa with information on the transfer subject. She needs to find someone from MO who is willing to go to Virginia!

Also, I may not be correct, but if the 65% would be accurate, it would have to be with the original 'home' state. For ex. even if Vic. is in VA and they had the 65% incentive in VA, but MA did not., it would be useless for Vic's time while he is in VA.

Ummmmmm that would be great and if it worked for Vic while he was in Virginia, I wonder what 65% of 15 to life would be.???

I think I'll just bank on that he is going to get his appeal and get the sentence reduction, then he would be home on time served! (happy me)!!

Hi Teresa sorry it took me so long to reply. My friend Cheech right now is in the Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Mo. The reason he is there is he had started his sentense out in Petersburg but a few years back he got into a motorcycle accident and now has a prostesis leg. While in Petersburg they deceided to fit him with a new leg and the only place to do that was in Mo.He will be sent back to Petersburg once the leg is fit right.I hope you can get your boyfriend transferred to where you want but i do know it is difficult to that the prisoner has to have a damn good reason for transfers. Take Care Debi

Hi, I'm new here. I'm glad to hear that they actually transfered him and he got medical attention. All I can say to Teresa is don't give up, and have him write requests if he hasn't already. You should also keep calling DOC and the superintendant of the prison where he is.
Would you all please support my petition at: www.petitiononline.com/lazizkmu/ and sign it if you agree. I need thousands of signatures to get the attention it deserves. Thanks!

Virginia is not going to change the law. They are getting money to keep it the way it is. I've been praying that it was true since I first heard it, but no luck. If they did change it my hubby would be released immediately.

Virginia is stuck in it's ways, but it is still the people, the voters and citizens who can make a difference and at least push for certain laws to change. If it did change, my hubby would come home too. We have a right to help with decision making, and every last person makes a huge difference. I'm so stressed over this stuff sometimes it drives me crazy...but they can't keep em forever!

Theresa--if you haven't already done so, tell your hubby to ask his counselor about an Interstate Corrections Compact to get him to Missouri. If that's where you are, if you can pay for the transportation, have letters from employers, letters from you, and IF VA DOC has a contract with Missouri, you guys should be able to get the transfer. It happens, just not that often, just because it's a lot of work. You might wait a long time, but it's worth it! I'd say push for a trade with Debi's husband but it sounds like he's in a federal prison, am I right Debi?

Good luck to you both!
