Florida DOC's canteen has been taken over by Keefe Commissary Network. I received a new price list and you can view it here: http://mysite.verizon.net/vze2x4cx/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/keefe-canteen.jpg

I assume this list is valid for all of Florida because my friend marked items that death row inmates are not allowed to buy with an asterisk.

Phil - yes they still have honey buns for 57¢ so Joey will still be happy! ;)

Thanks for sharing the list Michelle !! :) Joey wrote me about the changing, but he didn't know the name of the new company.

Gosh, those new honey buns are frightfully expensive !!! They cost only 52 cents before !!! :( Poor Joey, he will have to go on a diet, or I'll have to send him more money !! Well, maybe he could lose some weight !! :D

Thanks Michelle!

I'm confused though, it says entrees...where are they though? I always thought that an emtree was something that needed to be eaten with a fork and put on a plate. Unless of course beef and cheese sticks or canned fish count...my mistake... hoe dare I ;)

I hear ya Bella! They should reword the heading to read, "Oatmeal & Snacks." ;)

Hasn't changed at Charlie's facility (Madison CI Work Camp), but he mentioned they were getting ready to make a change. He's stocking up on ramen now, rumor has it that the new company will be stocking the ramen in a cup - smaller and more expensive. Our poor babies and their "food" - LOL

i'm new to all of this and I was wondering, how do they heat up their food, like the ramen and the frozen food?? Thanks.

The photo tickets are cheaper, $2,06 instead of $2,50 :) Bella, the soups are more expensive, so M. will pay back his debt on the Yankees bet quicker !! :D

Will Keefe also provide the food and drinks for the vending machines in the visiting room, or will it still be Aramak ??

JCsBaby, I "think" (not 100 % sure) there are microwave ovens in the chow hall.

What are photo tickets? Just wondering.

Tickets they buy so they can have their picture taken. Or, like Phil says below - for you both at visits.

Photo tickets are what you have to pay for when you wanna have a pic taken with your honey at visit. :)

Yep he's right, you can go to the canteen and buy your frozen stuff and heat it up then. My poor baby is on CM status so he can't get all that stuff. Plus no lotion, chapstick, conditioner etc. Anything that they could use to lube themselves up to make it hard for the CO's to grab them if they have to be restrained. Poor Travis is addicted to chapstick too! Oh well, November 04 and he should be back in open compound...hopefully!

so my boi can get his picture taken and send it to me since I don't live in florida yet? When can they get the pictures taken? Just wondering. I wanna see if my baby is still in one piece. I miss him so much.

FYI - death row inmates are not allowed to have photos taken during visits. :(

JCsBaby: Yep, he can send you pictures, Charlie sent me the one I posted above and another one about 3 weeks ago. When they take pictures I assume depends on the facility, where Charlie is they do it on Mondays. All he has to do is ask. Nothing quite like getting one or two pics of your Baby to make you smile! Charlie told me the other nite on the phone that he sent me another picture with my "weekend" letter, I should get it today! YIPEEE!!!! :D

My son Shawn is in South Florida Reception Center, South Unit - does he have this type of list too? I have often wondered because he says he eats there a lot because the food is always cold otherwise. Plus he is big on weights and wants to eat more protein. Thanks for the info.Florida DOC's canteen has been taken over by Keefe Commissary Network. This link was posted by Sewergrrl in another thread that was an update of the old canteen providers list. I have copied the link here and will close the other thread so no one gets confused in the future.

Thanks again for the new list!

Put your mouse on the lower right part of the list, and it will ask you if you want to increase the text to a normal size. Left click on your rat, er ... your mouse, and HOP !!! You can read it !! :)

Hope that helps

I don't know about Keefee, aren't you mistaking with Aramak, which is the company which provides food for all FL prisons ??

Just thought I'd let you all know that some of these prices have changed again!!! When I went to see James, the picture ticket cost him a total of $2 that included the tax. He said some things have gone up and some things have gone down. If anyone can get a hold a a newer Keefe list that would be great. i asked james and he said it would be hard. Yvonne

My husband is at UCI and phoned me last night. He said that the canteen prices have doubled. There is suppose to be a contract and they are not suppose to raise the prices, but don't know how to find that out

The contract is here:

http://www.dc.state.fl.us/business/contracts/index.html

Scroll down, it's called keefe commissary. Watch out, there's two of them, c2562 and c2346. c2562 is dated more recently.
