View Full Version : "Drumheller Ductman"s moved to max-security (Surprised?)
Menally-Ill 08-12-2002, 01:33 PM Raymond Tudor, 48, was moved recently, after a review of his security status, by shamefaced Alberta penitentiary officials.
Tudor was missing from Drumheller's medium security prison, between March 26 to May 16, and was considered as having escaped.
Officials were astounded to find out after 2 months, that he had constructed false walls, and trap doors and access holes above Drumheller's woodwork shop, and that he was living in a 7,600 square metre area above the shop, using old paint cans as latrines, and surviving on food smuggled to him by all the other inmates.
After much discussion as to whether or not this could "officially" be considered an escape( since he never left the penitentiary grounds) it was decided that he will face trial on Dec. 18, 2002, on charges of being unlawfully at large, and MISCHIEF.
Tudor, now known as "The Ductman of Drumheller", has been moved to the maximum security Edmonton Institution.
Too bad no one at Corrections Canada has a sense of humour, and the chutzpah to tell the media "See? Here's a prime example that our woodworking program is working. This guys carpentry skills are astounding!"

KConnor56 08-12-2002, 07:14 PM Thats too bad, but we knew they were going to come down hard on the guy. Corrections people don't like being made to look like fools, LOL. Whats really remarkable is that they were able to keep it secret for so long. Prisoners aren't very good at keeping secrets, & there are a lot of rats on a yard.
danielle 08-12-2002, 07:25 PM Poor guy! Wonder what will happen - hope they don't make an example out of him.
tiamotzz 08-12-2002, 09:48 PM so how does doc mail room censors look upon sending transcripts of this kind of activity to inmates? it really is quite humourous and i would like to send it to my friend for a laugh, but i don't want to cause any trouble. a lot of advocacy groups encourage sending thankyou letters to doc employees when they do something humane or decent, but i had this backfire on me when i sent a thank you card to a odoc guard. he had been giving my friend cards and newspapers to look at late at night because my friend suffers from insomnia, always has. so i sent a very generic letter telling the guard that i appreciated the fact that he had treated my friend with respect and decency -that was all-and that i felt it contributed to true rehabilitation. however the guard was cited and moved off my friends block, and my friend given lock up because he refused to tell me not to do that again. he told officials to tell me themselves, and for that he was given lock-up. so what do you think. is it safe to send on humourous stories like this? (by the way the guard told my friend he had received the card and to tell me thankyou)
Menally-Ill 08-13-2002, 11:02 AM I think some states frown on anything from the Internet. They claim it is because the pedophiles and sex offenders might be "trolling" for potential victims. Personally, I think it's just part and parcel of their general aim of breaking communications ties with anyone on the outside.
When I send anything from the Internet, I print it, then physically with scissors cut away anything that identifies websites, email addresses etc. then send it much as you'd send a magazine clipping or something.
THIS PARTICULAR story though may look like you are advocating a prison break, tho. Be careful with it.

~cheenna~ 08-13-2002, 10:45 PM Menolly,
Am so glad you posted this update/continuation of the story. Some time back I sent to my Son the first posting of this story as it appeared in the newspaper up there as well as a humorous story related to a prisoner from Ireland. I'm always sending him anything that has a funny twist to it. I know he'll get a kick out of "the rest of the story".
hugs and
~cheenna~ 08-13-2002, 10:47 PM Tiamotzz,
I'll let you know if there are any repercussions.

I posted the first newspaper article regarding this guy way back when they "lost" him. My man was in Drum before and knew this guy and alot of the "food finders" involved..lol
This story has spread through the Fed system like wild fire here, with inmates smiling for a change and guards a wee bit shamefaced. There are alot of things wrong with Drumheller and I am just glad they look stupid and incompetent right now. In response to the lady asking about forwarding it to someone incarcerated? I, like you, Menolly, cut the addies and stuff off all jokes, poems, etc that I sent to my lovie inside. I do know a girl who lost her visits for sending in an "innappropriate" card in which she had drawn a picture of a stick man climbing over a wall. I saw the card and Picasso she aint..LOL
Be very careful what you send always....notes are being taken.

Menally-Ill 08-14-2002, 12:09 PM Hi Shannon;
It's too bad that Ray's in for double murder, because this could REALLY be a hilarious story, that would become a LEGEND forever, in the Canadian prison system.
But, of course, his convictions make everyone nervous, should he really and truly escape.
Still, I have to respect the guy for getting Corr Cda's Goat! That's one for our side, eh?
