My husband is currently in a county jail as a fed inmate. His sentencing is soon and his lawyer said he needs to pick 2 places. We are in Ohio and have 2 kids. Where are some places you would think would be best. He is non violant and received 70 months

I only know what I have been told on here and read what other people have posted and I'm sure that everyone will agree that Morgantown, WV is the best camp to go to. If your in Ohio like me then maybe ashland, KY could be his 2nd choice so you would be close to him for visits. But I don't know anything about Ashland as not many people talk about it. Heck, maybe it's not even an option I don't know but I can tell you that you should tell him that his 1st choice should be Morgantown. i'm sure someone else will be by to tell you more. Good luck!!

I only know about Morgantown. But I hear that Morgantown and Ashland would be the two to choose. Hopefuilly you will get the closest one so that visiting will be easy.

To be nice, if you can list a first choice, MGTN is it. I was there, its a LOT NICER than ASHLAND (PM me if you want to see some pics of Ashland).

I believe you have to wait 18 months to request a transfer

Do not be deceived. There is nothing in BOP regulations or procedures, and nothing your attorney can do, to assure any designation by BOP. He never gets to pick.
BOP assignments are now all done through their central processing facility, and designation, regardless even of a recommendation by a sentencing judge, is purely at their discretion. Bed space is now, through overcrowding, their primary criteria. Dont expect any guarantee, and certainly no "selection." It dont work that way

We live in Massachusetts and my husband was sent to Morgantown. It was a ten hour drive there for me. I almost died when the US Marshalls office called and told us where he was going. We have Devens prison about 20 minutes away from us. They told us they would keep him as close to home as possible. Yeah right. Thank God he was only gone for about 10 months.
