View Full Version : Questions about visiting at CSP-1
wanderlust852 05-13-2008, 11:50 AM  When does the hotline get updated for CSP-1 - I just called and the information being given is from April 19th.
If you are not allowed on the grounds at CSP-1 until 8:00am - is there a place to line up outside the prison grounds?
Les

I know at Cor 2 they only update the line when there has been a change in visiting status. As for lining up...I haven't been there in a few years, but when I did go, cars would line up outisde on the street prior to 8:00am. Hopefully someone that goes there now will be by with that answer.:)
sanchezct 05-13-2008, 05:45 PM They don't make changes to the line unless there has been a change.
As far as lining up before 8:00 am Nikki is right there is a street right before the prison where people start to line up at. There will be a truck that comes out a couple minutes before 8:00 and hand out numbers. Then at 8:00 you drive in really slowly because you cannot even get on grouns a minute brefore 8:00.
Good luck! What yard are you visiting?
wanderlust852 05-14-2008, 09:51 AM Thanks Ladies - I'm visiting 3B
sanchezct 05-14-2008, 10:29 AM Well i wish you a nice visit. And know that you will be nervous the first visit (who am i kidding you will always be nervous) but we all are. Take an extra change of clothes, call the hotline friday morning and if possible friday night, get good sleep and don't forget to take some money for pictures.
iwiley22 05-14-2008, 05:47 PM hey all im new to your csp-cor site my husband will be there soon not sure which side but it seems that this place have alot of issues. how early do they line up before 8:00 . how are the hotels in the area? do they pass out different pass for the different sides? are there two lines?
poodlegirl 05-14-2008, 10:09 PM At CSP 1, people line up in their cars (especially on saturday and sunday) a block or two from the prison. Here's the thing. You get there at 7 am and you're first or second in line, and you get a low numbered pass. But you could get there at like 8:05 and still get a low numbered pass. The line is not huge. When I show up early, I just drive right in.
Also, I can't speak for 3A or 3B yard, but on 3C, no matter what time you get there, you'll probably only get a 1 to 2 hour visit before you get terminated. (Unless you fall into the 30 day/ 250 mile rule.)
Good luck!
wanderlust852 05-15-2008, 09:53 AM WOW - they terminate visits like that - WOW - Not that it always matters but I do fall under the 250 miles - 30 day Title 15 - I drive from the BayArea.
My other question - Does anyone know if 3B is still no visits?
Thanks
Les

I visit 3B at CSP1 and there HAS been visits for a few weeks now. I've been going on Friday's (every two weeks) and an occassional Saturday. Friday's of course are not as crowded, but at times can get slightly crowded. Are you coming from the LA/OC area? I'm in the OC.
wanderlust852 05-15-2008, 06:30 PM Thanks for the info
I drive from the bay area - Oakland
I was concerned because the recording hasn't changed and I didn't want to drive down and I couldn't visit.
Junior'sQueen 05-15-2008, 08:18 PM WANDERLUST: Have a GREAT visit! I'll be in visting tomorrow (for B yard) too. Are you going tomorrow or Sat/Sun?

Thanks I hope you do the same - I haven't seen my man since September so whatever happens it will be a GREAT weekend. I'm not visiting until the weekend of the 24th so I have to hold my breath another week.
daisy may 05-16-2008, 09:50 PM If you are going to be visiting 3C at Corcoran 1 on the weekends your visits will more than likely be temrinated. The best thing to do is go in about 10:15 or so on Saturday and SUnday and by the time you get processed and he comes out it will be 11:30 or so and you USUALLY do not get temrinated but there is no gaurantee.
iwiley22 05-16-2008, 10:08 PM hey all i just found out that my husband is in 3A05 not sure if they have visits yet but just wanted to say thanks for the info so far. how hard is the visiting at csp-1 also is this yard on lockdown. i called but no update on the hotline.
daisy may 05-16-2008, 11:19 PM CSP-1 hardly ever goes on lockdown. Usually you have to wait 14 days before you can get a visit he needs to go thru classification.,
iwiley22 05-17-2008, 12:16 AM thanks so much for the quick response. we will proballu have visits before mail reaches him. but im hopeful.
daisy may 05-17-2008, 12:20 AM Actually mail only takes about 5 - 7 days here.
thanks so much for the quick response. we will proballu have visits before mail reaches him. but im hopeful.

Hey, I use to visit "A" visiting. It rarely ever gets crowded in there. Especially Friday visits. Sometimes it use to be me & my man with maybe two other couples. They are a little stricter in A versus B. But it's not bad. I go to B now and man, it's pretty chill there.
Have a great visit!
wanderlust852 05-29-2008, 03:08 PM  Thank you Ladies for the responses to my questions. It was my first visit this past weekend to CSP-1 and it wasn't bad just a little different from where he was before. I have to get used to the dollar coins and the fact that you have to show your ID and pop your trunk when you leave the grounds.

Were you there on Saturday? Cause I too was in B visiting. I was one of the three that got terminated early because I visit too often. :D that's why I like Friday's. Glad you got your visit and things went smoothly for ya.

Yes, I was there both days - I was early so we sat in the first row both days - like I said it's a little different at CSP-1 - it was wonderful seeing him after 7 months.
wanderlust852 05-29-2008, 03:32 PM At CSP-1 it seems like they keep track of who visits because at the other place - even though I visited every 31 or 35 days - often times I had to bring up Title 15 so they wouldn't terminate our visits
daisy may 05-29-2008, 04:21 PM They write down the last time you visit on the top of your slip.

Junior'sQueen 05-29-2008, 08:57 PM Yes, daisymay is right, they do write it down on your pass. And lately, I have been visiting almost every weekend. So, I was expecting to get the boot! Especially when it gets that crowded.
WANDERLUST: I was in the middle of the second row. hhhmmm wow, so close. :)
daisy may 05-29-2008, 09:47 PM Also, if you visit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They basically do not count Friday as an actual visit day. I hope i explain this right don't want to upset anyone. If you visit Friday and then go back Saturday morning you do not get terminated on Saturday for visiting Friday. But if you visit Saturday and Sunday and you are one of the first on Satuday to visit you will be terminated on Sunday. Basically the Saturday and Sundays are the days they really look at in terminating. I have visited on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday I was not terminated and on Saturday i wasn't either even though i visited on Friday and I noticed they did this every Friday. So I am assuming they really only count Saturday and Sundays.

we're you the lady with the pink top and the long hair? On sunday we sat at table 7 close to he patio door - i had on lavender capris's with a matching shirt

If I could type and spell at the same time I'd be alright LOL
It's a possibility that the staff gives Friday as a gimme day because it's not that crowded - when I can I like to visit on Friday because of that very reason

Previous visit I had a pink top on........this one was Yellow, BUT I do have the Long hair. :) and I had black capris on too. I do believe I remember you. Next time, say HI JQ. :)
I'm going today. Yeah. :D
Have a great day.
ShawnaIA72 05-30-2008, 10:12 AM Ladies...is it 30 days or 90 days when you are eligible for early termination during visits? Just curious...
sanchezct 05-30-2008, 10:17 AM depends where you live.
if you live over 250 miles you can have a visit every 30 days without termination
ifyou live under 250 miles you can have a visit every 6 months without termination
ShawnaIA72 05-30-2008, 10:24 AM Thanks much! Appreciate all the help!

wanderlust852 06-24-2008, 07:02 PM What are the visiting hours for Corcoran 1 on Friday's?
Thanks in advance
Les

wanderlust852 06-24-2008, 07:29 PM thank you
Junior'sQueen 06-25-2008, 12:56 AM at CSP1 on Friday's, the hours are till 7pm. AND sometimes they cut it early by about 5 or so minutes!
I think at CSATF, those hours, not sure, may be till 7:30 or 8pm, but CSP1 are till 7pm.
AND as pennerswife said, Friday visits ARE the BEST! Not as noisy because not as many people, it's just all around better and those are the only days I visit.
Have a WONDERFUL visit. Which Yard are you visiting? A/B/C ?? I am very familiar with A and B.
wanderlust852 06-25-2008, 11:11 AM I'm visting B yard on the 4th weekend - I didn't want to be a dumb dumb and be there at the wrong time.
Off subject - I hope you are feeling better and your recovery is going smooth
Junior'sQueen 06-25-2008, 01:37 PM Wanderlust, well maybe I will see you around then! You will enjoy visiting B! I'm hoping to get back up there on a Friday within the next couple or so weeks!!! And everyday I am getting better. Thanks so much!
Good Luck!
ddias84 06-25-2008, 06:16 PM What level are you visiting? I visit level 1 and I have to say Friday visits are the BEST and I wish that I could visit every Friday but I guess I have to work some time!!! It's nice and quiet and doesnt take forever to get in there! Have a great visit!!
Jen2008 06-25-2008, 11:48 PM What time does it open on Fridays at CSATF? Is CSATF also considered CSP2? What about the clothes? Are they strict about what kids wear?

I'm not aware of CSATF rules, times, etc. only CSP1, But you can call 1-800-374-8474 then press 1, 5 then 2. (just listen carefully)

CSATF visiting on Fridays is 12:30-8:00 Fridays are very quite, the best day to visit. Clothing rules are the same as most yards - no brown, camoflauge, all red, all blue, etc..Biggest thing is make sure you were a no wire bra and bring a couple changes of clothes just in case because friends outside (bless thier hearts) have hideous clothing! All the same rules apply to kids, unless they are infants. Oh one more thing..thong underwear..not so good! Call before you go - Juniors Queen shared the number, they've been on lockdown. The 800# also provides info on attire, etc.. Good Luck!
Jen2008 06-26-2008, 12:39 AM Thanks!
I just called the number and I will keep it and call Friday morning before I leave. Hopefully they don't go back on lock down before then! I will take extra clothes for sure, because a few years ago I had to borrow from the Friends Outside at Delano and I don't want to do that again!
One question: It said something about a new rule that only general population inmates that have gone 90 days with no disciplinary action are allowed Friday visits. But he hasn't even been there for 90 days. What do you think?
wanderlust852 06-26-2008, 03:19 PM Wanderlust, well maybe I will see you around then! You will enjoy visiting B! I'm hoping to get back up there on a Friday within the next couple or so weeks!!! And everyday I am getting better. Thanks so much!

 I'm glad you're feeling better - hopefully we will see each other on the 4th weekend - barring any trouble at the prison - I'll be there - you'll know me because I wear red framed glasses - and I visit on B yard

Hey you............If I can get my carpool buddy to drive my car, since hers is sick, then I may be there.......I'm hoping. You will know me by long dark hair, probably in black capris, or a black skirt, (and a scar on my neck due to the surgery) and my man is fairly tall. I'm on B also.
Thanks Les!!!

Thede 07-02-2008, 03:35 PM Ladies Big Question:
Last Time I Went To Visit My Fiance In May, They Were Letting Them Visit With Flip Flops On. I Was Wondering If They Had Change It Back To Everything Has To Have A Strap In The Back. Going On The 4th And Wanted To Know What Type Of Shoes To Take.........
Thanks
Junior'sQueen 07-02-2008, 04:52 PM I haven't visited in 4 weeks, but before that, almost every week I went with Flip Flops. And they are allowing strapless sandals, etc........ I will wear them again, but always bring an extra pair of shoes with a back strap just in case they change it back.
P.S. They just can't be plain flat black flip flops that resemble their shower shoes. But black that have more of a wedge you can. I have! :)
Thede 07-02-2008, 06:36 PM I'll be safe with some with little bling on them
have a good 4th
Ant's Girl 07-02-2008, 08:18 PM You ladies that show off your pretty toes are lucky. I'm scared that one of my toes would be mistaken for the "little bling." I'm cool with the flip flops.
Junior's Queen- I've seen your toes-------------like little perfect pieces of candy. (Don't trip, I'm on a diet and won't try to attack your toes.)
HA!

HA!
Girlfriend, you are the last person that needs to be on a diet. Can I please send over some of my "meat" to you? LOL And thanks for noticing my toes. I just had my mani/pedi yesterday just in case I go this Friday. hee hee :D BTW, I just told my man he could attack my toes anytime he wanted. LMAO!
AMANDASEIF 07-03-2008, 11:34 PM My Husband Was Told I Was Approved To Visit But I Havent Gotten The Letter If I Show Up In The Morning Do I Have To Have The Letter Or Can They Check In The Computer If Im Approved..
Sun'skitty 07-04-2008, 01:45 AM They should be able to check in the computer. I didn't get a letter saying I was approved. They let my man know, and it was his responsibility to tell me. Have a great visit!
cutiecake1 07-04-2008, 09:35 AM My man sent me the approval letter. I don't think they send you a letter. And you don't need the letter when you go visit. They look you up in computer which is why you have to wait in the lobby area until they call your name.
Have a great visit.:)
Junior'sQueen 07-04-2008, 12:31 PM Yeah, me too, I've never had a letter sent back to me. My man had just told me I was approved, because they told him. GOOD LUCK! And have a GREAT visit!!!!
Ant's Girl 07-04-2008, 09:29 PM Yepper---------everyone is right. They notify the inmate and it is his responsibility to let you know. The prison will not send you the letter, but your man can send it to you if it will make you feel better. The prison will notify you in writing if you are not approved, and the reason for you being disapproved will be stated. They do look you up in the computer upon the arrival of each of your visits to see your status. I have also seen people who were once approved become "unapproved" after already visiting for some time (much to their surprise) and sometimes this has happened prior to the visitor or inmate being notified in writing. (Not saying that this will happen to you).
nicoledelking 07-12-2008, 02:42 AM So, today when I went to visit my babe I wanted to buy photo ducats && the CO told me "we no longer sell them, the inmate has to buy them." Soooo stupid in my opinion...not 0NE picture was takin today on B yard...so obviously our men didn't get that memo...&& they'll be loosin money. Obviously, there was not one pic taken today.
---So, ladies if ya want to take a pic wit ya man, brother, friend, tell them they have to buy the photo ducats.
Junior'sQueen 07-12-2008, 02:49 AM Nicole is right! I was there today too visiting, and I couldn't believe it! My man didn't know anything about the new way to purchase. I think they will lose money this way!! Wow, strange. YEP, NOT ONE PIC WAS TAKEN!!!!

DAMN ...thank for the heads up cause i am going next month and i want to take pictures.
chocolatema 07-12-2008, 09:54 PM OK now thats a new one on me just last month they were letting you purchase but you had to use them the same day. I visited today but I didnt try to purchase any. Thanks for the heads up! You definitely have to stay on your toes with these people it seems they just switch up the rules any time they feel like it.
javies gurl 07-12-2008, 11:21 PM Ok....so when we purschased them we had to use them the same day, if our hubbies get them do they expire???
Junior'sQueen 07-12-2008, 11:23 PM Ok....so when we purschased them we had to use them the same day, if our hubbies get them do they expire???
My first reaction to answer this is NO, only because they go to canteen on certain weeks of the month. And it is not necessarily the same week family or whoever may be visiting. Does that make sense?
My guess is NO, but I would call Corcoran and ask.
OneManWoman 07-13-2008, 02:47 AM My husband tried to buy ducats at canteen and they "forgot" to stock them. Go figure.
daisy may 07-14-2008, 01:55 AM This is not the only prison in California that is doing this.
sanchezct 07-14-2008, 10:53 AM Wow thanks for the heas up. I guess the pictures will cost twice as much for some of us who's men still owe restitution. I think this is just another way for them to get us to pay their restitution. I guess I should be glad we don't owe that much anymore.
Sun'skitty 07-14-2008, 07:22 PM We did it this way at Salinas Valley. Remind your guys to get them at canteen!
loveIsfaith 08-10-2008, 06:52 PM Hi, I know many people ask clothing questions but I was wondering if anyone knew if the color turquoise/aquamarine color is acceptable? Thanks for the help.
:D
poodlegirl 08-10-2008, 10:16 PM Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. It just depends on which CO is working. Bring an extra change of clothes just in case.
daisy may 08-11-2008, 12:22 AM Agreed to what poodle says, better to not even try it.
loViNgK 08-11-2008, 01:11 AM All black is just the best way to go .
daisy may 08-11-2008, 02:24 AM Purple, pink, yellow, brown, grey(shirts), burgundy is also alright.
SGV girl 08-23-2008, 01:07 AM Avoid blue, gray, orange, and red...the CO's had fits when my 9 yr old wore an orangy shirt...like he'd switch clothing with his 6 ft 6 dad...LOL They can be real pains in the butt...best to not even have to deal with it.
SGV girl 08-23-2008, 01:11 AM Yeah, we went to see my man a few weeks back, and they apparently still aren't really telling them, because my kids wanted apic with their dad and we couldn't, because he hadn't bought one...go figure....
aliferzwife 08-23-2008, 09:05 AM Might be easiest and wisest to write to all your men and tell them to buy some ducats at store each month. Men can be a bit thick sometimes - - yanno?? :D
daisy may 08-23-2008, 11:05 AM Ummmm, you can wear gray (and this includes pants and tops) and Orange at Corcoran 1. All shades of blue are out and red is out.
Avoid blue, gray, orange, and red...the CO's had fits when my 9 yr old wore an orangy shirt...like he'd switch clothing with his 6 ft 6 dad...LOL They can be real pains in the butt...best to not even have to deal with it.
SGV girl 08-23-2008, 04:18 PM Well, all I know is that they told my 9 yr old son that his orange shirt with blue sleeves was borderline and to change it or they wouldn't let him in...this was Aug 9, very recent. Sorry if I'm wrong, but that's what they said...
SGV girl 08-23-2008, 04:20 PM Amen to that! LOL :D
SGV girl 08-23-2008, 04:22 PM According to visiting procedure, the only time YOU get a letter is if you are denied! So not getting one is a great thing! Have a nice visit! :)
