I have a friend who commited a federal offense and was convicted by new jersey state. I was wondering how can I find out where he was sent and how long will it take until he shows up on the federal inmate website.

If you go to the BOP site, http://www.bop.gov you can search for individuals there.

It might take some digging, but if he is in the system, you should find him there.
