Lylac 05-12-2008, 03:05 PM Hi! My husband recently got transfered to USP Hazelton. I'm not sure what kind of information you were looking for. Do you have a particular question about something? (ie visiting, phones etc) robertegarrett 06-03-2008, 09:28 PM perq, the first question is what facility at Hazelton has he been sent to? Haz has two totally different male facilities. The first is the actual USP, and that is a mx security facility. The second is the male camp, which is min security. Absolutely two different facilities, both totally different in physical location and in security. TheWifey 07-03-2008, 01:19 AM I see that you said USP Hazelton. My husband was transferred from Lewisburg. He likes it better because he says it is a real USP whereas Lewisburg was not. They have been on lock down three times since February when he got there on the 25th. Took him awhile to get his belongings. He says there is not much to do. Not many programs but it does have baseball fields and a gym. Of course it has mixed population. Different gangs which unfortunately is the only way some can survive in the prisons. Lifers and short timers. Good thing visit are Fridays night, Saturday and Sunday. There is a hotel right down the road from the prisons which is great when people visit. It is on the second highest mountain in WV so it can get foggy and cool. They have e-mail for the inmates so have him get the addresses that family has so he can start and e-mail them. Yes it costs money but is cheaper then phone and has no limit how often you use it. Must send out new visitors forms and but your phone list stays as is. We were supposed to get married on the 12th and the counselor dropped the ball on the paperwork which worries me about how well they care about what they do over there. One concern I had is that when you enter WV you see the three large KKK crosses along the highway about every two to five miles and that is scary when you think that the COs are from the area and most in the prison are not pure white or minorities. Is is a real USP my husband says, they do not sweat petty stuff. I do not know what you wanted but I hope I helped some. mint5234 09-23-2008, 07:24 AM Can you pass on information on the Hazelton prison...specifically the mens camp? Thanks |
