Hey guys,

As some of you know my hubby has not been at the Bay for a while due to surgery he was having….

Anyway I have still been sending letters so hopefully he will get a nice pile to read once he is back (hopefully this week)

What I wanted to ask was how are you finding the mail, are things getting there on time and are you receiving their mail OK, I just wanted to know because I have been missing his letters terribly and he promised to write to me the second he gets back!

Oh and the countdown has started I leave for the States 2 weeks today (Thanksgiving) so I get to spend extra time visiting :D

I mailed two separate envelopes to my brother on October 27th. He rec'd the one that was just writing tablets and envelopes within 3 days. The letter, which was in a separte envelope, he has not yet rec'd. I have rec'd 3 letters from him since then. I got a letter yesterday that he wrote on the 10th and it was postmarked on the 11th. I got it on the 13th. So I'm getting his mail no problem. He's not getting mine.

Well it doesnt sound to bad thanks for that, I'm still waiting for him to get back to the Bay so hopefully he will get most of mine in one lump!

Mine have been taking about two weeks to get to him but his have been taking about 4 days to get to me.I wish it was faster,now he is sitting in the hole with no mail for the first few weeks because it is taking so long :(

Ahhh that is a nightmare I have been told it takes a lot longer I know because my Hubby is in the SHU and my letters can take up to 3 weeks

Yep its actually just 12 days until I see him UNLESS he is still not back at the Bay, I’m going to have to do some phoning around later on next week

I will certainly be calling Rebecca to say hello and hopefully meet up while I’m there
Do you know what her visiting hours are on the Friday (28th) I think I still only get 2 hours in the SHU so I’m going to make the afternoon shift because I know I will be jetlagged from flying all day Thursday.

If you speak to her please let her know I said hello!

Rebecca is one of the lucky ones! She gets to visit all day on Friday since David is in B yard (general pop.) - meaning in at 9 and out at about 3, depending. If she knows you'll be there, she'll meet you in the waiting room after your visit...just tell her what time you'll be getting out. Keep me posted on what you hear about Colby...sure hope he's back where you can see him!!!

Hey Jane, thanks for that, I hear from his brother he maybe on his way back this week, but they said that last week so who knows!!!!

That will be great to see Rebecca again, I think on the Friday I will have the afternoon visit because I will be jeglagged so I will see Rebecca on the bus around 3pm, its a shame you couldnt come up to.

He said in the letter I got yesterday that the letters he just rec'd are almost a MONTH old! They are all before my visit which was the 1st.He hasn't rec'd any of the ones I sent since I've been home.I wonder if now it is taking extra long since he is in the "hole" ?

That's right on the mail. I sent a letter to my brother on 10-27, he rec'd it 11/13. I sent a postcard to tell him I was coming on the 7th and he didn't even get that yet. Luckily, the warden's office had sent a memo to him letting him know I was coming for a visit on the 15th and 16th.

Joanne he seems to be doing ok except for being rather down on himself for being such a f*ck up as he puts it for getting in trouble and getting more time added on and also just for being there period.It's driving me crazy not being able to talk to him like usual and to know that he isn't getting my mail for weeks.I am getting his letters in about 5 days.I started sending postcardas thinking they would get there faster but who knows....

Im sorry to hear that Ca Sunshine, especially when you where both able to talk and now its been taken away. I never get to speak to my hubby but I don't think it bothers me as much because I have never been able to anyway.

Hopefully they get him out of there soon! One of the ladies was telling me that she sends a postcard if she needs to let him know something ASAP and she is sure they get there pretty quick........well pretty quick for PB anyway!

I sent a letter w/a few envelopes at least five weeks ago and as of today I have not gotten a reply. What is up w/these delays. For some of us, its the only means of communication. This time in between letters is just killing me. Has the mail always been so slow. I remember writing to someone two years ago and it took a little while longer than I would have liked but nothing like this. Am I the only one having to wait this long :(

The mail into the SHU can take up to 5 weeks but lately it has been about 11 days as far as I can tell. Letter coming out of the SHU get to me in about 3 to 4 days. I guess they are more interested in what I have to say than what my son says to me LOL Love Barb

I sent envelopes almost 2 weeks ago and I have been writing daily but I have no idea how long it is taking him to get them since I haven't received mail from him in almost two weeks! don't know if the mail in AD SEG is slower or if he is ok or if he just doesn't feel like writing.It's hard we went from phone calls a few times a week and mail to now nothing :( Just wish I knew what was going on.

Is there anyone we can speak with at the prison who will tell us what is "really" going on with the mail delays? My letter was not returned to me, so I'm assuming he will be receiving it shortly if he has not already. I'm not familiar with what the SHU and Ad Seg is? Although I've got my ideas by reading everyones messages.

You can call the mail room but they will just tell you and they are short handed :) If they ever had to really work for a living they would know the true meaning of short handed :) Love Barb

Yah what Barb said ! Next to impossible to get anyone on the phone and if you do they will say they are short handed.The last letter I recieved from him said my mail was taking about two weeks to get to him so hopefully your guy should be getting his stuff soon too.
SHU is the Security Housing Unit (BSS Can explain in more detail) and AD SEG is basically isolation.My guy is in the general population part of the prison not the SHU but got in some trouble so he is now in the "hole" which is another term for Ad Seg.

new to pto, I've been experiencing the same problem with PB mailing system my soon to be husband is at PB and i havent heard from him since 1/5/04 couple of days before my birthday. i very worried, he express in his letter that i don't write him which is not true, i sent him stamps, stationary, and etc.. not to long ago and last year dec mailed off his request for music. If any of you can get a word to my man Richard D. Tejeda that i love him and i've been mailing him letters, why he hasnt been writting back. i truly appreciate anyones help.

Hi Speechless we are all in the same boat here! My guys mail is taking a month to get to him.I have an idea for you,send him a postcard it gets in MUCH faster or at least it used to! I send them when I have something important to say or just want him to know I am thinking of him

In the letter I got from him yesterday (Only took 3 days to get here) it said he was just now reading my mail dated 12/16 and 12/17!!!

Well things are getting better then, I got a letter a couple of days ago from Richard and he was just getting his Christmas cards dated December 7-8th. Love Barb

I think the mail must be getting a bit better,todays letter mentioned one of the Valentines card I sent which was about 3 - 3 1/2 weeks ago so that is an improvement on 5 weeks!

Good news on the mail front! got another letter today saying that they have more help in the mail room now and it is only taking about a week or so for them to get mail!
He got 6 of my letters in one day,its the more recent ones too!

LOL He got 10 letters the following day,he said he about had a heart attack!

Picture question......Is a 5 x 7 pic allowed in ??????? I got an old time photo done for him ( had to tell them no rifle or whisky bottle as props lol) and it is 5 x 7

Yes, he can receive any size picture up to an 8x10 as long as it does not expose any nudity. You know like the Janet thing. Heaven forbid they get turned on. He! He! He!

Just to let you all know you can always write a letter to the Warden and make it a citizens complaint about the mail being so slow.
Believe it or not it helps improve their slowness in the mailroom.
