As part of previous fund raisers here at PTO we had a little (actually, it got quite LARGE!) side competition going on between the (U.S.) States as well as other Countries and Regions.

I believe that Texas won the First one, followed by California on the last one.

What do you think? Would you all like to do this again?

We have quite a few people here who are in a different state than their loved one, so which state would get the credit for the contribution? My son is in California but I live in Western New York. Would we have a choice?

I do think it sounds like fun and I think most of us are more than willing to contribute to PTO. I know I will never forget hos much PTO has helped me get through this ordeal and I have always been thankful that I found this forum.

That's a great question, Matt's Mom.

I think how we will handle that is to contact each person after they have contributed and ask them where they want their contribution assigned regionally and post updates every few days, I am guessing.

We will also decide on how long the competition should run.

Given that I come from a state whose forum gets probably less than 10 posts a month I have to wonder what the odds are for my little ol' state winning the competition. Can we perhaps buddy up with the entire east coast? :D

What about North, South, East, West

North = Northern US and Canada
South = South US and South America
East = East US and Africa/Europe
West = West US and Asia/Aussie etc.

I think that if you tried to place New York anyplace else other than the East or North East, there would be much trouble!

Definitely East or N.East for N.Y.

I'm going to get out the past fund raiser stats, as well as the analytics on site visitors to try and make the potential East/West idea as close as possible.

umm? Mountain????? We have four time zones. But it is sort of funny, since I've moved to New York from California I find that the Easterners think almost everything except the east coast is "west". And then there's the "mid west" and I've never understood that one.

I think it's a bad idea. First off, I don't feel the members should be pressured to donate to another new server. Second, of course the most populous states have a lot more members here!!

I don't see how there is any "pressure" to donate for new servers. If people want to, they are welcome to. If they don't want to or unable to, that is perfectly fine as well. There are no "penalties" if people do not donate. Believe me, I understand that the majority of us don't have a lot of spare change floating around, but if members do and want to, it is appreciated. PTO needs additional servers in a bad way, and while I wish I could, I don't have the money to pay for them and all the upgrades myself.

Based on the vote results, I think it is pretty clear that the majority of people want it, so we'll draft something up covering how it will be run and go from there!

Competition? Well now let me tell you pilgrim; down here in Texas competition is what it's all about. Especially on Friday nights. Oh heck forgot we aren't talking football here. Shoot yeah, let's get some good old competitiong going. I will get Mo teamed up here and we will see if we can't bring some good old fashion Texas Butt Kickin. Sounds like a challenge to me what you think.

I love the idea that we are just 58% away from the goal already! That's awesome that we're almost halfway there in such a short period of time.:yay::rock:
