I just can't believe how hard the prisons and jails make visiting your loved ones. I mean, I know there's a reason for all these regulations, but you think they would post a comprehensive list to their website of ALL the dos and don'ts so we don't go down there and then get rejected when they call our names.

I think that we should organize lists for all the prisons and jails and post them here and wherever else we can so that it might be easier for everyone to have access to their loved ones. What does everyone think? I would be willing to take charge and organize. I would need input from everyone on here and someone who could translate the information into Spanish when I'm done.

Just PM me or list on this thread any information that you have for any of the facilities. I will put it all together. This includes what types of clothes you can/can't wear; restrictions at the actual visits such as touching or no touching, kisses, hugs allowed, etc.; what is provided at the site vending machines, games; how long is the wait on what days usually/recommended arrival times; is there a shuttle or car pool and anything else you can think of! I think this will be a great source for everyone. Let me know what you think.

We have a section where this is all posted, if I'm not mistaken. It's a big site and I haven't gone there so I'm not sure what category it's under, but I know there's been the effort made to provide that information on all the prisons. I think part of the problem is that rules change all the time, so it's hard to say that a person won't get there and still find that something has changed since the last posting on it. Thanks for being willing to make the effort, though. That's very good of you. If I can find the category the information is under, I'll come back and post it for you.

That's great! It seems so hard to find this information when you're new to the system. It's like they want to send you home crying.

That's a great idea! My girl is going to Perryville soon and, though I don't know if I'll be approved to visit yet, I'd love any information on that stuff. I have to drive like 2 hours to see her, and that would suck to get rejected and come home without getting the chance to see her. I'm completely new to this system, too, so I need the help.

Something I've learned about ADOC ~ ALWAYS bring an extra set of clothes that there is NO question about. It mostly depends on the guard on duty.

If you access the ADOC website, it has all the info on what is allowed and what isn't. You can look up just about any info on your loved one. The website is:

www.adcprisoninfo.az.gov

or

www.adc.state.az.us

My man has been in and out for about 6.5 years. He is now back in and if he behaves will be out in the beginning of January.

If anyone would like more info or help finding something out, I would be happy to help also.

Good luck to everyone. :D

As far as Perryville goes, be ready for about a six week wait. The 1st thing they do is put them in R&A and they can't even put you on their visitation list until they clear that. With the overcrowding they say they're way behind. Once you get on though it's pretty straight forward. I live in Virginia but I'm coming to see Susan over Thanksgiving. Haven't visited since Labor Day.

Not all the prisons go by policy, what is allowed by one is not always allowed by another for instance sitting directly next to your loved one is allowed at Lewis and is NOT allowed at Yuma, and if you learn anything it is definately ALWAYS bring an extra outfit, an outfit I have worn many times was recently rejected but being prepared I had another outfit in my car, good thing too because I was 3 hours from home. My biggest beef with ADOC other than they have my man, is they should make all the prisons comply with policy.
