If my husband had to choose the low or camp he'd go to in Texas it would probably be Seagoville. It's farther away from our home, but overall wasn't bad. The landscaping is beautiful - he always told me that it was like a college campus with razor wire.

The one I'd avoid is Big Spring - the camp isn't bad, but the low is pretty rough. Beaumont would be next on my list of places to avoid.

We recently found out if that if a person has 3 years or less they can be designated to the Houston FDC. It's completely enclosed in downtown Houston, but if you live in the area, it's much closer than driving somewhere else. Parking's a nightmare & on days when the Astros play, be prepared to either walk quite a bit or pay $10+ to park.

we were actually just talking about Seagoville - isn't that next to Dallas??
We've heard a lot of bad things about Big Spring. Anyways what is the violence rate like in Seagoville. Like I said he has never been in any kind of trouble before. He just wants to do his time and get out and move on with our lives.

you can choose, the judge can suggest and the BOP will decide. Do not put so much expectation on a place yet

Seagoville is pretty tame. It is near Dallas - just southeast of there actually. It's easy to find & we never had many problems visiting there. At the low they ask you to form a line outside & wait until they let another group inside -much like other prisons. If you don't mind waiting in the Texas heat to get inside, it's not bad.

oh its SouthEast of Dallas? sweet! that means it's even closer than Dallas. I guess I should just check on a map lol....looking right now...oh wow I know exactly where that is at! I wont have to go through Dallas traffic which is a major plus lol. It's only like an hour and 15 minutes from us. Anyways yesterday the judge asked him where he wanted to go and he said Seagoville and the jugde said good that's where I wanted to send you.

I've heard that Seagoville is getting harder to get into so I hope the BOP honors the judge's recommendation. It would be so nice for him to be close to you.

My fiancee is in FCI Seagoville. He says it is not bad at all. He has been there for 9 months and a few weeks ago he started working for Unicor. He also said it looks like a college campus.

Seagoville has both a camp & a low.

My BF is in Seagoville, but we don't talk much about the inside. I am in NY and wanted to go visit. Someone said that the only visitors are immediate family. Is this true? I am glad to know that it's one of the better ones. His sentencing is at the end of the month and he's going to ask to be transferred here. He has been in since June '07

Actually TabbyKat716, you might be able to visit. Since he hasn't been sentenced yet, I'm guessing he's at the detention center in Seagoville. They may have rules regarding family members, but it never hurts to ask. If he can add you to the list, he'll have to mail you a form that needs to be returned - they'll do a basic background check on you before approving you.

Once he's moved & in a regular facility, it shouldn't be a problem getting to visit him. As long as you can demonstrate a prior relationship with him, it should be easy to get you approved.

Hopefully he can stay away from the La Tuna triangle! It is the armpit of the BOP.

My husband is in the La Tuna camp, there is a Low there too. The judge can request somewhere in particular, but ultimately it is the BOP's decision. Good Luck!! Let me know the outcome :)
