Hello,
I am new to this forum. I think this is a really great place, especially after going through some forums and topics - it seems like a very supportive community.
I am looking to have a "pen pal" in an Ontario prison. I'm a student working on a thesis surrounding crime, the psychological aspects, the cultural aspects and the sociological aspects. I would like someone to have correspondence with who would be willing to share information with me (as much or as little as they feel comfortable sharing).
I'm currently attempting to get an interview set up in a women's prison but it's becoming increasingly difficult to be taken seriously. I keep trying to stress that I'm seeking to do anonymous case studies, where no names will be mentioned. It's a frustrating process and at this point I am asking peers who know of someone in prison if they can set up a phone interview. My thesis is due in about two months so quick access is needed.
For the pen pal it would be less a case study and more of a getting to understand on a personal level. I'm an advocate for prisoner rights and what I am seeking is not to discriminate but merely to understand.
I hope I'm not sounding horrible. My intentions are only good and any feedback would be awesome (hopefully positive, but constructive criticism is alright too).
If you know of anyone interested in getting mail, even just for casual conversation, I would really appreciate the opportunity to communicate.
Sarah
