Welcome to PTO and th MS Forum!!

South Mississippi is much better than Parchman!

There is a little inn in Leakesville, Grand Avenue Inn which is reasonable, and very clean and only a few miles fro the facility. There is also a Holiday Inn Express about 20 miles down the road. One of our members lives an hour or so from there and she may know of camping facilities.

Before visiting PLEASE find all the threads here about visiting and read them.

Any questions, I seem to be the resident expert on that facility and I will be more than happy to help you. Hope you get to visit soon.

All my best.

You might want to google campgrounds for Greene or Geoge Counties. Hattiesburg is only an hour away as well.

My son is at SMCI Leaksville and we always stay at Holiday Inn Express in Lucidale. Its not far and it is new so very clean and the rates are reasonable. I am a smoker so it gives me time to smoke a couple before getting there. Just make sure you clean out your car, we have never had problems and everyone there has always been nice. Unlike some of the others that i have had to visit.

Not Skyebaby, but I can tell you why.
Cars are well searched there when you go to visit and it makes your life a lot easier. You KNOW there is NOTHING in that car that can be construed as a weapon or other contraband.

if you want to know about life at smci , its hot as hell and it summer too NO air condition period. If he is in area 2 then it will be alot rougher than area 1 , hope I got them right its not something I want to remember. area 1 has schools and ged classes for some people and gives inmate something to do and better themselves. area 2 is chaos and shake downs all the time where they searching bunks and lockers . Gang members run rampant in area 2 and these guys even have ways they walk to go eat , gang members usually take the rear with so called security . I was there and they make prison life hard for inmates cause they outnumber you and try to intimidate you. I was ask to join and turn them down, a real man stands alone. To be honest though the county jail was worse cause the guards was so corrupt. Just keep to yourself and dont put yourself out there to make someone come at you .Most guys in there dont have a penny to their name and so they wanna be your friend to get what you got smokes, canteen ,etc. I figure if you didnt come to prison so much your people wouldnt mind sending you money and thats not my fault so you not going pimp my people. I did a year and im not going back . not in this life time

Hi luckylucciano...My husband was just transfered to smci today. He is going to visit with his case manager tomorrow, Any chance i can go and visit him this weekend? We are officially married so he and I both have copies of our marriage certificate, is there a chance we could have a conjugal visit also? Any info would be helpful?:o

The poster you asked the questions to is no longer a member.

It is not likely you will get a visit this weekend as your husband needs to send you a form to complete.
Visitation Department is: 601-394-5600 Ext 1064

Certain requirements as in system and RVR free for at least 6 months and be A or B custody must be met for Conjugal Visits.

my bf is in smci and was in parchman before that... he says that he would rather be in parchman... it is hotter in smci, less food on you plate, nothing to do... i like visits at smci.. the officers are always nice and they got better food for visits... yes clean your car! make shure there is nothing at all in it.. i always stay at the inn in lucedale that is on main street... it is nice and the ppl are very friendly! but as far as the prison goes, if you ask my bf he says parchman is where he would rather be, and he has been doing this for almost a decade!

def make sure your car is cleaned out... my father in law and his wife and i went to see my hunny sat and got turned away bc we didnt think about it but there was a camera in the car... it was dead and never crossed our minds only my 3rd time going and their first... which we asked if we could put it out and come back they would not let us... i dont get it you can have a camera phone but not a dead camera... and they looked at it first yet still searched the rest of the car then looked at our licenses then told us to pull to the side... i am still sooo upset about it... i would understand if it were of danger but if you can have a camera phone whats the big deal... plusit was dead and we asked to put it out and come back and we had no way of letting my hunny know why we didnt come and we go to every visit and he knew we were coming. he is in rid so he only gets to call on the week of visits so it will be two weeks before he can call again... it sucks so have nothing at all in the car thats the best thing to do...
