kintml2u 11-08-2003, 08:54 AM Well, Can you tell I have visited the California folder? :)
Thought BSS had a great idea and mabey we could try it here as well. (thanks BSS and those who suggested down there!)
So if you would please take a moment to introduce yourself and how you came to know the federal prison system.
My name is Diane and I am standing by my man during his stay within the BOP. He is currently housed at USP beaumont. "We" were sentenced to a 15 year MM and we are gaining on the half way point. I look forward to meeting others who are or have dealt with the federal prison system.

Zelda50 11-10-2003, 10:42 AM Hi I'm Zelda. My husband is in FCI Sheridan, finally close to home after being in FCI Bastrop, USP Lompoc and FCI Victorville. He's been down for 21 years, is under the old parole system, and so it's unknown when he'll be paroled. If not paroled, he's got another 24 years to go. We were madly-in-love youngsters when he went to prison - now we're madly-in-love old folks. Hoping someday to be in our rocking chairs on the front porch together. The BOP has made me paranoid and cynical but they havent gotten hold of my heart or my hope yet.

rbinder440 11-11-2003, 01:38 AM i am not sure what i am doing here i think i just completed the register and i have a lot of questions and would like a reply on them . My boyfriend goes for sentencing in january he is still in a county jail , his plea bargain is 60 months , he is eligable for the saftey value and he wants to get into programs to knock off time , know of the best one to get into ? Charged with Conspiracy .
kintml2u 11-11-2003, 04:37 PM Welcome to PTO Renee!
You might want to start a new topic with your questions. Sometimes that will help with getting answers. As for programs that knock off time, the only one I am aware of is RDAP, drug program.
Anyhow...jsut wanted to welcome you!
Diane

BTW...I am in Rosedale Maryland!
Zelda50 11-11-2003, 07:23 PM Just wanted to note here that folks don't need to feel obligated to give any details they're not comfortable in sharing - like the crime of conviction or length of sentence - just because others do. Share what you want. We welcome you.

R-Della 11-12-2003, 12:08 AM Hi, My name is Rebecca. My boyfriend Kevin was sentenced to 63 months for shooting a wild horse. (His so called "friend" has confessed to the actual shooting and he is free because he won't admit this to the police, he brags about it to everybody else in town) There is nothing anybody can do to get Kevin out. He is in FPC Florence, Colorado. He has 12 months left. I haven't been able to see him since Mother"s day but I'm going to see him for Thanksgiving.
lisadiesel25 11-12-2003, 11:17 AM my husband is in FCI Allenwood serving a 27 month sentence, just went in last week...
fabulous 11-12-2003, 11:26 AM Hi!! I am in contact with 7 federal inmates, all in the same drug conspiracy. Most from the same family. Time ranges from 4 years to 24 years, scattered from WV to FL in camps to highs. It is time for a change.
jcriccet 11-12-2003, 11:42 AM Hi! I'm Renee. My man is now serving the remaining 8 years of a 20 year sentence for drug and firearm charges. He is at FCI Oxford. I am a former CO at FCI/FPC Florence.
Hi all! My name is Rayshelle and my fiancé is at La tuna low Federal camp in Texas. He is finishing up his 10-year sentence for Delivery & Possession. We will be done with this time (fingers crossed) April 2004.
Good idea on starting this intro thread Diane!
God bless
R.T.s~angel 11-12-2003, 08:09 PM Hi,
My name is Sherry and my best friend/sweetie was sentenced to 9 yrs - drug related with possession of a gun.... He is awaiting designation to a facility right now, after being sentenced in August. The suspense of not knowing where or how far away he will end up is killing us both! I feel blessed to have found this site, it has been so valuable both in terms of information and support. I don't wish this on anyone, but it's comforting to know that other's can relate to what we are going thru.I've said it before but I'll say it again, this whole situation I've found myself in as certainly opened my eyes to how screwed up the prison system ( both fed and state) is. I wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy! But I've decided that I will not take this laying down,so I'm committed to doing what I can to help change things however I can.
L'sgirl 11-16-2003, 12:14 AM My man is 2 months into a 24 month sentance at FCC Petersburg. Nice idea on the thread here. It is nice to hear other peoples views and everyone here is so helpful and encouraging - thank you.
Hello everyone. I am new to this. My family member turns himself in tomorrow in North Carolina. My family and I are very broken hearted over this. I know we all hear the tails of the person is innocent. Well, I can honestly say that my family member was framed. I sat through the sentencing hearing and didn't take me long to figure this out. Please, tell me how you all are coping so I can try.
kintml2u 11-17-2003, 05:31 AM Welcome to PTO!
I can't say that it ever gets easier...I think I have just learned to manage better over time. And having a group around you, like PTO, is a huge help! Glad you found us!

miz_pandora 11-17-2003, 07:58 AM hey im kelly and my man resides at marion fpc but is looking for a transfer in two weeks to yankton.
egreenfield 11-18-2003, 06:35 PM My name is Ellen and Harvey (fiance) has been in FCI Morgantown since January 2002. I'm looking for him to get released to either a halfway house or home confinement in September of 2004. He is serving a 41 month sentence for violation of the federal false claims act. We intend to get married in May 2005.
4MyJoe 11-18-2003, 08:55 PM I'm a little late here.
Joe has been down for almost 5 years (w/several years to go)for state drug charges overblown by AUSA. Gov't had weak case, so they went for a plea agreement with 5K1 promises to get him to sign. Got his signature and information and then pulled the time cut away, and left him with the bag. To add insult to injury he has not been given credit for the state time he served from the instant offense the federal case stems from.
Change must come.
jane_t46 11-20-2003, 07:55 PM Hi all - My name is Jan and my husband has a lovely room at Petersburg FCI for a supervised release violation. We learned the hard way - don't make the Probation Officer mad - they have been given the "power" and know how to twist the truth. Thanks for all the support from my new friends.
jaden 11-21-2003, 06:29 AM Hi my name is Jaden my best-friend (brother), Clinton is in FDC Honolulu (also in the SHU for 8 months now!) awaiting sentencing for a distrubution and it is his 2nd offense. So our lawyer says we are looking at probably 20 or so years. But who knows now that he is in the SHU being investigated for "attempted escape", or put more accuratley- CHIPPED PAINT.
aloso his girlfriend is also awaiting sentencing and she will end up at Camp Dublin for aprox. 5 years!
Veronsan3 11-21-2003, 08:24 AM Hi, my name is Veronica and my husband is serving 60 months at FCI Elkton for arson. He's been there since January 13th. We're hoping he'll be transferred to Milan eventually so he'll be closer to home.
Kerley226 11-21-2003, 05:30 PM For RAM: Can you please tell me how LaTuna in Anthony Texas was? They may be sending my son there. Also who was the federal judge that sentenced your loved one? Please write back. Sincerely Kristina
IDOIDO 11-21-2003, 08:57 PM I'm Susan. My fiance (husband in 3 weeks!) is in Florence FCI in Colorado. He has 3 more years on a felon in possession of a firearm charge. I'm in Phoenix.
Missing Ray 11-23-2003, 02:37 AM Hi all! My name is Tina (just call me T). We are currently serving a 60 month sentence. He was at USP Florence and now is in ATWATER. I get to stay behind in Utah with our 5 children and try to keep things together here on the outside while supporting him there. As for the Federal system.... we have been dealing with it since 1998 and he isn't due out for another 558 days... I am not sure I know any more now than I did then.

Kandee 11-25-2003, 08:54 AM Hi my sweetheart was sentence to 188 months and hopefully with the drug program he will be out by 2010 I have been trying to add it up with the 85% deal and the year off for the program I come up with 2010 the bop website says 2012
kintml2u 11-25-2003, 11:37 AM Kandee...we recently found out the BOP has their own way of math computation. So when we think they will get 54 days per year....it actually comes out to 47, I think.
The BOP site is right...excluding if he gets the extra time for RDAP. And if he gets in trouble..and they take his good days away...you will see it move farther in time.
Glad to see you here!
Diane
moontock 11-25-2003, 11:44 PM Hi, my fiance is in transit to Butner FMC for evaluation before he even gets a detention hearing let alone a trial. I have no idea when this will happen. Right now he is in Petersburg VA and I really am lost without him. I feel like I'm living in the Twilight Zone.

Kandee 11-29-2003, 09:43 AM Hello I am Kandee and me and my sweetie is serving a 15 yr sentence but I still believe in MIRACLES :) he is in USP Atlanta.
SunDeja 12-01-2003, 04:40 PM My Soul Mate is doing his bid at USP Lompoc for drug charges. His release date is Sep 2010. We are working on getting at least 3 years off. Hoping and praying!
ImissRick 12-02-2003, 10:06 PM Hello...I am new to this, but since I have found PTO, I cannot seem to visit it enough? My boyfriend is serving 12 months (completed 4 so far) for a parole violation. He is still in transfer and hasn't yet made it to Raybrook, NY, which is where he is serving his time. I am curious about "good time" - I have read in different forums that a sentence under a year does not get good time. Please tell me this is wrong. Rick is under the "old law", which is supposedly different. BOP still has expected release date listed as "unknown". I am also curious about "CCC Placement" placement. A counselor at MDC -Brooklyn which is where he spent 2 weeks before being bused to Lewisburg, PA, told him that he would be eligible for 120 days of half-way house. Yet, elsewhere I read that BOP has reduced this to only 10%, which means about 5 weeks for Rick...ugh!! Would love to hear from anyone. Stephanie
He must be sentenced to a year and a day to receive good time, any less than that does not earn any and yes at the moment the BOP is only allowing 10% for CCC placement.
Oh yeah...forgot
Hubby is presently serving a year and a day at Duluth FPC. Home in less than 2 weeks now on a furlough, then 60 days til CCC placement, then home for good...yaaaahoooo
sp8502 12-03-2003, 06:36 PM My husband was just sentenced yesterday to 61 months. He already served just a few days short of a year in our county jail. If all goes well, he will be home in around 3 years. I think he is going to go to FCI Gilmer.
MY HUSBAND IS IN LEXINGTON, KY HE WILL BE HOME SEP 2006, PTO HAS HELPED ME SO MUCH, THANKS FOR ALL THE POSTS, FINDING OUT ABOUT FEDERAL ISSUES IS DIFFICULT IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN THRU THIS STUFF, GOD IS FAITHFUL AND WE SEE US THRU IF WE LEAN ON HIM
kintml2u 12-05-2003, 04:51 AM Welcome to PTO!

First, let me say Welcome to all. I hope that everyone finds friendship, understanding, compassion, and a kind ear, while they are here.
I also wanted to clear one point up, the BOP still awards 54 days of good conduct time for each year served. What I might do is write a post where I explain GCT calculations in detail.
Take care and welcome to all.
Greyghost-
kintml2u 12-05-2003, 04:48 PM Greyghost...that would be an excellant idea!
I hope to see it around soon!

nycancer07 12-08-2003, 04:17 PM My soul mate is currently in FCI Fort Dix for selling drug substances. He has been locked down for 3 years now. Hopefully he should be out in 2005, that is what he said, but the BOP says March 2008 so I don't know.

Kerley226 12-09-2003, 04:52 PM Hi: This is for ladyconvict. I notice that your are a former lawyer. This happen in SEPT. 2002 over 14 months ago. He is also looking at a mandatory minimum. This is his first offensefor anything. Any ideas what he might get?

Sblue 12-18-2003, 01:02 AM Hey! So glad to find this place.
My husband is in USP ATWATER, which seems to have it's own rules even from the BOP.
He has been there 2 years, including pre-placement jail time.
He has three more to go.
don't understand all the percentages, good time, half way house percentages! HELP!
I thought that Federal prisoners no longer had parole or good time.
And how would we go about getting him into a half-way house in the state where I am? and can he go to the half way house before his three years are up?
I am still trying to figure out this new world.
THANKS
LostOne 12-19-2003, 10:59 PM Hi; I am to self surrender on December 30th for a 13 month stay at the Federal Womens Medical Camp at Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas. I have heard that they call this place Camp Cupcake. I am scared to death because I have never been arrested or gotten into any trouble before in my life. So this is all new to me. I am more worried for my husband and kids than I am for myself. Also, I worry that my husband will leave me for what I have done. He keeps telling me that he has not left yet, but my mind likes to keep me upset.

Waiting to be sentenced 1-29-04! I've got my hubby into my mess as well...worried about him and my kids!
ExBOPer 12-29-2003, 08:09 PM I used to work for the BOP in Unit Management. I was with them for almost 18 years - a long "sentence." But seriously, I now work on the "other side" for a law firm. My boss specializes in sentencing guideline, BOP and superviosn issues. I just concentrate on the BOP stuff.
I'd be happy to help in any way I can, the "system" can be very confusing to a lot of people.
kintml2u 12-29-2003, 08:41 PM Lisa
Its great to have you here at PTO. So which side do you like better? Can you tell us alittle about what it is like to work in Unit Management as I myself often wonder how those things go. (mabey we should start another post if you can talk about it)

But I feel pretty lucky when I read some of these other posts. I feel for all of you. and I hope that everything will turn out o.k. for each of you. I am waiting on him. jelicaldom 01-19-2004, 12:12 AM Hello everyone. My husband is currently incarcerated in FCI-Elkton (Ohio) and I have been feeling pretty lonely and downhearted this weekend. So I went on a search and found this site. I need to talk to people who can understand, but I'm not sure how you'll feel because I used to work for the BOP (12 years) until I just couldn't take the politics and the injustice anymore. At the time I was very proud of the work I did and felt like I made a difference every once in a while. It's kind of funny though, I never had a problem with an inmate - it was the staff I had to watch out for.
Anyway, I met Brian a few years before I left the Bureau and fell madly in love with him. He's a good man who made a stupid mistake and I have been fully supportive of him, to the complete consternation and condemnation of my family, who think he's a monster. We'll have been married six years next month and while the last three have been a nightmare, I still love him.
So, am I welcome here? Yeah, I could have not said a word about my prior employment, but I'm not a good liar and I thought my prior experience might also be of some help. What do you think?
cat1967 01-19-2004, 04:59 AM Hi! Welcome to PTO! A job is a job, who cares. Like you said, you might have info that can help. We all have loved ones inside and we all need support, that's why we're here! Don't worry, I haven't met anyone that bites yet!LOL
kintml2u 01-19-2004, 06:00 AM We welcome all here....having worked for the BOP would not exclude you!
I am glad you have found PTO and introduced yourself!
Diane
jelicaldom 01-19-2004, 10:04 AM Thanks for the warm welcome and I know Brian thanks you as well.
I would love to hear from others with loved ones at Elkton to compare notes. The things that Brian has told me sometimes just don't fit with my experience working in the Bureau. While I was never there, I did work at 5 other places in my time (Marianna, Montgomery, both places in Miami and Carswell) and visited lots of others.
At Elkton, they just don't seem to conform to policy and it seems to be staffed by ignorant thugs. I'm a pretty keen observer of human nature and the few times I saw that, the staff member was disciplined. That doesn't seem to happen there.

nicole04 01-19-2004, 10:29 PM I used to work for the BOP in Unit Management. I was with them for almost 18 years - a long "sentence." But seriously, I now work on the "other side" for a law firm. My boss specializes in sentencing guideline, BOP and superviosn issues. I just concentrate on the BOP stuff.
I'd be happy to help in any way I can, the "system" can be very confusing to a lot of people.
my boyfriend was sentence to 12yrs he has do 7yrs he has completed the drug class he is in a prison camp bop says he will be release in 2008
BARBC 01-19-2004, 10:43 PM Hi, I'm Barb and my son is presently in USP Lewisburg, PA. His release date is 4/2005. He has been incarcerated since 1999 and is 23 years old. He is there for the next 18 months with no visits or phone calls. He was previously at USP Lompoc, CA until the riot in June 03. He was in the yard at the time of riot and was put in solitary along with 40 other prisoners and then shipped to Pennsylvania. I have been searching this site for info on this prison. Not finding much info. It sounds so depressing to me but Jared's letters are upbeat and he has a good attitude. More worried about Mom than him! I would appreciate any information about this federal prison if anyone has any and also if anyone has heard if anything has happened in the California Lompoc case.
Thanks,
Barb
Kerley226 01-20-2004, 01:25 PM hi, my name is debbie. my husband mickey is in a federal prison in forrest city, arkansas. his sentence is for 10 years m.m. , but i have faith he will come home sooner. he's been there for 3 mo. but was in a county jail near albuquerque,n.m. for 6 mo. before that. he is in for drug trafficing, furst time offender. he's the love of my life and i am with him for the long haul. we just had our 9th wedding anniversary jan. 16th.
Dear Debbie Hi my name is Kristina. My son is also in for drugs. He spent 2 months in the Torrence county Detention outside of Albuquerque. Is this where your husband was? It was not such a bad place. My son was sentenced on Dec 2003. They then moved him to Chaparral,N.M. until they hopefully send him to boot camp in california or Penn. The place he's in now is horrible. Hoping to hear something soon on boot camp. If anyone has any idea how long he might be waiting please let me know. I'm going crazy. I miss and love my baby so much. He just turned 21. happy anniversary Deb
kintml2u 01-20-2004, 02:04 PM Wow....the feds are just kicking here lately!
Welcome to PTO all newbies!
I see a couple questioned time....if you check the BOP website, the date listed already has the 15% GTC added on. They add on in the beginning...and take from it if nessasary. So the date you find on the site will be the correct date...besides if they do the RDAP....from my understanding.
Glad to have you all here!
Diane
Bookiesgril 01-23-2004, 03:43 PM Hello to all mylove one is in USP Atwater serving a 4 1/2 years for drug, firearm prosesion(sp?) he has a chance of serving half of his 4years in a halfway house for good behavior.

dlj1955 01-29-2004, 10:14 AM My name is Deb, mother of David, in Leavenworth Prison Camp. I did not know about these sites until he told me. I just wish he had told me several months ago. When he went in I was a wreck!! But he only has a few more months to go. Feel free to ask questions about the camp. There are alot of rules at Leavenworth. More than normal.
lil one 01-30-2004, 10:46 PM Hi, I am David (Fed-X),
I recieved a 27 month sentence for Felon in Poss. of a firearm.
I did my pre-trial time in the Montgomery County jail and was one of the first people in the Federal Detention Center - Houston when it first opened. I did my sentence at F.C.I. Beaumont (TX) - Medium and then Half-way house at Cornell in Houston.
I am an Non-Recovering PTO junky and I'm glad to meet all of you.. ;)
Hello, I too have just recently been handed down a verdict of guilty for Felony Poss of a Firearm. I was told that I am looking at 67-89 mo. I am a female and very scared. How did your time get so low. Is there anything you know of to get a sentence reduced? I am still in shock that I was found guilty. It was my husbands gun and they found it in a car that was registered to both of us, and no one was even in the car. So much more details but I will not bore you with them. Any information that you can give me would help. Thanks
Angela
Tammer 01-30-2004, 10:58 PM Hi I'm Zelda.
Hi Zelda, I'm Tammer. My friend is in FPC Sheridan, just went in Oct. It is incredible that you are still together with your husband under these circumstances. You are to be commended! :)
Do you have any new information on the early release bill, HR 3575? I am really new to this so I'm not sure how you go about finding out information.
Good luck to you!
cjjack 02-01-2004, 10:32 PM Well, Can you tell I have visited the California folder?
Well...thats me! I am new to this sight, but not the federal system. I served 4 years in the federal system, at 4 different institutions-F.M.C. Carswell, F.P.C. Lexington, F.P.C. Alderson, and F.P.C. Bryan. I also completed the residential drug program and spent 6 months in a halfway house. I have a lot of info, if I can help anyone or answer any questions, please let me know!! Chrisa
cjjack 02-01-2004, 10:39 PM My name is Chrisa and I did 4 years of a 70 month sentence in the federal system. I was in 4 different institutions during my incarceration, and also comleted the 500 hour Residential Drug Program. I also did 6 months in a halfway house. I know there are many misconceptions about female institutions and the drug program, and would be more than happy to answer any questions or help in any way I can.
Celtie 02-02-2004, 07:44 PM Welcome, Chrisa. I'm sure some folks will have ?'s for you. Congratulations on being out, good luck to you!

I am looking at 67-89 mo on a felony possesion of a firearm. I have been handed down a verdict of guillt and will go to sentencing on April 23. My Psi interview is scheduled in just two days. What qualifies someone for the drug program. How did you do less time then you were sentenced. Did they keep you close to home and ?????. I am sorry, I know that I have alot of questions but I have no idea what I am up against. I think my lawyer told me that I am at a level 28, whatever that means, but I have only done state time before so this is all new and scary. Any info would help.
Angela
Hi,
I am a newbie to this sight and am astonished. I had no idea there was a place like this. I just took my hubby in today :-( It has been only 14 hours and I am just lost ... he is in El Reno, OK. I haven't seen any postings about that prison, does anyone know anything about thier "boot camp" out there? I guess we were the fortunate ones from what I can see though, he requested El Reno at sentancing and got it right off the bat. He was sentanced to 37 months for excavation and removal of artifacts without a permit. Between us we have 6 kids ... 3 boys, 3 girls ... we laugh that we are like the Brady bunch. His 4 kids live out of state though. How do you all deal with this seperation? This is the longest we have been apart in over a year ... we work together and are still newlyweds on top of it. How long does it normally take before you get to visit or get phone calls? The gaurd that took him in this morning was nice, but not very informative. Well, that's about all there is about us. Thank you
Best wishes to everyone .....
Debbie
cat1967 02-03-2004, 02:12 AM  Hi Deb! Welcome to PTO! I can't answer any of your questions about that particular place but sombody will come along that can! Just wanted to say hello!
bobbee 02-03-2004, 11:09 AM My name is Amy - had my own experience in FCI Dublin. I got off paper, moved to the other side of the US & finally met my soulmate after 15 years, only to lose him to the state system, two months ago. His is short term, but painful. I seem to recall people saying that short time is the hardest time - I agree. I know what to do to make it easier, but I can't take it away, and I can't see my love. :(
april30 02-08-2004, 08:51 PM My name is Deb, mother of David, in Leavenworth Prison Camp. I did not know about these sites until he told me. I just wish he had told me several months ago. Hi, my name is April. My husband go sentenced 42 months and he will go to leavenworth prison camp. I basically have all the questions in the world. i HOPE you can expalin me about this camp. thanks
now_what04 02-17-2004, 07:54 AM Hi,
I guess I will be on here more than I thought. My husband is sentenced today. I will tell you all what I find out. It might be later tonight because I am separated and living alone with our dog and my cat in another state. I did tell him last night over a quick email that I would be there in spirit. He hurt me bad, but yet I am still the one trying to educated him and support him.
Glad to read your posts. I can see I am going to learn a lot here. But I see that a lot of you are supporting your man. Nobody knows the love you have for him but you, him, and God. But the truth is this, the crimes committed have hurt you, people, and the one you love behind bars. Some things on here are not fare, but we have to live with the choices we make. It is tought when the one you love choses to do wrong and both suffer.
That is why PTO is a great resource and support for those who suffer on the outside.
By the way, are there FCs that are better than others? Which ones should I hope he gets in.
Zelda50 02-17-2004, 01:38 PM Supporting a loved one in prison does not mean supporting the criminal behavior. People can and do change their behaviors and thinking and often prison is a time when a lot of reflection takes place. Many of us would like to see the prison system improve so that it is not damaging to our families but supportive of the changes we'd all like to make. The choice of how to relate to a loved one when he/she is incarcerated is a very personal one and we all make our choices for ourselves and our children. I can tell that your husband's actions hurt you and you are in the midst of dealing with that. Some of us have been through that and beyond and have been able to let go of that hurt at some point. I hope that happens for you as well. Zelda
kintml2u 02-17-2004, 01:42 PM I feel so bad....I se I skipped a lot of welcomes here!
So....to all of you...
Welcome to PTO!

CT's Pub 02-26-2004, 10:08 PM Hi to all,
My husband is in county jail and has been for almost a year now. He is federally heald and will be sentenced in April. His PSI reads 262 months low end 327 high. We have a 2 year old daughter that misses her Daddy, and so do I! I also had a federal case pending. The AUSA has offered me a four year phone count. The whole thing is just one big mess. Cyndy
tam_tam 02-26-2004, 10:27 PM Hi---My name is Tammie and I am in Central Florida and learning the hard way what a wonderful thing the BOP is. My fiance was sentenced to 10 years and 3 months for conspiracy and we were just told that he gets to visit New Jersey. Dont know when we will get to see each other after he reports but I am hoping that time flies and we can get thru this and still come out on top. He is having a hrder time than I am (or so he thinks).....Looking forward to making some new friends
CT's Pub 02-27-2004, 03:22 PM On my introductions post I had a little FREUDIAN slip. I wrote that I had a federal case pending but, the word is have a federal case pending. Sorry about that just wishful thinking.
TurtlesLassie 02-28-2004, 06:36 PM Hello, I'm Turtleslassie. I have served time in the CA state prison system and some time in federal system as well. My honey is two years into his six year sentence. Looking to give support and get some as well. I welcome any questions, if I can help I will.

meowmachine 03-15-2004, 10:38 PM Hi, I'm "meowmachine." Today, I found out that I'm headed to Danbury, Connecticut, on April 6. My sentence is 90 days for trespass on a military base during a protest. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I would say when anyone asks me about my sentence? I know that I've got a really short sentence in comparison with nearly everyone else there. I don't want anyone to feel bad that I'm going home so soon.
meowmachine
Zelda50 03-15-2004, 11:19 PM You could say that they gave you such a short sentence so you wouldn't have time to politicize all the prisoners while serving your time!! Just from your short statement here, I think you'll do fine. Protest on a military base - you rock! Zelda
sbrown110 03-16-2004, 01:11 PM Hi, my name is Sheryl. I am from Texas and residing in Minnesota now. I am currently facing a federal sentence. This website has already answered tons of my questions, it is wonderful. I will be leaving behind a husband and a 3 year old daughter. This is the saddest part. My husband says he loves me and he will wait. I sure hope so. This is all I have to hang on to. I look forward to knowing as many of you as I can. Thanks for being here.
meowmachine 03-16-2004, 04:26 PM Hi Zelda,
Thank you so much for the welcome. I was very grateful. I got my letter yesterday from my probation officer. I was grateful that I got three weeks' notice... but totally disappointed that I have to turn myself in during Holy Week and that I don't get to sing with my church choir on Easter! But I have no regrets about having done the protest on the military base. By the way, I've read some of your notes, and I think that you rock, too!!!
"meowmachine":cool:
Zelda50 03-16-2004, 06:26 PM Welcome Sheryl. Perhaps, while you're on the inside, your husband would want to join us here for some support! Also, you and he might check out the Family and Corrections Network website, which has a library and other information about children of prisoners and materials to help them along. You don't say how long you'll be in, but my husband (who is still in) and I have a child who began visiting in prison when he was 2 weeks old. He's now 15 years old next week!! He has always loved to get drawings and letters from his dad. A favorite when he was toddler were simple mazes his dad would draw and send to him. They have always had a good relationship, even at a distance. The website for Family and Corrections Network is http://www.fcnetwork.org/ Zelda
Shakes808 03-16-2004, 06:32 PM Hello. My name is Jennifer and I have a very dear friend in Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institute. He has been in for 4 years and has 3 left. I write to him as often as I can, but haven't done the "phone calls" or "visitation" just yet. I truly feel for him, I can't even imagine what it is like. Fort Dix, however, I believe is more on the upscale of prisons. He resides in the Camp division, I believe.
I look forward to meeting and talking to new people who are in the same boat as myself.
I'd especially like to hear from people who are familiar with Fort Dix (whether they have a loved one in there or once in there, or if there is someone that has been released from there who would like to offer me some info on the place.
My e-mail address is email edited by moderator, please reveiw PTO Policies and Rules or you can get in touch with me through this prison talk website.
Thank you very much - I look forward to meeting y'all!
I am located in Philadelphia - the "City of Brotherly Love".!

sbrown110 03-16-2004, 07:09 PM Thank you Zelda. Right now I am looking at 15-24 months. My attorney is still researching everything. I hope my husband will join PTO. I think he is still in shock, more than me. He is keeping everything inside for now. We have not told family yet either. He knew nothing and I did not reveal to him that I had done anything wrong until the US Dept of Justice was investigating me. This is a wonderful site to talk and feel supported. I appreciate your comments. Leaving my child is the worst part.

shawnsetfree04 04-08-2004, 01:07 AM Hi my name is Alicia and my brother is serving time at USP Beaumont, TX. If anyone has information or advice on how I can help him on the outside to get the ball rolling for a prison transfer to min. security please let me know. Also, I need to help him find an attorney that can reduce one of his charges that can either make his sentence lighter or send him home for time served. Thanks for the platform to network.
My Brother's Keeper :)
kintml2u 04-08-2004, 05:28 AM Welcome to PTO Shawnsetfree04!
I know alittle about USP Beaumont! Your brother would be the one who starts the ball rolling on a transfer. He must request it and have 18 months clean conduct under his belt. This is not always the sure thing...but thats what they say!
On attorneys....you may find some online that will email you....but my advice is to find someone local that handles federal, and ask their advice! Most offer a free consultation and will let you know whether or not it's worth dropping the dime before you do it!
Glad to ahve you here on PTO!
