Could someone tell me if there is a hotel that is close to the place as well as any info on visiting all together at the usp in hazelton.

I am also in Maryland, and have visted at least a dozen times. Here is the full poop.
Hotels: Use the Microtel Motel, Hazelton, WV. It is a brand new motel, open less than a year, and is located IMMEDIATELY across from the main entrance to FPC Hazelton. Free local and long distance calling, free cable with HBO, free internet, and a free continental breakfast, for $50-60 per night. Its only disadvantage is that the rooms are very small.
To find the motel and FPC, once you cross over the Md/WV state line on Interstate 68, the very next exit (about 2 miles) is Hazelton Rd. Exit onto Hazelton Rd, and make a right. Make the very first right onto Casteel Rd. The motel and FPC are about two miles up Casteel Rd. Easy to find.
As for visitation, I can only speak of specific procedures for the SFF (Secure Female Facility) at Hazelton, and not the pen or camp. But I can tell you that all three portions of Hazelton do random ion drug scans, which is done by running a probe over your hands, arms, and pockets. If it test postive, you will be denied entry, so make sure that there is nothing you have come into contact with that could possible set off a postivie read.
