Hello Easterling families & loved ones!

We could use your help in getting some updated info on visitation and other information on this facility.

As you have probably noticed, we gathered quite a bit of information for this facility some time ago, but we expect some of it is long out of date and now incorrect. The current sticky is here:

http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182538

We need to know any changes/updates/etc - wherever the information is wrong or something new should be added, please let us know about it!

Especially concerned with:

- Visitation Hours (or a general idea of how their schedule runs)

- Visitation Rules (especially if there are some major differences from what you see there now)

- Rules for inbound and outbound mail (limits on pages of letter, envelopes, pics, etc., and how mail to the inmate should be addressed)

- What can be sent in or out through the mail (especially books, paper, envelopes, pens, etc.)

- Can they have stamps sent in, and how many and how often

- Whether there's any difference in the procedure for sending money orders in

- And any other info you think would be helpful along all these same lines.

Pretty much most of the rest, like general stats about the prison, we have access to, but we could really use your help in updating & correcting any of the info we have, and adding anything we might be missing that we should have.

So please let us know if things are pretty much the same at your facility, or if there's differences and what they are. Feel free to just add to this post as needed if you can help!

Thank you!

Lys,
I've not really noticed anything different about Easterling during my fiance's time there and/or since Mosley left, with the exception of a metal detector that's been installed at the front door when you first go in. Visits are still 8-1 and dress code is still the same. As for letters and stuff, fortunately, I've not run into any problems with sending him letters, cards, pics or money orders. I know through previous threads I've read about Easterling, some have had opportunities getting stuff in. As I said, everything is still pretty much the same at Easterling as it has been the past year and a half since R's been down there! I know they're strict on those guys...but, honestly, it hasn't been THAAAT bad, I suppose?!?! I mean, considering we are talking about prison here! *lol* Sorry I couldn't be of more help!!

LOL, nothing's different since the wicked wit... uh, I mean, Mosley :p left except it has definitely improved, I'm sure!! Heh. Good lord, that woman was something.

As for stuff they can't get in, Easterling really has been LOTS more strict than all the other medium security prisons, under Mosley's rule it was anyway. Tons of things you could send in to Limestone and others that you couldn't there, and even some really ridiculous restrictions like not being able to send stuff in anything but regular envelopes (i.e., no Priority Mail envelopes, etc.).

It was a whole different world down there than the rest of the Alabama DOC, I hope some of the strict has lifted because really it was rather silly down there. And I hope we never go back there, LOL. I bet officers who work down there and have never worked anywhere else in ADOC and transfer elsewhere freak out at how unbelievably different that place is, or at least used to be.

They still won't allow anything other than regular envelopes. How crazy is THAT?!?! As for everything else, I assume it's all still the same since my last post?!?! I've not been down since April, as I ended things. I know he's in the faith dorm and hasn't had any problems since he's been in there. Quiet and peaceful from what he writes in his letters!! Sooo, that's good!!
