Hello Draper families & loved ones!

We could use your help in getting some updated info on visitation and other information on this facility.

As you have probably noticed, at this time we literally have nothing but contact info - the prison's address, phone number, and warden's name - in our sticky for this facility.

What we would LIKE to have for this facility someday soon is something along the lines of this sticky for St. Clair:

... especially specifically:

- Visitation Hours (or a general idea of how their schedule runs)

- Visitation Rules (especially if there are some major differences from what you see there at St. Clair)

- Whether or not they have a segregation unit ("the hole")

- Rules for inbound and outbound mail (limits on pages of letter, envelopes, pics, etc., and how mail to the inmate should be addressed)

- What can be sent in or out through the mail (especially books, paper, envelopes, pens, etc.)

- Can they have stamps sent in, and how many and how often

- Whether there's any difference in the procedure for sending money orders in

- And any other info you think would be helpful along all these same lines.

Pretty much most of the rest, like general stats about the prison, we have access to, but we could really use your help in getting some information together for this facility much like the one in the link above to St. Clair.

So please let us know if things are pretty much the same at your facility, or if there's differences and what they are. Feel free to just add to this post as needed if you can help!

when it comes to mailing things in, and inmate can get two full books of stamps at a time... I have wrote letters that are 5-10 pages long and never had problems. When I address my letter, I write his name AIS# and then there is an IL- 32A at the end of the AIS#. I'm assuming its the dorm/bed #. When he first got there, I just wrote his AIS# and he still received my letters, but when I write the AIS# and the dorm # or whatever he gets them faster...I've also mailed 4by 6 pics of our daughter in- 5 at a time. I've heard an inmate can only get 8 pics at a time.When it comes to money orders, I always get them from the post office cuz I know those are accepted everywhere and I know some places won't accept any but the post office ones. When I send a money order, I put my address and SSN- my boyfriend said it's required. As far as visitation goes, I've not been yet but when I go I'll get back to you.....

Did want to mention about the money order - the SSN is only required for when they initially turn in their funds list. You don't have to put anything on a paper money order but your name and address, and their name and AIS number. Most important are both names and AIS number, without all three they will likely send it back to you.

I've never put my SSN on anything else in eight years but him turning it in initially on his funds list, and just as a precaution I would stop doing it if I were you for security (identity theft potential) purposes. The SSN is absolutely NOT needed past the initial turning in of your name as someone on his funds list.

For sending Western Union funds all that is required is your name and address on the Western Union account and their name and AIS number, as well.

You're very welcome. I'm probably not as cautious with my own info as I should be, but in this day and age with identity theft so rampant, I reckon it's a good idea not to be giving SSN out to anyone any more than absolutely necessary and stuff like that!
