I just talked to my hubby and he said that they are giving him Flexeril (sp?) a muscle relaxant for his migraines. He gets them very bad. I have seen him curl up in the fetal position and rock. He can't keep anything down once they begin thier course. He has been on Imitrex but they say that costs too much. The Flexeril does nothing. Is there anything we can do to get him this drug. What about our private ins.? I am impressed though that they did not interupt his celexa (anti-depressant) The county jail in Columbus was horrible about getting these to him in a consistent matter.

Well I know after years of fighting with the NYDOCS they finally started giving John Imitrex. At first they were prescribing percocet which is absolutely ridculous. First of all, it is not a medicine of choice for migraines and second it is an opiate. Who the hell prescribes an opiate to a heroin addict. I had to go through hell to get it for him but after enough phone calls and letters he finally got it. That is the only route I can suggest but I don't know anything about the state your hubby is in sorry.

I thought about trying to find out if our pharmacy here would ship directly to the one there. I don't know if they would allow that or not, but the celexa is what he went down there with. I can get it refilled here. I guess I can try, that way they can't say it is too expensive.

Giving your husband Flexaril for his headaces, that is a muscle relaxer. Imitrex is what he should only be taking for his migraines. Migraines are cause by pain and also a nerve tht could be pressing on his head inside. He needs to be on Imitrex all the time if he has a history of migraines. He needs to talk to the Dr. and see exactly what they can do. What state are you in. I could look into it for you, and let you find out. I work at a Dr.'s office, plus we have reps that come around I can talk to the Imitrex rep and see what he says about Correctional Facility recieving Imitrex for inmates and what the procedure would be. Give me about a week to check into this I think the rep is coming next week.
