on the 13th i will sign for 60 or 90 days in harris county. my court appointed attorney did not make it clear...but if i become a trustee, do i get out earlier?!?! if so, how does one become a trustee?:D

I think most counties allow inmates to earn extra time for working. I know our county does. The only way to know for sure would be to ask them. I'm sure it varies from county to county. I hope you get out SOON!! Good luck!

I've been told in Travis you do get an extra day if you are a trustee but you have to wait until a trustee slot becomes available. You sort of put your name on the waiting list and have to wait for the space to open up.

Certain crimes will exclude you from being a trustee. I don't know the whole list, unfortunately.

I imagine that different jails do things differently but in Robins case she was "voted" in as trustee by the other women in here pod without her doing a thing or even knowing about it until it happened. Apparently they had someone speak to one of the jailers when a spot came open and they told them that they all thought that she should get it. Also, Robin has an escape conviction and, even though TDC will make a big deal out of it and never give her G1 custody level, it didn't keep Galveston County from making her trustee. Again, that was just Galveston County. Angelina County kept her in the high risk, high security pod for the entire three+ months that she was there. How ridiculous.
