Hi everyone,

My guy is being sent to Red Rock soon. I read that a lot of hawiian inmates were sent there over the past two years and I was wondering if any of you ladies had a loved one there and if any of you could me some information about the prison. I know this sub forum seem to be the most unlikely place to post this question but there is no info in the Arizona Forum about the prison.

I'm sorry but there wasn't much information I could find on the prison. I think it would be best to call the prison up and speak to someone there that can be able to assist you further.

Where is your guy coming from? From what I've heard, they are moving the Hawaii inmates from Red Rock to Saguaro. Saguaro is where they house the Hawaiian inmates which is right next door to Red Rock. If you need info on Saguaro, pls pm me.

They are also moving guys from California to this facility. My husband is on the out of state transfer list and this is one of the facilities he asked me to look into.

Twisted- can you post any info you find for us? My husband is thinking of putting in a request for an out of state transfer. Whether he does or not will depend on what's available for programming in these prisons. Thanks

My husband will call this week and I will ask him. The last thing I heard was they went through the volunteer list and now they are picking people. I do know that you have to find out one of two things. 1 are they being involuntarly transfered which meens they will conform to their own states rules and regulations or if you are requesting a transfer sometimes they make it permanent and then that state owns you and you follow their rules. If you post some questions you have that will be better for me to just ask him what is going on.

I'll try to make this short. He was put up for transfer in Dec., because the cellmate that tried to kill him in his sleep the year before was being sent to the same prison (his ex-cellmate is now designated EOP/SNY, and it is the only prison in all of CA that accepts these inmates). Instead of transfering him, though, they did an override on his points, and moved him to a different (lower level) yard. But it's getting so crowded where he's at that he thinks they may revoke the override and send him somewhere else after all. There is really no other prison in CA that he wants to be transferred to, so he is thinking of putting in a request to leave the state. It would depend on what programs are being offered (if any) in the other states, and if the prisons there are more "mellow" than here in CA. He just wants to finish his time (8-10 more years) without all the gang drama and such.

I didn't realize that their case would transfer under the authority of the other state (if I am understanding you correctly). I live in CA and so does our daughter and grand daughter. He doesn't have family in those other states, so he wouldn't want to parole to any of them when he's released.

He does have medical issues, both from being sliced open last year and a few other things that are going on, so I'm not even sure they would consider moving him. If they do, he would need adequate medical care. Do you know if that's provided in the transfer state prisons? By adequate, I mean follow up care for; hep c, valley fever (contracted twice and may still be a spore residing in his lung), nerve damage from the 91 staples used to put him back together, MRI monitoring for lung cancer (or valley fever spore) and NSF (contracted from all the damn MRI's), plus a broken foot a few months ago that required major surgery to put in plates and screws. Heck, looking at this in writing, I'm thinking that no other state will want him! Thanks for any info you find, it's much appreciated. Kim

Here Is What I Have Heard On Red Rock/saguaro. They Have A "flu" Bug Circulating In Red Rock. They Have Finally Closed The Kitchen At Red Rock And Are Sending Red Rock Personel To Saguaro Kitchen To Carry The Meals Back To Red Rock. That Is As Of Friday And I Think It Has Been Going On For Several Days. Might Not Be A Flu Bug, I Don't Know.
