Hi There. So nice to find this place. I'm relatively new to the "system" but I've been learning very quickly. I used to think that people were innocent until proven guilty, but I see how that is so very wrong. Anyway, my husband is in North Carolina. He was sentenced Sept.19,2001 and is due for release some time in 2006. In NC they have structured sentencing so there is no chance of parole, although the legislature has decided that there is no money to build new prisons, but are severly over crowded. What to do!! When Allen was sentenced, it was the most horrifying thing I've ever been through, and not knowing where he was taken, or what was going to happen next, and nothing but silence from the system, was terrible. But I'm much better at finding out stuff now!!! We were married in July of 2000, so we are newlyweds, kinda. But I will say that this experience has helped us grow more than if we had been on the outside all this time. I don't really know what else to say except that I think this is great. I know that Allen and I want to do something to help other families and inmates after he gets out. We aren't sure yet what, but something. Thanks for this place!

hi pammie-
i wanted to write for several reasons
1. i 'm in NC too and the man I love and have loved for 13 years is in prison until 2006- i am here if you want to talk about the pain and frustartion of doing time on the OUTSIDE
2. i am the chairperson of a organization called NC-CURE which is a state chapter of a national organization with chapters all over the US and in other countries! It is a prsion reform group working for changes in policies and laws - in NC we are working towards improving visitation policies, changoing telephone usage policies, change in mandatory minimums, abolishing the death penalty, etc. we had our first meeting in January and our second one will be Feb 16th in Greensboro, NC at 1:30 pm- I will email you a copy of our flyer and brochure or if you send me your address will mail it to you-. you can reach me at NC-CURE PO Box # 78198 greensboro, NC 27427. i look forward to hearing from you

Hi Pammie:

I have a son in the North Carolina Justice System also. He has been there twelve years. Yes, It is really hard to watch all the crap that goes on in the system. Where is your husband now, what camp? Honey, I wish you all the luck in the world. If you ever need to talk to anyone, just send me an E-Mail. This is not a bed of roses, but we all can get through it together.
