View Full Version : How far is Heaven? TBIsonMom 02-26-2008, 10:21 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjC4HXwLzBU&feature=related hitulily 02-26-2008, 10:27 PM I like this song. I sang along just to remind me that Heaven is here with Jesus. jancy 02-27-2008, 09:06 AM you know about 3 yrs ago my son was in Alleg Co jail...a horrid place...and this song came out. I sent him the lyrics before he ever heard the song. when I went to visit him, he had that note with torn edges tucked into his scrubs pocket. he said he kept it on him all the time. later that summer I got to see this group sing this song at an outdoor concert. it meant a lot to me. Ovietor 02-27-2008, 09:19 AM Love that song. Paid closer attention to the words this time. Like it even more now. dutchgirl1 02-27-2008, 10:12 AM unfortunetly I can't listen to it till I get home. my work puter wont' allow it. :( I'm His Mom 02-27-2008, 10:35 AM Wow! I am re-printing this and sending to my son again while in state. thanks for the reminder of a heartfelt song! TBIsonMom 02-27-2008, 11:52 AM You are so very, very welcome! I couldn't imagine a song that fit us all more than this one! Yes, very teary eyed I got when I heard this one again yesterday when I was wandering around in my outing. I thought I had to share this with you all, just in case it might touch your hearts as it did mine. We are weary, aren't we? Love to you all! My tears are not just for myself, but for you and yours...someday we will all meet in heaven and will get to give each other that hug and hopefully, not so sloppy kiss...but I'm not promising on the not so sloppy! TBIsonMom 02-27-2008, 02:14 PM here is another on...Eric Clapton has sung this, but this was is done by The Choir Boys...so beautiful! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvLAZ51Wsq8&feature=related wendy tyler 02-27-2008, 02:45 PM That was a little haunting for me. The kind of music my son loves, the background where he was raised..... Why could mine not be the one singing and playing guitar instead of being locked up. I loved it, but it could have been him, and the backdrop looks like it was around the corner. Wendy reggie42 02-28-2008, 07:11 PM Sometimes life seems hard to bear, Full of sorrow, trouble and woe It's then I have to remember That it's in the valleys I grow. If I always stayed on the mountain top And never experienced pain, I would never appreciate Goodness And would be living in vain. I have so much to learn, And my growth is very slow, Sometimes I need the mountain tops, But it's in the valleys I grow. Please forgive me for complaining When I'm feeling so very low. Just give me a gentle reminder That it's in the valleys I grow. I give thanks for those valleys, For there's one thing that I know The mountain tops are glorious But it's in the valleys I grow! --- Jane Eggleston rominakins 02-29-2008, 09:13 AM FYI.... Tears in Heaven" is a ballad written and performed by Eric Clapton about the pain he felt following the 1991 death of his four-year-old son, Conor, who fell from a 53rd-story window in his mother's New York City condominium. By all accounts, the death was simply a tragic accident, and Clapton was distraught for months afterwards reggie42 02-29-2008, 12:22 PM Yes I remember when that happened....such a tragic tragic story. Every time I hear the song, I think of that poor baby. LuckysMom 03-02-2008, 06:38 AM Was just telling my grandson's mother we needed to teach that boy how to pray....her reply....How? .... once again I found myself at a loss for words. I have listened to this song for a few days now, and keep coming back to this thread to sing with the lyrics. Tu que estas en alto cielo, Echame tu bendicịn [translated from Spanish] [You that's in a higher place Send me down a blessing] Going ask her if she will teach me how to sing this part, she has a great singing voice, and seeing how she is teaching him spanish, both of us will learn :) Sometimes life seems hard to bear, Full of sorrow, trouble and woe It's then I have to remember That it's in the valleys I grow. This poem just seems to go with it. Music is so soothing to one's soul. Any more favorites songs out there? Many Blessings to All! missinmysonbad 03-02-2008, 10:55 AM Ooh my gosh! I love that song.. When my son was in county, i went to sighn up for a visit, when i was leaving i stopped at the gates and was saying a prayer for my son and just talking a lil to him(not that he could hear) just to relieve some pain, then i got into my car in tears and this song came on, wow, so every sense then i took at as a sighn that my son knew i was there and that became our new song.. evertime i hear it i know its my son thinking of me...
