I have a question and I'm hoping that some of you ladies can help.
If an inmate from California transfers to a prison out of state, will they still get family visits even if that state doesn't allow them? My husband and I have been going back and forth over this. I seriously doubt that California inmates would be given special priveledges but my husband insists that they would.
Guys at the prison where he is now have agreed to transfer to the new Red Rock facility in Arizona because they were told by their counselors that they would still get family visits...

I am not sure but I would say no because of the fact that they would not have the facilities (trailers) for the family visits. I would also say no because if there state doesn't allow it then they would not allow it for a visitor from another state. Just my thoughts. Your best bet would be to call the facilty where he will be and ask them.

My understanding is the state they are transferring to is giving them everything they get here in California and that includes family visits but if that state does not have trailors then I am not sure how they are going to give family visits.

Yes, they are supposed to have the same rights in the other states as they do here. If they qualify here for FV's then they also qualify there. The problem has been not having the trailers (or facilities) to allow these visits to actually take place. I guess until the families start making a big fuss, or file some lawsuits, the wait could be indefinite. Has anyone contacted the Prison Law Office about this???

Well it's not my husband going to Arizona, but I guess the counselors made it sound like a good deal so alot of the guys volunteered to go.
I would think that inmates from other states would get very upset if California guys were the only ones to get FV, you would think that would cause riots or alot of fights.

The California inmates are put on their own yard, they are not put in the other prisons population.
