i wonder if someone out there could help me with my questions.
i has a pen pal in St Clair, and he's serving two life sentence there. we write to each other very often. i'm from Singapore(Asia).
i love so much to pay him a visit, but i'm not sure if i'll be allowed in.
i also need to know the nearest international airport to St clair etc.
i don't mind the difficulty and the long journey, because i'm a true friend and i want to at least meet him once in my life.please help me. thank you.

You need to find out if he has put you on his visitation list. When he puts you on his list he will need your full name, birthdate, social security number and it usually takes a few weeks to be put on the list. The nearest airport would be the Birmingham International Airport.

When you get to checking out flights & fares, check into Montgomery (MGM) and Huntsville (HSV) too - if you are able to rent a car & drive in the U.S. when you visit, that is. They are both about two hours away or a little less. Huntsville often has less flights but cheaper fares than Birmingham and Montgomery.

Also, if you can drive, Atlanta (ATL) could be an option, which almost always has MUCH cheaper fares and is also just a couple or so hours away.

If you are unable to drive then Birmingham (BHM) is definitely the best and only reasonable option, but if you are eligible for car rental Atlanta might be the best choice. Good luck!
