View Full Version : USP Beaumont News - Lockdown & Rumor that USP is converting to Medium status FriscoLady 02-23-2008, 05:28 PM Due to all of the recent incidents VERY soon USP Beaumont will be housing ONLY medium inmates. All of the inmates who are required to be at a USP will be moved to other institutions. prsnmom 02-23-2008, 07:30 PM My son is an inmate at Beaumont USP. I understand what you are saying but what will they do with the facility that houses all the max inmates? Are they going to make the entire grounds for lower and minimum security? My son is 550 miles away from home being at Beaumont USP but I am concerned they would only move him further away. Can you message me or post any more information you might have about this? I appreciate it. Thanks, Glenda Zelda50 02-23-2008, 08:25 PM So they're going to make the other maximum security prisons more crowded? Oh - that'll help a lot. FriscoLady 02-24-2008, 06:38 AM For the moment this is all that is known. cwatersh2o 02-24-2008, 11:46 AM i just want to know exactly when you heard this Frisco lady because we all received phone calls from our inmates in USP on Friday and we are wondering if something else happened on Friday during slow roll or if you heard this before they called us and the rumor has not gotten to them yet. Is this a rumor or are you confident. That is a HUGE thing to say and then leave us hanging. I received yesterday a memo from the warden and it said nothing that indicated anything like that. So we are all just worried that something bad happened again Friday after our phone calls because we didnt get another yesterday or yet today.... Thank you so much for all you do! Antionne4ever 02-24-2008, 11:53 AM I spoke with my love last night and all day on Friday.... he hasnt heard such a thing...and from my understanding nothing really has happened... so all should be well with our men for now... he hasnt called me yet this morning though... so Im kinda like whats up??? cwatersh2o 02-24-2008, 11:58 AM Antione4ever.. is yours in USP or medium?? Antionne4ever 02-24-2008, 12:09 PM I pm'd you back :) He's in the medium... but anything that happens at usp affects the guys in the medium and low as well... Its amazing how one thing leads to everyone being on lock down... why not just punish those it commtied the acts and leave everyone else alone... Sorry off topic Im going to pm you again cwatersh2o 02-24-2008, 12:34 PM For those of you who do not know for whatever reason, USP has been on lockdown non stop since Jan 25th. Friday, Feb 22nd was the first time they had even been allowed a 5 minute phone call. They (the inmates) thought they would be "slow rolling" soon and be able to call again for another 5 minutes on Saturday but as of right now no other phone calls. If anyone with a loved on in USP has heard from them or about them we would love to hear about it. prsnmom and I are afraid something else happened on Friday while they were out for showers and phone calls. Thank you so much for all you all do and support us all! it is appreciated beyond measure! prsnmom 02-24-2008, 12:47 PM Please, please post anything you know of why Beaumont USP was slow rolling them out from a lockdown on Friday morning that started January 25th and now we have received no more phone calls. Does anyone know if something happened that caused another lockdown? I am very worried about my son and fellow inmates. I would be very grateful for any confirmed information you have. Thanks!! Hubie 02-24-2008, 09:10 PM I spoke to my love one at Beaumont USP on Friday for 10 minutes twice. Insofar as what Frisco Lady posted, I did hear the something similar, but I heard it from a different prison. According to a trustee at one of the other USPs, it was said that they were going to start moving people from Beaumont USP to other locations because it was getting out of hand, but it sounded to me that they were going to move the troublemakers…I’m honestly not sure. But, there is some truth in what Frisco Lady is saying. Now this person did not tell me anything about Beaumont becoming a medium facility, but he did say they were told at his location that they could be expecting some new people (where he is housed-USP) because Beaumont USP was moving some of the inmates to this place who were getting out of hand. I don’t know if this will help anyone but there’s what I got. We must keep the faith! cwatersh2o 02-24-2008, 09:16 PM Thank you to everyone that is posting information on this thread! I hate the DARK! And I feel that is where I am going to be for the next several years! Hoping for anyone else that can shed some light on this subject! Hubie 02-25-2008, 11:03 AM I actually got a person this morning when I called USP Beaumont. I asked could she give me any idea when we may be able to hear from our loved ones at least by telephone or visit them. She said to me that I should call back by Friday and hopefully, they should have some good news. I asked her was it possible that they could call us by Friday and of course, she closed down and said I should call back by Friday. Now I don’t know if she was brushing me off or not, but I must keep the faith. So, if anyone else calls, I certainly hope that you will post or pm me. I do have another friend who is calling now to see what she can find out; however, she has been calling for an hour and no one has answered. I don’t know how I lucked up and got a live person on the telephone. I did get two letters from my loved one dated 2/19 on 2/23, and he said he was alright with the exception that they seem to be changing cells every three days. He said they are being pretty nasty and aggressive with the inmates (as if they are trying to provoke the inmates) whether you are a trouble maker or not, but he said his time is too short and he wants out so he has to raise himself above the “BS” and go with the flow. If I hear more, I’ll post. We must keep the faith! Hubie 02-25-2008, 01:28 PM Due to all of the recent incidents VERY soon USP Beaumont will be housing ONLY medium inmates. All of the inmates who are required to be at a USP will be moved to other institutions. Just spoke with my love one from Beaumont USP and he relayed the exact words that Frisco Lady quoted. He said two people have already left. Has anyone else heard from their loved ones today???? prsnmom 02-25-2008, 04:59 PM I went to Beaumont to visit my son on January 25th only to find they had locked down the USP three hours prior to my flight. I had done the same as everyone and had tried to call several times prior to my flight. I ended up coming home the next day (there is a lot more to it than that but I will keep it short). Before I left, I went back to Beaumont USP and asked for other numbers to call. They are saying they have a new phone system at the USP and that is creating some problems, but I am not sure about that. Here is a number I was given and after calling was able to get an extension of someone I could talk to. I think this extension is only answered Monday through Friday during the day. The number is 409-727-8187 ext. 3351. I hope this helps!! I don't mean to be negative, but they did give me the brush off several times to just kind of pacify me like telling me to call back on a certain day, etc. prsnmom 02-26-2008, 07:10 PM Has anyone been able to get into touch with anyone at Beaumont USP to see if they will have visitation this weekend? I have tried to call the main number and the number I have with an extension and get no answer from either number. If anyone has any information, I would appreciate it very much!! Boo2007 02-29-2008, 01:36 PM I am new to this, but I have been getting calls from my husband all week for 5 min at a time, and has called me at least 5 times a day. The lockdown should be lifted today and everyone is been led out from 8am til like 9pm. I don't know if all dorms are being done the same way. But about the move, I was told that the prison may be turned into a Med. level and all High security are being moved but no indication of when. prsnmom 03-05-2008, 12:11 PM I just wanted to let anyone who is interested that I visited my son this weekend at Beaumont USP. It is true that they will be moving the maximum security inmates. The staff is telling the inmates they will be sent to one of three places which include Pennsylvania, Kentucky, or Arizona. I heard a staff member say they are asking the inmates where they prefer. My son said they (the inmates) have not been asked anything like that and have only been told one of the three places is where they will be sent to. My son seems to think it could be at least a month if not longer before they move them, but I will tell you they wouldn't even take pictures this past weekend because they were afraid the inmates would not get them before their move so who knows????? I hope this information helps. Boo2007 03-06-2008, 01:37 PM I will be going to down to visit my husband this weekend. Is the visit going ok since I will be coming from Dallas I just don't want to make the long drive. prsnmom 03-07-2008, 11:19 AM I just wanted to let everyone know that I actually got an answer at Beaumont USP and asked if they were having visitation this weekend. They informed me they are on LOCKDOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!! C_BLUE 03-07-2008, 08:33 PM I last spoke to my guy Wed. night, it had only been since Monday that they were able to make full 15 minute phone calls... He told me he spoke to his counselor and that I WAS APROVED FOR VISITATIONS!!!!!! :( IVE BEEN WAITING ON THAT FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS!!!.. As of last night I didnt get a call from him any more :( he had been mailing me the memos they had given them in there stating how they are moving everyone out of there... I feel all you guys anxiety of knowing what the hell happened again! cwatersh2o 03-08-2008, 01:43 PM prsnmom! I love you and I miss you!! They are all going to be ok and remember they prepared us well for this so I am sure they were prepared too! Everyone just remember that we are loved and when they have us out here loving and supporting and counting on them it makes all the difference for them in there!!! cwatersh2o 03-08-2008, 01:45 PM C Blue I am so sorry you didnt get to visit before this went down! Next time they are "up" let me know if you are going to visit and I am sure I will see you down there! Has anyone heard from their inmate whether or not they are leaving or staying once the switch is made to Medium? prsnmom 03-08-2008, 10:59 PM You know I love you too!! You have definitely been my support system, and I have learned so much from you. Yes, we were prepared, but I definitely feel for those who where planning on visiting and talking with their loved ones!! For those of you that were planning on visiting, my heart goes out to you!!!! Maybe after they make whatever changes they are making things will be more safe for our loved ones. I hope for the best for everyone! C_BLUE 03-09-2008, 05:41 PM If any one knows anything on visitations for this coming weekend PLEASE LET ME KNOW.... C water, I will def. let you know when I go, it be nice to semi know some one there :) cwatersh2o 03-09-2008, 06:16 PM I got a letter from Kevin yesterday but he wrote it before Lockdown on Thursday. Still hoping to hear that he is not injured. Has anyone heard from their loved one since lockdown started on Thursday? Anyone heard if their inmate is staying or moving? What about you C Blue? Your man just got there right? But is he going to stay with all the moving? And definitely let me know when you go down and I will let you know if I hear anything about visitation! C_BLUE 03-10-2008, 12:31 PM not heard anything yet, hope to get a letter when I chk the mail today :( Yeah he is going on 2 1/2 months in there but doesnt know if he is leaving or staying... buddyboy 03-10-2008, 12:42 PM Finally, someone answered the phone at Beaumont USP! As of today I was told they are on lockdown again. I have someone in there in high security and he has mentioned the moving of all high security inmates no ideal when. Has anyone found out any information on this lockdown C_BLUE 03-10-2008, 07:01 PM Ok, just got a letter from my guy and he says "REASON" for LOCKDOWN @ USP HIGH IS DUE TO THE RUMORS THAT HAD BEEN GOING AROUND IN THERE THAT SOMETHING ELSE WAS GOING TO HAPPEN... He says everything was good out in the yard, no reason for lockdown. I do recall last week when I last spoke to him he had told me that some guys had been warning other inmates not to go outside cuz something was going to happen... cwatersh2o 03-10-2008, 09:34 PM I got a letter saying that nothing major happened too. He said it was either really minor and they reacted quickly OR the rumors or the moves. Who knows all I care is that he and everyone else are ok!! I hope this means they will get some people moved this week and let everyone up for visitation! C_BLUE 03-19-2008, 01:54 AM Slow Roll Out Of Lockdown For Usp Beaumont! 5 Minute Phone Calls!!! Yayyy... Maybe They Will Get Visits For This Coming Weekend :) cwatersh2o 03-19-2008, 10:37 AM Well as C Blue Said they got their little 5 minute calls today and he said about 15 people have already moved from his building. I heard one guy say they were coming up from Lockdown tomorrow but who knows! I hope they go ahead and let Visitation start Thursday! It is spring break for some of the kids and I would love to take them to visit! Not on a weekend when it is SO crowded! If anyone hears anything let us know! Cathy cwatersh2o 03-20-2008, 10:03 AM on the phone now!!! No visits this weekend WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH They will be slow rolling until Tuesday of nest week. Go figure! Hmmmm trying to avoid visitation during a what is for some a long weekend! BOP!! USP BEAUMONT! No commisary for them for another week! Just the bare necessaties! Toiletries and coffee is all they can buy! $25 spend limit AGAIN! I hope they don't get locked down again! My baby is 6'2" 260lbs and he is starving!!! Hope everyone else got a call. If not watch for one. They are suppose to be out again for another 2 hours this afternoon. Cathy cwatersh2o 03-20-2008, 02:49 PM I just got a call. More moves today. Kevin is one of them. I will be outta touch crying for awhile ladies.. that is over 900 miles from me!! cwatersh2o 03-20-2008, 04:02 PM he called again. they told him where he is going. It is even further away than I feared! Zelda50 03-20-2008, 04:45 PM So sorry to hear that!! prsnmom 03-21-2008, 03:57 PM My heart goes out to all of you who have loved ones in Beaumont USP that are close to home and are going to be moved in time. My heart especially goes out to my dear friend, Cathy (c2watersh2o) whose husband has been moved but not 100% sure of where yet. This is a very difficult time for her as it will be for all of us when the time comes. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. I can only imagine how difficult it is for those of you who have your loved one close to you. All I can say is if they have a visitation before they are moved, you might try to visit because all Beaumont USP inmates will be moved. Due to the fact that my son is a max inmate and where we live, there is no place they could possibly move him that would be close to home. I truly appreciate all of you that I have gotten to correspond with since I became a member of Prison Talk. I have met a few of you, and I am grateful to have gotten to do that. The support and news of Prison Talk is VERY BENEFICIAL to me as it makes me realize I am not the only one in this world in this particular situation. I hope all of you have a wonderful Easter!! MelissaTx 03-21-2008, 05:21 PM Im sorry to hear that everyone's guys are getting moved. I was hoping that when mine is sentenced he would go to Beaumont(only 3hrs from here), but after reading about the lockdowns and such, I dont know if I still want that. Try to have a good Easter, Melissa cwatersh2o 03-21-2008, 05:31 PM Melissa, You may still get Beaumont. Beaumont will still be open to medium level inmates. Maybe your husband will score as a medium. Keep in touch with us and let us know where he ends up and how you are. Thank you everyone for you messages of support! Kevin is def gone from Beaumont. I got a call from Beaumont today confirming his departure and that is his most likely going to Atwater California. I will believe it when he calls me from there! You know the BOP! have a great Easter everyone! Much love Cathy:( buddyboy 03-21-2008, 08:55 PM My son called this morning he was able to shower & make a 5 minute call. He said over 100 max inmates have been moved already. Last night 25 were shipped out. He is just waiting for them to tell him to pack. They are letting them out daily now to shower no more 3-4 days without a shower. He has no ideal where he is going, but knows it will be to far for me to visit. He was at pollock, 40 minutes away and then now beaumont, over 4 hours away. Have not been able to visit due to all the lockdowns. He believes he will going to to PA, KY or IN. So I feel for all of you, my prayers are with all of you who are missing their love ones.... C_BLUE 03-24-2008, 08:20 PM Reading this breaks my heart... I know that everyone that has been updating this thread feels just as I do. The tension and feeling of hoplessness, waiting for that 5 minute call just to know if he will have visitations before shipped off. Im so sorry for Cwater, reading her post has just made me realize this is really happening. I havent yet been able to see Trey since he got sent there in Jan. and today he told me that if they leave him through tuesday, likely I can visit this weekend... My thoughts are with all you who are going through this... MelissaTx 03-24-2008, 08:50 PM cwatersh2o: Thanks Im sure he will be medium or poss. low. He doesnt have anything violent or drugs in his past, just a BUNCH of stupid stuff (all but 1 older than 7 yrs) And this is his first Federal charge. Im sure if he can handle being TDCJ Huntsville he can handle BOP Beaumont! Good luck to you with yours poss. going to Ca. That sure makes for a long trip! Hopefully he'll go somewhere close to home! prsnmom 03-24-2008, 10:00 PM I don't want to alarm anyone, but my son told his girlfriend today that they had moved some more last night. They have no idea where their fellow inmates go when they leave there. I looked up one fellow inmate today and he had been sent to McCreary, Kentucky. As I have said before c2waters husband has been moved. He went to Atwater, California. Who knows where our loved ones will end up, but I can only hope that it is a much more safe environment than it has been at Beaumont USP. I hope you all have a great week and keep your chin up! Boo2007 03-25-2008, 01:15 PM Well they packed up more people today, they packed my husband celli. Said they are not been told where they are going because everyone is calling home to let them know and they are not suppose to be told where they are going but where letting them know out of curtesy. So now you just have to look him up once he is gone. I don't know why they make a big deal of where they are going don't know their excuse. We like to know so we have an idea what we need to do to get prepared. Anyway my prayers are with you and your loved ones if they are already gone. Mine so far has not been packed so I am hoping to see him this weekend, don't know yet. Rosa Zelda50 03-25-2008, 01:34 PM They don't let them know for security reasons. Fed-X 03-25-2008, 01:35 PM Has anyone seen anything official from the BOP or elsewhere that they will in fact be converting the USP to a Medium facility? Personally, that doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me unless the number of prisoners designated to a USP has dropped significantly, and the number of medium levels have gone way up. Zelda50 03-25-2008, 03:34 PM I recall hearing from a lawyer, who had visited there recently, that he was told by the staff that Beaumont USP was switching to a medium "for 2 years or so." Also, the BOP did, when they revised their classification rules awhile ago, make more inmates eligible for medium rather than maximum or minimum. That was their plan, to be able to consolidate more and save $$. Z. Fed-X 03-25-2008, 03:40 PM Thanks for the info, Zelda. Boy, I did time at Beaumont - Medium... It could get dicey at times.. But, I sure am glad I didn't have to do it at the USP.. All you get to look at on the rec yard is concrete walls & gun towers.. That place is a fortress.. Not to mention a pressure cooker.. You could see ambulances come and go at least once a week (usually twice) from the 4th floor / teir outside. greyghost 03-25-2008, 06:01 PM USP Beau will be converting into an FCI (not sure of the exact timeframe). It has everything to do with space, needing medium space. While USP Beau has been crazy and it's certainly had it's ups and downs, the BOP is in desparate need for medium level bed space. Additionally, I have not heard of anything indicating that this is only a temporary change. I would expect it to become permanant, but I have no first hand knowledge on this. GG TheGeneralsWife 03-25-2008, 06:06 PM I talked to my friend today for like 5 minutes and he was telling me how a bus load of guys left for Atwater this morning and that he was going o be moved in the next few weeks or so. Not that what he says is official, but it looks like that is what they are doing there toddslady 03-26-2008, 12:37 PM My husband just got to okc yesterday, and he said all the co's there are talking about the change, and they are saying that they're changing it to a Medium Medical facility. C_BLUE 03-26-2008, 02:26 PM for the ones who havent been moved yet... The COs are getting together today to talk about wheather or not they are getting visitations this weekend and off lockdown. Atleast thats what my guy told me his counselor said this morning... Boo2007 03-26-2008, 03:21 PM I heard the same from my hubby today, that they will know for sure tom. if they have visits this weekend. Also that they may come out of lockdown tom. Hope its true ready to see my man. Miss him so much. Rosa outraged 03-27-2008, 09:25 AM Major Changes Coming To Federal Prison In Beaumont. I informed him that the prison itself wasnt shutting down. They were just moving inmates that werent Medium. (Hope I got that right lol) cwatersh2o 03-30-2008, 12:27 PM Boo and Blue I hope your visits went well! guess what! Kevin didnt call today for my birthday... guess why?!! Atwater is on LOCKDOWN!!! We are never going to get away from this crap! Boo2007 03-31-2008, 08:15 AM Our visits went great in our case about seeing our loved ones, but the visit sucks, there is no food and when it does come all the visitors run like cows and try to run you over and 3/4 of your visit you stand trying to get something to eat and heating it up. I met Blue up there she is wonderful we helped each other out on Sunday by standing in line for each other. That cut being with our hubbies in 1/2 more than sat. Blue stayed till Monday. Let ever one know it was still great we got to finally see them. My husband said they have moved aprox. 800 inmates and so far since about wed. they have not packed anyone up. Maybe that is it for now maybe not because all High levels should be moved by May. HAPPY BIRTHDAY:grouphug: Rosa cwatersh2o 03-31-2008, 09:37 AM Hey Boo! I know there are some seriously selfish people down in that visitation room. But there are also some really nice people. I am glad you and Blue were able to help each other out! PrsnMom and I would have been lost without each others help that first weekend after the last lockdown! I am glad for you guys that your husbands are still there! Maybe you will get to see them again next weekend. I am missing Kevin really bad since they are on lockdown in Atwater and I can't talk to him and now our letters take so much longer to get to one another! I hope everyone at Beaumont is ok and please keep in touch! Loving all of you! Cathy prsnmom 03-31-2008, 07:21 PM C Blue and Boo2007, I am so glad you were able to see your loved ones. C2watersh2o and I know all about the waiting in the lines and the vending machines running out but it is all worth getting to see your loved one. I hope your loved ones are shipped somewhere close. My son is still at Beaumont and no word on where he is going for sure. I am pretty sure if he wasn't one that left on the bus, he will be going soon. C2watersh2o and all of you have been a trememdous amount of support and I appreciate all of you. Hang in there and keep your head up!! USP was on lock down for quite some time but I got to visit this past weekend and looks like eveything is back to normal. So its best she call the facility to make sure eveything is ok. Good luck. Rosa prsnmom 04-04-2008, 11:34 AM I just wanted to let you all know that you all have been a great bunch to communicate with, and I hope my son's new place has just as nice people as you all have been. My son has been relocated to McCreary USP. I hope everyone will stay in touch, and I wish you all luck. Always keep your chin up and know there is others out there in the same boat as we are!! Good luck!! Glenda:thumbsup: C_BLUE 04-04-2008, 08:26 PM Ok, so Im finally back in here posting, its been a long week of work and still with the excitement of last weekends visit. It was a goood visit, I really didnt think we were going to be able to sit that close and hold eachother. Asides from the chaotic lines it was still all worth it! I must say thanx too Boo I wasnt as lost, it really helps when you have someone else that knows the roll. Im very glad I hooked up with her in here, she is very nice! Also thanks to C2waters for answering my call/questions... this thread has overall helped me stay informed , thank you guys hope your loved ones stay close... Trae is still In Beaumont and I hope to see him again soon... Moonwife 04-11-2008, 07:47 PM They've moved a bunch of guys from USP-Beaumont to USP-Tucson. It's my understanding that they're moving the "unruly" ones. I heard one of the COs say that USP-Tucson is the "toilet"; all the other USPs are flushing their troublemakers to Tucson. Tucson isn't even close to capacity so they'll probably continue this. norwegianwood 04-20-2008, 09:57 PM My boyfriend is at USP Beaumont and they haven't moved him yet? I don't know if they're moving him. They haven't told him anything yet though. I hate this waiting game. |
