My Dad is in Sumner county jail, kansas. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. He wants to be transfered to Tulsa county jail so I dont have to drive for 3 hours to see him every week. Does anyone know if this kind of thing happens? Could I get him transfered to Tulsa? If so how do I go about it? Thanks in advance

My guess is that getting him transferred won't work because his case is probably in that area?? He has to be available for court in that county etc. But it's just a guess.
I just hate it when I don't get any responses to my questions so I wanted to at least offer my guess.

If he has already been sentenced to some time in the county jail, he can talk to the social worker or counselor and see if they do any kind of interstate compact arrangements.
If he is awaiting trial, however, GiaElise2007 is right; they'll want him under their jurisdiction until the trial, and they won't want to be bringing him back and forth for hearings, depositions, etc. Possibly he could be sent to another Kansas county--Sedgwick County, for example, sends prisoners all over the state because they're overcrowded--but out-of-state is probably out of the question. Have you talked to his attorney?

He will not be transfered period. Sumner County already houses for Sedgwick and Johnson county, they do not transfer out anymore since the new jail was completed.
