Well, Lancaster is not the most informative personel but when I called to find out about paper she said "2 pads". I asked 100 pages?, she says, yes. no pens or pencils. 40 envelopes and stamps. It takes about 10 days to get to him.....thats how long it has been for my son.
I didn't wait I kept calling cdc I got cdc# on the 5th day (went in Monday got hes cdc# on Friday)

10 pics per envelope, 40 envelopes, 40 stamps, no pens no pencils, and you can send sheets of paper, like 200 maximum, or the pads of paper, no notebooks or paper. the quickest the mail has ever gotten to my boyfriend was 3 days, the longest was 3 weeks.

by 40 stamps you mean that i can send him a book of stamps. or does it have to be the stamped envelopes?

I hope somebody answers you more accurately. I know we sent less paper on a pad, lined paper, unwrapped, not as many stamps and some envelopes. And he received that package. It took about 2-3 weeks to get to him. Some here have suggested to call the mail room there for information.

Hi,
I'm pretty new to all this. My man just got to Lancaster prison and even though I have a little experience with jail, it seems like the requirements and all are different in prison. I made him a photo calendar online where you upload your photos and they print it and send it to you. Now I'm not sure whether I can send that to him? Please help!:confused:

They can have calendars as long as they are 12 inches by 12 inches when they are CLOSED and they cannot have the metal spiral binding - just staples.

Dear aliferzwife,
thanks so much for the info. It really gets confusing with all these rules and stuff. I also wanted to let you know that I think your site is fantastic. I already found so much useful stuff just by browsing through some of the forums! You guys are fantastic! Thank you so much and have a great 2008!

I just called the mailroom at Lancaster and the nice lady told me that you can send the paper in the plastic but once it gets to them, they take it out and just deliver the paper to them. Also I asked about stamps, she said some people send up to 5 books. As for envelopes, the pre-sealed ones are ok also. Just some info in case loved ones were looking for some answers.

Lancaster phone number
(661) 729-2000
Press 0 and ask for the mailroom if you have any other questions

Hope this helps other folks in the same situation.... :)

My guy is in IL... and we can't. So I doubt it. They usually buy that kinda stuff in the comensary (however it's spelled). It's their store...

Please keep in mind that each state, and in many cases each facility, has it's own regulations and standards for what inmates may recieve... IDOC's regs have no more relationship to the regs for Lancaster than George Bush has to George Carlin;)

I send my son a wireless theme notebook (80 pgs) twice a month, sometimes more. I send a Priority Mail envelope which costs $4.60 right now and I can cram as much stuff as I can get in there at no extra charge. It has saved me a lot of money doing it this way.

A manila envelope with envelopes, stamps and paper is fine.

I send 40 envelopes (max), 2 books of stamps (max) and whatever paper will fit in the manila envelope

So yes they can all go together.

Hey everyone I was wondering do you have a mailing address on Lancaster (LA County) reception? Just found out my nephew is there but when I call they ask me which reception is he in and to call the state number. (916-445-6713) When I did the state said that there is only one reception there and Lancaster would have the address but they claim they don't know. So does anyone have the p.o. box info to mail letters to? I have his cdc #.

I have a 21 year old son at Lancaster reception. He's a violator with a new term. In the old lady days that meant you had nothing coming and just sit and stay for awhile 23/24. I was at CIW so I'm not too sure on the waiting time at Lancaster. Anyone know about how long till classification? Also do they take money % at reception in Lancaster? I thought Lancaster was a special needs yard, when did they start a reception there? Also anyone know how the medical is there. My son received a hernia working out. He sent 2 letters and I sent envelopes but no answer. The Dr. told him they were going to do surgery on him, but I wonder. What's really going on in reception there?

I was told that you can send 40 pages of paper, 40 envelopes and like a book of stamps. But I just called 661-729-2000 and asked for the mail room (I can't remember what the extension # is) and then asked all my questions at the mail room. They were pretty friendly (as much as you can expect) and very helpful...

I finally got ahold of somebody in the mail room at Lancaster, and was amazed that the lady I talked to was AWSOME! She answered all my questions, apologized for the delay in the mail (she said they don't have enough people), and was all around a pleasent (sp?) person.

It's always nice to talk to someone who doesn't answer the phone with an attitude!:D

I have to agree the co's and staff at lancaster are awesome, to me. I use to hear people compain all the time about lancaster, but I can truly say, everyone I have encountered were nice, understanding, and never had a problem. I was thinking about writing a very nice letter to the warden about a job well done.

The mail at lancaster from them to us goes really fast. It's takes me 3-4 days to get a letter from him. Although the mail from us to them is taking forever. Someone called in and they said they are short staffed. My husband is in there flipping out, loosing his mind because he thinks I am not writing. I've been writing him at least 1 letter a day and he hasn't recieved any of my mail. I tried to call in friday to make an appointment and they were booked too. I'm trying to be there for him as much as I can, and I'm tyring to ease his mind but I'm limted on what I can do. I'm hoping he gets my mail soon!! I'm tired of getting letters that say stupid stuff!!!

I shouldn't complain because he is writing but dayum he's making me cry lol!!! He's not writing mean things I can just tell that he is really hurting.

Can anyone tell me if CA ST Prison LAC Lancaster accepts the electronic letter? And how does it work? Any information would greatly be appreciated.

11-18-2008, 05:52 PM
I've moved this to the mail thread - please look for an existing thread on your topic and post there. If you see no existing thread, then it's fine to start a new one.

You need to go to JPay.com and try - that's the best way to see if each prison is accepting the electronic mail. Last I heard JPay had stopped the electronic mail, but it was supposedly temporary, so give it a try and see how it goes.

And welcome to PTO!
