View Full Version : ADC Website has a new feature
sandtrob 02-14-2008, 12:31 PM HAs anyone else been to the ADC website to add money to an account. Now they have a place for GTL payments too! Does that mean he can use that instead of me putting money on my phone? And that GTL won't charge me a service fee of $9.50 each time I add minutes???
Bat59 02-14-2008, 02:58 PM They tried that feature several months ago and it ended up taking a lot of people's money with no minutes added to their account. I hope it works better this time. I did go and add the minimum amount to try. It is definitely quicker than calling GTL. Someone else can probably tell us if the GTL processing fee is waived this way. I know for awhile I sent checks in and it was but then they did not apply one of those to out account so I have been very careful about my dealings with them.
sandtrob 02-14-2008, 03:18 PM Thanks Bat! So, does it add minutes to your phone, or he has a pre-paid thing from his side of things?
pearl_rose1986 02-21-2008, 12:07 AM I was wondering the same thing. I saw this feature and asked my hubby. He said he was told (I sure love how these stories get around that's why I told him I would ask someone on here) that when you add money to the phone account online that it's a pre-paid service on their end, but that they would still be able to call on that money. I wanted to try it cause it would be faster than waiting for GTL to call me back in two hours and cheaper too, but I wasn't sure. Did it work for you guys?
Bat59 02-21-2008, 06:38 AM I am happy to say that it worked! It took about 4 days for the money to actually land in her account but it finally did and the good thing was she got the full amount of money less the standard processing fee normally applied through the ADC website, not the larger GTL fee. Evidently she has to press a different number on the phone when calling while using this money and the money is not dedicated to one phone number like it is through GTL. This money could be used for any number that is on their approval list. I hope it continues work as it is a lot easier than going through GTL plus it is cheaper.
I just did it too. I made a 140 dollar transaction to his commissary and a 50 dollar transaction to the pre pay phone, and it only cost me 9 dollars transaction fee for both. :) Usually the phone alone takes that much!!!!!
sandtrob 02-21-2008, 06:36 PM This is awesome information. Hubby called the other night and I was thinking the GTL pre-pay was attached to my checking through my check card. When I used his old card to try and put money on when he called it ended up cutting us off (this was the first call in almost 6 weeks!) because it is attached to my particular card. Argh! So this will make life easier and cheaper... and Lord knows we could all use that!
sandtrob 02-24-2008, 10:18 AM So, I asked hubby about this and he said no one on that end has heard of this? I wonder if they get the info once they have money on their account? ANyone done this with a loved one at Malvern (Ouachita River) Unit?

I do not know about Malvern. It showed up on my wife's voucher as a deposit under "phone". She evidently presses a different number when calling using this account. Good Luck!

Bat has it worked for her? My son said it told him he had 52 dollars on his pre pay but when he pushed the number it told him it would never ring on my end. He had to call back using the GTL prepay.
Bat59 02-25-2008, 01:08 PM Yes it has worked. I have put money in three times now, small amounts the first two just to try and it works fine. I will ask her what she has to do to use this.
It is working for him now too. I think it takes longer for the money to post thru the ADC website prepay account then through GTL, but the transaction fee is much cheaper. I think I saved enough for one extra phone call. :)
sandtrob 02-26-2008, 10:17 PM So, did the "instructions" come to them when they get the notice they have money on the account? I was figuring that with the calls at $10.70 each and GTL charging $4.50 on every $25... I would get an extra call as well!
Yes. In fact I posted his commissary and phone money at the same time. He got the paper showing his phone prepay account before the commissary money showed up. Why are your calls so high sandrob? Oh you are out of state right? (sorry if you had already told me this, my memory is getting so bad)
When he calls it tells him on his end how much money is in the account. I never hear it on my end of the phone call like I did through GTL advanced pay.
Just read your post over and realized I misunderstood. He knew how to use the prepay. I think it gave him the option when he went to make the call. You know like to make a prepay call from your inmate prepay account push 3.............
sandtrob 02-29-2008, 08:10 PM I haven't responded because I lost this thread! :)
I am out of state. I guess the further away you are the more they cost. It's a shame when a friend of mine can call his parents in Austria for free and we are paying 44 cents a minute!
I will give hubby this info when I talk to him this weekend. It is worth a try!
pearl_rose1986 03-01-2008, 08:36 PM glad you guys say this works. I put money on my husband's account and phone on Friday so we'll see. I was really worried so that's why I didn't put much. How long normally does it take for them to be able to use the phone account money?
Bat59 03-02-2008, 06:08 AM Mine has been going in normally in 24-48 hours unless on a Friday when it will be early the next week. I have used it four times now and the last I went ahead and put in enough for two weeks and it has all gone in and been available. Good Luck!
pearl_rose1986 03-04-2008, 10:39 PM Glad to say it worked!! WOO HOO!! He called me and I was so happy! So glad this works, now I don't have to be charged so much over the phone!

Go to this link: https://www.ark.org/doc/inmatebanking/index.php
Enter his ADC#, you will enter the amount you want to put on his prepaid phone account and your credit/debit card information. Your husband can then use this money to call any number on his approved list. There is a 5% fee for the service but still cheaper than paying GTL direct.
If you havent looked around, the ADC website has lots of useful information including a family guide.
Good Luck!
missinghim23 03-05-2008, 02:40 PM ADC is only for inmates in OK ..right?
sandtrob 03-05-2008, 03:15 PM No sweetie. ADC stands for ARKANSAS Dept. of Corrections. Is your loved one incarcerated Arkansas or Oklahoma? If OK you will want to check out the OK forum where people there can help you even better.
sandtrob 03-06-2008, 07:06 AM WOHOO! Hubby called last night using the money I put on his phone account through the website! We will end up with an extra call a month now!
Rickelle 04-12-2008, 10:42 PM What is the procedure to get set up with the pre phone pay. I would like to set my husband an account up so that he can call home
