Hey everyone..this is my first time on this site and from reading the entries made, it has already been extremlly helpfull...but i read all the info on how under wire bras are a no-no...and everything else but do you just go through the metal detector, or do they physically search you there???...my boyfriend is there and i am very worried, he has spent the last year and half almost 2 years at Wyoming Correctional Facility, and now he is at Gowanda for the 6 month program...and he is in something called the barn...and it creeps me out...he made it sound like a pig pen with beds..but if someone oculd get back to me about the search thing i would appresciate very much..THANK YOU...

First of all WELCOME to PTO

I cant help you out myself, but I do know of another PTO member who can. I'm sure that there will be someone along soon, but just in case you can probably PM caprione.

They do not physically search you. You remove your coat, empty your pockets, and give them everything you are taking into the visit room (money, pictures, etc). Those are the things they search.

The Barn??? what the hell?? Gowanda does not have anything remotely compard to a barn. LOL. I am sure it's probably one of the units and thats the what they refer it too.
At least you are close to Gowanda. I use to go thur Orchard Park before i found out the easy way to get there.
any other questions, feel free to contact me ok

take care

Well, from what my boyfriend told me about the barn, is that its a large room with 8 beds on eachside with no walls between them...and im not to sure on what the program is called that he is in, but all that i do know is that it is only 6 months long. And if he passes it he could come home...

that would be neat, if it turned out hanksmom's husband and your guy were in the same place...support sort of.
Well, i know when my husband first went there, he was in a 40 man dorm, it pretty much freaked him out. He said it was like an army barracks. He was so used to being able to have his quiet and his meditation time and all that fell apart. It added tot he stress of that place.
He was sent TO Wyoming from Gowanda(instead of back to Collins where he was supposed to be returned) and has been at Wyoming for 2 1/2 months now. Bunked up in a tiny area that doesn't even have a desk or a chair. He has to stand to write to me cause he's got the top bunk so cna't sit up there.
BUT, I was out there yesterday and we had a wonderful visit and a whole bunch of laughs and fun!!

I'm glad you had a wonderful visit Caprione. I won't be going until the end of Nov. for his birthday. I miss him something awful and that all he keeps saying to me.

wow, i guess tito is considered pretty lucky that he is in a 2 man dorm. I am going to have to ask him if he knows about the barn,

my husband said that he was just moved out of there. They just moved everybody around. Now they are in a different building. he says it is a big wide open dorm where they offer either the asat program or the casat program. he also says that he feels like he is in the looney bin because he is about to lose his mind. I just say keep being good and maybe you will be out of their soon.
