I can tell you that it is in the middle of nowhere and u almost have to rent a car to get past the guards at the gate! My mom and I got turned around two times so next time I'm going in my own car and she the same to see how that works

Just clean out the car before you go just like if your gonna sell it. Nothing but you. No cameras, no nothing. I even emptied out the glove box. We got turned out more times than let in because of something stupid being in the car. They do a veh search at the entrance gate, before you ever make it to the grounds...

I visited SMCI yesterday and the only problem I had was I had no problem getting in the gate. I told the guard not to be so hard on me because it was my first visit. He asked me if I had any weapons, ectasy or f meth. Lol... but he searched the car and trunk and my purse which was in the trunk. After I got inside I had to walk back to the car and leave my watch but all in all it was as decent experience as it could have been. The best part was I got to see my son and he is doing fine...working some and says he is being treated well.

Please excuse above typos.

I was implying the guards are very strict about what they will allow on the grounds and my mom and I have made to blank trips (5.5 hrs) To be on the safe side take everything out your car, no sharp or pointy objects all you need is you and your I.D. really

Lindapoo was asking for info about SMCI, not just visitation.

A side note: There is a huge sign at the entrance specifying restrictions as to what should not be brought any further on the grounds. As I have repeatedly posted and others have said, clean out the car even under the seats. The rules are strict to keep the staff, visitors and inmates safe.
