With regret, I could not convey each part of the Keichii submission into the Questionnaire 1 replies threads. He is aware that some things will have to wait for another time. What I'd like to do here is to take one particularly simple statement missed in the other threads and let it ride, here.
It might give us all a moment of clarity. It is just a thought. I'd guess a few members would like to share their's with Keichii. Give it a try.

-Thanks, --Life2thesequel, Channellor for this Forum

"Depression threatens many on the outside but for men locked away in a prison with no hope of getting out or even to ever do the simplest things like pet a dog, sit beneath a tree or take a swim or hear one's child's laughter. Someone who will never be able to walk in the grass with his shoes off or to take off his shirt to enjoy the sun. This really depresses many men and in Montana, unlike many prisons in the US, life without parole means just that---that we will never see the light of day without someone wearing handcuffs standing beside us. We have no hope on the High Side." --Keichii.

,,, a moment of clarity? How about a slap on the face or a punch in the gut!! I think for most of us until it hits home we don't really give prison a lot of thought ... in the back of our minds with a Hollywood eye, we all know it is not a pleasant place to be but, a simply stated statement such as this where everything we all take so for granted is brought in to the light of what will never be realized is painful to see and brings a guiltiness to experience in our freedoms ...

Sometimes reading the reality is so painfull. Yes it is true here also in Massachuesetts Lwop MEANS just that.. unless a miracle occurs which has happened .. but It takes a strong person/ and persons involved.. to hang in got through the motions. it is like the grievieng process. denial, anger, shock, acceptance than back again!! this is what has been true for me.

I agree with Cheena----we think of it as being a rough place and that we can't be with our loved ones, but we miss the finer details, like not even being able to go barefoot in the grass or take a guy's shirt off in the sun. In some prisons, you can't even leave your shirt untucked. You have to wear the same color and style clothes every day of your life with never anything different. When you go in, they don't give you a nice, brand new set of undies all your own----you get what someone else has worn. You eat the same food every day of the week----no going to the fridge and choosing. You can't see the stars at night because you're never allowed outside at night. Imagine never again in your life being able to see a night sky! Just the millions of little tiny things we take for granted are no longer available to them, in addition to all the clanging cell doors, people yelling, a light in your face several times to see if you're still there-----you have to respond to it so they know you're not just a decoy an escapee left. Anyone who doesn't think Life is a tough sentence just needs to spend some time contemplating the full deal. Death looks to them like at least a way out once depression sets in.
