MONTANA State Prison.,--from Keichii... Lifer in Montana
"Canteen is limited to $80.00 a week. Sometimes it comes on Wednesday and Friday and both of these days are $40.00 days or sometimes it only comes once a week which we are allowed to get the full $80.00 like on Thursdays. Men in the Max unit, Reception unit and the hole blocks are limited to what they can have. If you are in general population you may spend no more than $320.00 a month but you are only allowed to have no more than $80.00 in total canteen in your house at one time.

I spend on average about $80.00 or so a month but many others never see any canteen unless they are on the list for IWF.

The canteen is limited to what it sells in the way of clothing and you are limited as to what you are allowed to have as well.

Care packages are no longer allowed but it is up for review by the staff.

Books can be sent in from Barnes and Noble or Edward R Hamilton Booksellers. Family and friends can send in no more than 15 books and the inmate is allowed to have 15 different magazines from the outside but all material must not contain any nudity. Photos with see-through or thongs are allowed but no x-rated magazines or books. Books cannot contain pictures of nude statues or art work or babies in diapers or other nudity in children. These are allowed as often as the sender wishes to send them as long as they come from the bookstores mentioned or the publishers and not from the individual party."
"Appliances allowed:

1 color or black and white TV
2 storage containers and all the inmate's belongings have to fit in them. No more will be allowed.
1 bed lamp

I believe the feathers would be used for religious/traditional ceremonies or prayers.
