...to all those posting info here.
My wife just moved to Fluvanna "Reception Center" (gotta luv the name) from county, and I had no clue. Phones, visits, the works.
Finally, because of the info here on phones, got things set up, and just finished talking with her for the first time in a week!
Thanks again, and if anyone has any tips on making her time in "intake" easier, please holler.

FYI, the number for GTL (DOC department) is (800) 231-0193.
Probably posted somewhere else, but wanted to be sure. Make sure you ask for a prepaid account.

Isn't that first phone call wonderful?! And the second?! and the third?! and forth... and... !!!
This was a really nice post. I know that I, too, found so much helpful information, advice, and support here... especially during those early days when I knew nothing about anything and was scared, confused, and feeling very much alone.
Oh, and welcome to PTO!! :)

Yep, I think we have all been there. Then you learn how it works and can help others. Pay it forward. :D Don't ya love it?
Intake is more strict than regular facilities and they limit everything. Put some money on her account so she can buy shampoo and toothpaste and feel a little more in control of her situation. Send letters, cards, pictures. Call and find out when you can visit and then GO!! Nothing like holding them after the glass of local jails and actually getting a kiss that will curl your toes.
Welcome to PTO! Holler if you have any questions.

Oh, I'll be there Sunday.
It was rough. 3 months talking every day, then nothing. Had no idea why she couldn't call; had a pre-paid with GTL for county, got the setup call a week ago, then nothing.
She has money on her accout; sent that thru JPAY the first day she showed up on the locator site. She also had a balance at county, didn't know if that followed her or not (it does).
Even though it is a little rougher in intake, she says the food is 10 times better, and she actually gets to workout :) She still amazes me with her ability to find strength thru this; sometimes I'm a basket case
I was recently released from FCCW after 9 1/2 years. Unless your wife wants to take advantage of the vocational classes offered there or has medical problems that can keep her there, I highly suggest she get transferred to one of the other women's locations.
