Kalinka, here is the link with Inmate Fund info from the MDOC website. Western Union should be used only for emergencies, much less to send Money Order and they post them pretty quickly.

if you wanted to send it in the mail i believe all jails work the same u just get a money order fill it out to him with his name and is jail/inmate # and mail it to him like you would mail his letters when i send money orders to my bf i always do the track and confirm from the post office so i can check online to see when it arrives at the jail and to track and confirm its only $5.00

I've used both ways to send my son money,and to be honest it wasn't (imo) worth paying the extra $7.95 to use western union. It only posted 1 day earlier than if I mail it in.To me that extra money would serve a better purpose in his acct than trying to get it to his acct.

The best way to send him money is a money order. You can't send it to the inmate! You've to send it to MDOC!

Sent a postal money order to my brother 2 weeks ago and it still isn't in his account! Is there somewhere I can call to check on it? It was mailed from a post office less than 30 miles from Jackson. I sent it just how it said on the MDOC website.
