Has anyone heard anything more about the parole board releasing nonviolent offenders? I have not been listening to the news (print, radio, tv) for the last month or so. For crying out loud, I didnt even know about the Calf. fires until they had been buring for 2+ weeks

I was just wondering, because it will affect some of you here, like crisslee, lam422, night magic(?).

Iv'e heard about it in passing. Heck I would wish this would happen. I would be one happy person.

I don't know anything particular, I've been out of the news loop myself (embarrassing for a former news editor...eh?) I will give a look see around the net and post what I come up with.

okay, i honestly didn't find much, except an article from the ICLU that upset me. i understand their point, but disagree because of very personal and strongly held beliefs. but i digress.

so, if anyone else finds out something important or interesting, please post it! i would love to read it.

They passed a law that went into effect on July 1st lowering the mandatory time down to 70%. You have to write a letter to the sentencing county attorney requesting his sentence be reduced. I've tried this for my man 3 times, and have been told no all 3 times. I even wrote a letter to the Iowa Attorney General and still was told no. I'd write a letter to the county attorney requesting his time be reduced. Hope this helps.
