I have not heard anything from my son since he called 2 weeks ago. This past weekend the visitation message at the prison said visitaion at the USP was cancelled until further notice. Anybody know what is going on there??

Hi,

I called this week and I got the same message so I called and spoke to someone they would not say anything only that visitation for this week was also cancelled. I don't know whats going on. I'm also worried.

Yes Hazelton Is On Lockdown For The Past Two Weeks.
After Calling Several Times, I Was Told The Inmates Are All Ok And No Word When The Warden Will Lift This Decision.

Thank you for both of the replies. It must be something serious to be on lockdown for 2 weeks and nobody is saying why. I feel so helpless. Praying is one thing I have gotten good at.

Just a note of reminder that "Hazelton" is three different facilities, When the USP goes on lockdown, it nornally does not apply to the female SFF, so dont cancel trips to the SFF just because you hear that "Hazelton" is on lockdown. You can call the SFF, as opposed to the USP, by usiing the 8850 number rather than the general 8800 number to get specific info there.

If when posting...USP, FPC or SFF is used in the title box, it will be more helpful for those searching thru post. It does get confusing for those not as familiar with the federal system as others.

is this a normal occurance with Hazelton to be locked down often?

No, not normal. But the entire FPC facility is up in the mountains, and if weather is bad, such as high fog, they can restrict movement at the SFF, for example, which may delay the ability of an inmate to get to the visiting room. Call 304-379-5500 for the SFF, or 304-379-5000 for the FPC, to get current info before you put your tires to the road!
Lockdowns at the main pen (FPC) occur more often than those at the camp or SFF, but are not common. One does not affect the other, as they are three totally different facilities.
