Good Morning! I am planning a trip to see my husband in Morgantown. I have kids betwwen the ages of 6 and 12. Can anyone recommend a hotel? Or just as important let me know where not to stay. I have looked at Hotels.com and all the good info there but just thought I would look for insight here.

Thanks!

Hi, I stayed at the EconoLodge in Morgantown last year. I stayed there because it was close to the Malls and places to eat, so that after visiting hours for the day were over I would have something to do for the night. I was by myself my children didn't want to go for the visit as it was a 10 hour drive and they said that they would be bored. You might want to check out some of the hotels/motels that have swimming and arcade room for the kids to do at night. Enjoy your visit when you go.

I forgot to tell you that if you tell the hotels/motels that you are visiting at the federal prison they will give you a discount.

I used to live in Morgantown a few years, I would say that back then the most reasonable place that was decent would be the holiday inn, I would definetly avoid the Days Inn, actually I think the name changed to Quality Inn now but if its on BOYERS AVE,that place was a trash pit...its the only place hotel on that street

I used to stay at the Comfort Inn in Morgantown, just up the hill from the FCI. It was nice and has a free breakfast (when I stayed there) - just basic stuff but probably helpful if you have kids.

I would recommend the Comfort Inn as well. It is the closest place to stay and they offer a discounted rate.

We stay at the Ramada Conference Center just off the freeway. Decent rooms and free breakfast. Tell them you are visiting a prisoner and you get a better rate. They are very pleasant to you. If you join the TripRewards I believe you get a free nite after 6 paid nites. They have an outdoor pool. In the winter there is an ice skating rink on the road to Morgantown itself. Watch out for football dates at WVU no rooms!! They double or triple in costs.

I just went this past weekend and stayed at the Comfort Inn. It was as expected. I didn't realize that it was a pet friendly hotel so I heard some dogs barking, but it wasn't too bad. They have an outdoor pool for the summer and an indoor hot tub and fitness center. Tell them you are visiting the FCI and you get a discount. The discounted rate for this weekend was $64 per night.
