PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
My husband was just served a warrant in prison. He is going insane. He is in Federal Prison Miami....he awaits deportation in May, but now we have this huge issue to deal with. I contacted a LAWYER who wants $5000 to help w/ his deportation & repressent him on this new charge! I really would go completely broke if I paid this fee. My husband actually thinks I can talk to the judge...but I know that is crazy. ay advice for me???? :(

Talking to the judge isn't a bad idea. You might also consider free consultion with a lawyer. Another idea is this, if you can't afford a lawyer but need one and a PD just won't cut it. Ask a judge for a pro bono lawyer. you may get one if the charge is bad enough or what he is facing is serve. To ensure the proper deffinsive they sometimes grant it. worse case say there is a conflict with the PD and you will be asigned a pro bono lawyer. The warrant he was served will have to be taken care of by the court, since he is already in jail there isn't much to do. but my advice is this to him: What ever charge is worse you want to take care of that first cause when dealing with the second one he will now have the other on his record. So postpne the lesser of the two. you can easily postpone by saying he is still trying to get a lawyer or he is waiting for a witness, anything really. But that is impotant....
