Would appreciate some info on the above topic. My husband is still at Millhaven reception since oct 2007.He received 3 years sentencing. His 1st parole hearing is in april.First time offender.

How does the hearing occur ?Is it like in a court house. How long is it ? He is to do violence program but hasn't started anything yet since he is still in assesment unit.
He did do Anger Management program when he was out in bail-would that be good enough if he doesn't complete his violence program in his new place.

Does anybody know where are the good half way house in Toronto?I hear there are private ones.

Thanx a million

Go to the National Parole Board website and click on "information center" and there will be links to all federal penitentiaries and photos of the hearing rooms.
(sorry, can't post any links yet)
Hope this helps

yea, I can't post URL's either...so start with www and cut n' paste the following: npb-cnlc.gc.ca/victims/ParoleHearingFacts_e.htm

Advice: don't be late and prepare to wait. A hearing officer will go through some protocols before the hearing and the parole officer can answer some questions about that. The length can also vary, so ease off the coffee and avoid making other plans.

With respect to the programs, check your husband's reports. There's a lot of variables that make it hard to say if Anger Management on bail would suffice...too many to go into here. They would be laid out in the reports that address his parole.
