My cousin is serving time in Kansas and I went to go see him today. I found out that he was placed in the hole due to having a affair with a female CO.:eek: He was placed in the hole on the 1st of Jan and she was fired on the 4th. She admitted to having a affair with him. He has lost 6 months of good time, got his level dropped to a level 1 and there is a good chance that he may be transferred to another facility. He was suppose to go to work release in March but lost that as well. His early release date was suppose to be Feb of 09 but lost that too. I guess he had strong feelings for her and she did as well for him. She could've lied on him to keep her job but she didn't. I was wondering what will happen to her now? He truly liked her and said that she was a really sweet and caring person. I was just thinking of her. Does anyone know what happens?:confused:

I have a friend who had an affair with an inmate.....but not for the State of Kansas. However, most states just fire the officer. If he gets shipped to a different facility, he may be able to put her number on his list. But on the visiting form it asks if she has been an employee for the KDOC within the last 2 years. She won't be allowed to visit him. She could probably just write him and maybe even get her phone number approved. Too bad for them. People meet in all the craziest places. If her feelings for him are real, she will just have to wait 24 months before they can visit, if he will still be in prison. Take care and good luck to them.

The law forbids any Kansas prison workers from having sexual relations with inmates.
So the officer can go to prison.

Just a few weeks ago there was a DOC employee that ran the plumbing department here in Kansas at the women's prison. I guess he had been bringing inmates contraband and had sex with at least one of them. He was on the news and they are charging him with rape and bring contraband into a penal institution.

It seems ike we ere in kansas have a lot of co/inmate shenanigans. Just think, the one at lansing, the one at EDCF Central and now the one in Topeka. Maybe it's the KDOC Water :)

Seems like the few times I saw female staff get caught with inmates they just fired em and sent em packin....never any charges although it is a felony crime....

In Texas, this is a felony and she could get five years in prison.
Your inmate friend got off lucky,he woul dhave it worst in Texas for this.

It is up to the investigators that did the investigation. If she admitted it, they probably offered her a deal that if she just admit it, she will get fired and they won't press charges on her.

I wish I could have done that deal on my crime..just admit guilt and lose my job....wow that would have been great...
