Do any of you own a snowblower that you can start and run yourself?? I want to buy one as I'm sick of paying the $ to get our driveway done but I want to make sure that it's one I can start and run.

We have a long driveway that's part asphalt and part gravel/dirt but has snow packed down on it already. I probably won't use it except when we get 6 or more inches of snow as I have all wheel drive.

I don't want to pay a lot but I just got a bill for $180 for the snowblower guy just for December... I bought a damn gas weed wacker last summer and can't start the thing so the only time I can use it is if one of my sons comes over and starts it for me. It's a feather weight. I don't want to be in the same position.

Thanks for any input.

We just got a Toro Power shovel 7.5 Amp Electric snow thrower, it works fairly well on our small driveways, It clears the snow with ease and it will last forever, but if you had a large driveway, pass on this and go for something with a little more power. You can look at this Toro 1800 Power Curve Snow Thrower (http://www.dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=78245&ru=290) , it has plenty of power and higher RPMs, and the exclusive Power Curve design throws snow farther and cleans right to the pavement.

Deb I know what you mean about starting the stupid weed wacker things. I must have had the same type you do.

Something that you might think of is when you are shopping for them is have them demo the start up but ask them to let you try it to see how manageable it is for you.

Hi Deb,

I have a Toro CCR 2000. It was bought for me my brother in law used off of ebay last winter after my husband was arrested. It is very easy to start (much easier then the darn lawn mower, but that's a rant for another day). I have a driveway that can fit about 7 cars (wide and long) and a very long sidewalk in front. Depending on the amount of snow we are getting, I can usually make it through twice before running out of gas. I believe my BIL paid about $150 for it. It did need a tune-up, but knock on wood, it's worked wonderfully.

Best of luck in your search!

Yay that's great! Now watch, no more snow for you this season; isn't that always the way?
