Remember how I sent those leftover cookies and fudge up to Mars?? Well, now I've really slipped over the edge and signed up for Weight Watchers online. I don't like joining things, but thought a financial comittment might help me stay the course. Which is better than a mental comittment for sending up so many rockets to Mars in disgust with myself!

Nathan called last evening. We had such a nice conversation that when the 15 minutes was up, I felt a bit cheated. He called back after he worked out on the weights. He's determined to get his body in shape while he's incarcerated. Well, that just made me wonder how he's going to like coming home to a mom who waddles and clucks from old joints? So, that's why the WW.

Anyone else on a mission? Care to share?
 <--- my idea of exercise!

HEHEH! Oh your post is hilarius!

I've never signed up for any paid diet plan. I'm too busy complaining about being a waddling lump. My diet plan and is spent at the spam and vienna sausage racks. My exercise plan is standing in front of the stove FRYING the spam and vienna sausages year after year after year.

PLUS I sit munching and watching those beautiful fit strong slim women on Weight Watchers on Tv.

True Confessions of a self made Waddler

MOM...What a fantastic idea Mary! I need lot's of support with those rockets, cause I just keep digging out what I put in! And the exercise bike I got??? Looks good, but it hates me! I got on, and peddled peddled peddled, I saw those rockets eye to eye and lot's of stars too. I got off it and thought to myself, "so this is the new 20's"??? Who the BLEEP said that anyway?!? Put me down for this mission, "we can do it, we're women"! (borrowing from our lovely Bless).
P.S. so happy you got to talk with Nathan, and all is well with him! :)

Ok Reggie now you made me hungry, again. Funny about the exercise bike! Let's melt it down into billions of cookies and cake! Slap! Oh the Mission, keep focused Bless, the Mission the Mission.

Oh! Marge Simpson saying that to her daughter Lisa was hilarius! Funny you remembered that! makes me laugh thinking of the scene again.

I get starved to death when they show the Nutisystem meals on the commercials, I definitely think there is something subliminal in those ads! Bless'um, we have the same exercise program going. I have the fittest wrists in Mexico. Ole!

Fittest Wrists in Mexico. HEHEH too funny! They're like all buff huh.

Is this why I suddenly start drooling uncontrollabley during those commercials? Geee!

MDF? Are we going to have to throw our TV's out the 2nd story windows?

OK Mary, I need to start some type of program because my son is lifting weights also and looking good I must add. I have started walking around my neighborhood and trying to watch what I am eating more that just watching it go into my mouth:) . We need to start a sisiter to sister pack and check on each other from time to time and see if we are doing what we say we want to do. McDonald's have started selling sweet tea and I am addicted and need a twelve step program to quit:) .

Great idea. We are such a great support system for each other emotionally so why not support each with the diet. :)

All of you ladies make me smile. thank you. :)

YES THE SWEET TEA..Oh my, I never drink sweet tea and now that I can get a 32 oz for a buck, I buying it. What's up with that. If you walk inside you can order the sweet tea and get unsweetened because you fill the cup but if you go through the drive-thru they won't give you unsweetened at that price. Not only are we clogging our arteries with the all those fried french fries, we add tons of salt to raise the blood pressure and make our bodies retain water so we can swell up.....and if that's not good enough, let's add a Big Mac 1400 caleries!!!!.

MDF I love the MOM.....

I have relatives in Ga and visit often so I know about that tea you make at home......my aunt is probally the main reason I need a twelve step program for sweet tea.

well as I slurp on mine right now, while realizing I didn't get to the grocery store, and ponder that Bigmac for dinner, sigh, I wonder why it's so easy to want to lose weight, but so hard to "get with it'????? sigh... and while we're admitting things (smile) it isn't just the not exercising, it seems I don't get much done period anymore! You should have seen my eyebrow last week! Yes, it was only one by the time I got around to plucking, and I won't even mention my legs. Oh yea, a real hottie these days! Lol

MDF1965
01-08-2008, 05:37 PM
Oh you all just crack me up!!!!!!!! Now we need to find a 12-step-program for sweet tea? OMG'ness, that's too funny. Ummm...... okay, I'll be the bad mama: Splenda!!! ya ever had it? It's good!

And I'm not waving anything near Bless'um! And that's how I was over the holidays! I made 2 batches of fudge and I think I scarfed most of it myself. THINK! I KNOW I did! ::::standing near my prayer book::::but as God is my witness, I did toss out all the rest of the candy and the fudge on the day I said I was gonna. Yuppers! I did it! And now you'll read in the news where a frantic chubb-o-lina was found rummaging through her trash looking for that fudge! It wasn't me! Honest. I don't rummage ... much! And I went to the grocery store this afternoon and stocked up on healthy stuff to make for dinner/lunch.

Tilapia!!!!!! have you had that??? Delish! No, it's not like the "Tawanda" cheer! it's a fish that actually is good enough to eat and doesn't taste like fish! It's a miracle! Even hubby was impressed w/ the flavor.

Okay---okay--- we're in this together! But when we're sitting in Oprah's audience and she is giving away pretty bras and new cars and applauding us for our book, some of us won't have to worry about where our knees are! Wait! That's not a Britney-ism. Awww, what's up with that poor girl??? She needs someone to grab her and get her some help! Where was I?? Oh yeah: fudge!

I'm going to see if Splenda has a recipe for fudge!

Later~~~~

I say we build a Parents with Children in Prison Comedy Stage. Starring MDF! She is a tough act to follow. She needs to go up last because if the audience isn't in stitches by then after listening to everybody here and the Featured Comedic MDF, we stuff them with Talapia boiled in Splenda.

Mary Moo Cow <---omg! too funny!

Mary if we end up in Oprah's audience clapping and the sign flashes to stop applause, will we be excorted out if our upper arms are still going at it?! P.S. If you don't find a recipe for fudge with spenda, I have one here somewhere and will dig it out for you. My hubby's diabetic and I have all kinds of great sugar free desert recipes. Just remember that just because it's sugar free doesn't mean not fattening, carbs pack it on too! Wendy

Let's not talk about gravity taking over and the boobs sagging and the wave that keeps on waving under the arms...Help me here.

Mom, it does too sound like what I see on the commercials, with the exception of DQ for dessert, but it does look as though they get something that looks like that for a snack during the day. I tell you, if I lived in the US, I would be ordering up some Nutrisystem. Does it come like Domino's within thirty minutes? I would hope so, I would pack on ten more pounds with the anticipation of it getting there! I know I could do Nutrisystem, I saw the foooood, and I want some! Wendy

That's it D'gal, we're talking diets, those of us that are not on one, and your are talking "supersize me"! I for one do want that recipe, in all seriousness. That sounds fabulous. Now if we just ate that without the bun, we could say we were on Atkins. I can guarantee the first time I make them, courtesy of D'gal's recipe, it won't be without the bun, I will graduate from there. It's my new New Year's resolution. Wendy

I want the recipe! I refuse to give up meat, especially red meat! No way, I have to have it....as for nutri-system, blah! My hubby can bring home MRE's that would taste better! Dehydrated meals??? No thanks, I'd rather be chubby! Ok, so that might be an understatement, FAT! LOL

Oh the disappointment Reggie, you must be wrong about the dehydrated bit, please say you could be. I had imagined popping in a Stouffer's microwave lasagna, or at least a lean cuisine. What happened to your show anyway, just check your pooter on the way to the kitchen and decide to check in to drop that bomb?! What the hay, I can't order it anyway. Speaking of hay, I might just graze myself on a little something and something right now, that I can guarantee will contain red meat. Wendy

It's shredded beef enchiladas aqui. I grated the left over tri tip from last night. We are eating later, hubby on the road and not due back til about 10. Picked up the fresh corn tortillas straight off the line at the little tortilla place. I live in a really pretty golfcourse community and right around the corner, not a mile, is the little Puebla, that has it all on a one stop mission as far as authentic goes. Right next to the tortilla place is the fresh cheese store, where I picked up the Asadero cheese. I cheat with the sauce and get the fresh daily made salsa, and build it up from there. They think I'm Julia Childs when I get that combo going. To beat it all, yes I had the left over tri tip, but the tortillas cheese, salsa, chiles and home made beans came to about $3.00, and I have enough to feed an army!

Good for you Ovietor, You are right though, what doesn't fall out will turn grey, and that's what's left after we're finished pulling it out. We're going to be snatch headed bald! We wouldn't be having this much fun with anyone that didn't know our plight though, we all need to lighten the load, and we are all in the best company. Can I get you guys another drink?

TBmom
01-08-2008, 09:14 PM
hahaha mom, hey who needs mix? I'd do a shot of tequila and suck a lime. Oh, that sounds raunchy, huh? Someone is going to shred me, heehee.

I'm out of lime too....:D

Sounds like we need to cut Wendy off. She is seeing her imaginary friends again and serving them our drinks! Ovietor hasn't got her first shot, I know I haven't had a drink, how about you Reggie? :D :D Sagging boobs, flapping arms and now gray hair. hee hee hee..That's reason to have a double. :)

Ovietor, I haven't figured this thing out yet, I just hit the refresh button every few minutes. Usually by the time I respond to a post, it's lagging behind...
Mom, lime shmime, do it real fast and it will go down... joking!
Wendy, well since your offering...

reggie42
01-08-2008, 09:20 PM
see what I mean??? way behind here...No Mom, I haven't got one either.

01-08-2008, 09:21 PM
If there's a trick Ovietor I don't know it either, I come back after posting and the party has gone on around me, HEEELP! Mom, Reggie is right, a bottle of SQUIRT is just fine, Reggie you've beeen listening to too many country songs, Jose Cuervo was buried a long time ago and never met Don Julio, or senor Traditional!

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 09:23 PM
Mom, I agree. Haven't got my first margarita yet, or a shot. Getting down right thirsty here. Maybe Reggie isn't passing them down.

TBmom
01-08-2008, 09:25 PM

reggie42

Wendy, Jose, Jack, and Jim are all good friends of mine!

wendy tyler
01-08-2008, 09:33 PM
Reggie, I am offering! I'm serious. It sounds as though Mom is experiencing the same glitches we are, here, she obviously didn't see Ovietor's post, but then I missed one that you guys went on and talked and laughed about. I'm writing my congressman tomorrow. Have to take a breather, hubby home in a few, and expecting some yummy enchiladas, I'll be back on as soon as he has strapped on the feed bag.

TBmom
01-08-2008, 09:33 PM

reggie42
01-08-2008, 09:37 PM
Haha, Mom, yes, and smoke too. Not easy but I can do it, I'm a woman! Lol Hey did you notice Dutch bailed after eating her enormous burger??? Right to sleep she went, without giving us the recipe.

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 09:40 PM
Guess I won't be getting my burger either.

TBmom
01-08-2008, 09:40 PM
You need to stop. I'm ROTF....Yeh, Dutch left us and Wendy our bar tender just left us for her hubby. lol

reggie42
01-08-2008, 09:43 PM
Well when Wendy comes back, we can get enchiladas. Ok, i'll make the drinks, all I have is Captain Morgan and Drambuie, or Bud light...less bloating. Lol

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 09:46 PM
Hmm. No drinks, no burgers and Wendy left with the enchiladas. What kind of party is this?
(well I am obviously behind with this post)

TBmom
01-08-2008, 09:48 PM

01-08-2008, 09:50 PM
Mom's got tequila! Sorry, no food here. Need to get to the grocery store! It's been a fast food kind of week.

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 09:52 PM
Didn't this thread start out to be about a diet? I think I'll go with the liquid one. One of each please Reggie.

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 09:56 PM
Mom, no leftovers here either. Did notice that you didn't share that blizzard. Hmm. No DQ either.

reggie42
01-08-2008, 09:56 PM
Lol, Yes, and Mary who started it, is going to be so disapointed in us! heehee
Ovietor, since you missed out on most of the snacking, and are alright with a liquid substitute, I will make yours extra strong, er, special.

TBmom
01-08-2008, 09:57 PM

Ok let's rub it in about the blizzard. hee hee hee. Just think I didn't share the calories either. :)

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 10:00 PM
What calories? When I got to this party there were burgers, enchiladas, DQ, drinks. I haven't gotten any of it. Seems to me like this diet is working.

reggie42
01-08-2008, 10:02 PM
Is it gonna be like a dancing/sweating to the oldies type thing? Cause I'm not so fit, and possibly could be slightly buzzed. I'm just saying... don't drink and dance, and all that. Lol

reggie42
01-08-2008, 10:03 PM

Reggie, did you get your margarita yet?

reggie42
01-08-2008, 10:30 PM
O, too funny...I was thinking the same thing, leave the drinks in case you get detoured....Wendy, we have missed you, did hubby like dinner? Did he leave some for us? Poor Mom, she wanted to dance and you weren't here, I think she said disco...

reggie42
01-08-2008, 10:31 PM
Reggie, did you get your margarita yet? Not yet, tap, tap, whistle, oh too dry to whistle.....

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 10:34 PM
OK so was it Mom that was detouring the drinks? Did she get these too? And she tried to convince me I got mine and couldn't remember. LOL

reggie42
01-08-2008, 10:36 PM
hahaha, see, I told ya, the trufas comes out! LOL...good thing I had my Bud light!

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 10:38 PM

reggie42
01-08-2008, 10:40 PM
lol, Wendy, what's up with these drinks? heehee, here ya go O, at least it's less calories since this is a diet thread. :)

reggie42
01-08-2008, 10:47 PM
I hear you, burgers to drool for, gone, enchiladas from scratch, gone. Smothered steak, gone. Margaritas, patiently waiting...tap tap tap. Wanna do a shot? I mean, since we're waiting....oh yea, and left on the dance floor! What's up with that? Was it my arms? I know it can be frightening, but sheeze, never ran anyone right off the floor like that!

wendy tyler
01-08-2008, 10:50 PM
Here's your drinks my thristy sisters. I had to sneak this one, only because I would like to appear totally comprehensive, he's just gotten in! Spilled my guts in 3 minutes flat so I could get back. Don't normally do that but the day hasn't gone normally either. And O you are wrong, there was food at this party, just try and tell my hubby there wasn't. Happens to be at almost 11 o'clock here, but there was food. How are we all doing?

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 10:51 PM
A shot would be great. We might want to think about getting a new bartender. This one doesn't seem to be doing so well. Very slow service.

reggie42
01-08-2008, 10:54 PM
Only 11 there? wow, I don't know why I thought we were so much farther ahead. Ever since I got here on the East coast, it always feels like I'm way ahead of everyone. It didn't help that the time changed ahead an hour too, not long after. Any who, way off topic. Blame the shots O talked me into!

reggie42
01-08-2008, 10:55 PM

wendy tyler
01-08-2008, 10:56 PM
I'm right here, I can hear you! You talk as though I'm out of the room or something! I made these extra stiff in case I can't make a quick dash undiscovered, if anyone comes back with a closet drinking remark, I shall be offended, and if I can't go undiscovered I'll make at least one more anyway. The day was long, it seems the night has been so short.

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 11:00 PM
Hmm. Hubby must have eaten all the enhiladas. Did you get any Reggie?
The margarita is a little weak too. Ready for another shot?

reggie42
01-08-2008, 11:00 PM
Wendy, Hee hee, oh your back? kidding! we love you!
O, clink, heres to new friends....

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 11:04 PM
I'll toast to that.
What happened to that shot?

wendy tyler
01-08-2008, 11:05 PM
I boycotted eating the enchies, the Margarita was in no way weak, if the truth be known I've switched us all to Vodka and squirt, so no one can smell it on our breath. Appearances and all. We may feel at times we've been stripped of it but we must retain some.

reggie42
01-08-2008, 11:05 PM
Ovietor, OOPS! Here you can have 2, seems I mistakenly had yours. heehee

reggie42
01-08-2008, 11:08 PM
Wendy, Is there OJ for that vodka? When did we switch?? Boycot enchilada's? Please, say it ain't so!!!

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 11:08 PM
So that's what it was. She switched drinks on us. So what is it that I'm drinking? What is squirt?

wendy tyler
01-08-2008, 11:11 PM
Clink! and Clink again, Cheers ladies, it looks as though it's us against the world right now, not such a bad army!

reggie42
01-08-2008, 11:12 PM
Yea, the soda squirt? Or lime straight up? I haven't seen the soda since I was back home in Colorado, where I grew up.

reggie42
01-08-2008, 11:13 PM
Clink! and Clink again, Cheers ladies, it looks as though it's us against the world right now, not such a bad army! Clink and cheers...Army of mom's, no force greater than that but God!

wendy tyler
01-08-2008, 11:18 PM
Squirt is a grapefruit soda, and by the way the only other thing I had in the house, so for now it's my favorite drink. Any complaints? I sure thought it would be a refreshing change to bud light that Reg started off with. There is OJ, just not in the house. I hadn't planned this or I would have been equipped. The Squirt, I keep for a friend that occasionally drops by for a cocktail after his exhausting day at golf, if he drops by tomorrow, it will be flat, or empty!

reggie42
01-08-2008, 11:23 PM
omg, like I said, I have not seen Squirt the soda since I was in Colorado,(takes me way back!!!) I don't think they sell it in the south or on East Coast. No complaints, you can't taste vodka anyway.

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 11:25 PM
No complaints. Just didn't know what it was. Apparently they don't sell it in the south cause I have never heard of it.

wendy tyler
01-08-2008, 11:33 PM
Who can't taste vodka? Whoever said that never made my cocktail. I send it back until I can! I came to have a good time and I'm not going home til I have one! Maybe Squirt has taken it's time in getting here to MX just like everything else, I never realized it wasn't a worldwide comodity. This time I'm not so worried about having a good time, haven't for a long, long time, but this is fun just to let our long falling out, ragged, grey ass hair down, and I appreciate it a lot. I thank you 2 for being here tonight.

reggie42
01-08-2008, 11:35 PM
I'm back, let me tell ya, when we moved into this apartment, it was supposed to be just until we got to know the area, or if we liked it, stay and move into a bigger place. Army life, anyway, so here we are a year next month, and still here. Too much hassle to move but still planning to...well it's only a 1 bedroom, which is really a loft, which is where the dang bathroom is! So up and down I go! At least I'm burning calories!

Ovietor
01-08-2008, 11:39 PM

I see that Mom is still signed on. Maybe she didn't make it to bed.

O, on my screen it doesn't show her as being signed off. This is an unequal opportunity agenda, I get the manana version just because I live south of the border. That's 2 things I'm going to write my congressman about. Oh yeah, does anyone know who my congressman would be? Cause if you do, I'll write damn it!

Ovietor
01-09-2008, 12:01 AM
All of the above.

Ovietor
01-09-2008, 12:03 AM

reggie42
01-09-2008, 12:05 AM
Wendy, I have no idea, but will try to help you research that. Tomorrow. Right now, I have to change the channel cause Nancy Disgrace is on, eewww. Wouldn't it be great if we could do that with real life? Flip, click, naw, scan channels...heeheehee

Ovietor
01-09-2008, 12:07 AM

wendy tyler
01-09-2008, 12:12 AM
Good for you O, just for one night, let things roll off your back, have a laugh, we are actually all laughing at ourselves, and at our own expense. We are entitled this much! We don't know what tomorrow brings, but tonight we owe ourselves a laugh. We'll all be pissing and moaning tomorrow, but be there for one another again. Let's just have tonight!

reggie42
01-09-2008, 12:18 AM
back again, had to get the coffee ready for hubby tomorrow or we might not be seeing eye to eye, lol. Oh he can do with out, but ya think he'll make any???? hahaha Eventually, when I get up, I will want lot's and lot's of it. Yes Wendy, it's all good, to let go. Have to. Just have to.
Pops-a-top (again)....

wendy tyler
01-09-2008, 12:19 AM
O, it's vodka and squirt, if YOU want to fancy it up, we'll call it a daquiri, actually if we add ice in a blender it is a daquiri. Regginess, kidding about the congressman, I really don't have one, for Pete's sake I'm not even American!

wendy tyler
01-09-2008, 12:23 AM
Mom has really signed off now. If it shows in Mexico that she has bade us goodnight, it's true. She's gone!

reggie42

I haven't lived in the UK since I was a kid, but always lived where there was a huge UK community, i.e. Canada, and until I was 18, the Bahamas. But my sons are American, my parents live in CA., the only family I have in the US besides my sons, and one of them is regretting that dearly! So who would my congressman be? I'm always using that as a joke, but now that I think, I don't have a stinking clue!

Wow, Wendy, what a life! I dream about seeing the world, and you have actually lived it, that's amazing! Well, I guess we should close this party down, Mary is going to have something to say about us wrecking such havoc on her diet thread. Sorry Mary! I will take my punishment with humble respect. Lol. Night Wendy, thanks for the drinks, company, and most of all the laughs! Take care.

Goooooood Morning, Girlfriends!!!!! Oh was that too loud?!?

:::gathering my med cart and my pitcher of WATER::: to pass out the aspirin and ice packs for the bumps and ouchies you may be feeling after all that dancing and sloshing of shots! I yam a nurse yanno!

Laughter is the BEST medicine! And let it be known: We do know how to have a good time! I think it's also referred to as coping!

You all are the best! I was laughing so hard the dog came up to me and looked at me strangely. Oh my! What a hoot!

I loved the 25 :yay: !!!  :yay: :fb: And was  at the thought of all those margaritas! I do so love them!

And I was thinking "day 3 of dieting and it bites already!!!!" .....until I came here and saw all the laughter and fun going on! Then I knew God was at work through me and you and felt good inside.

Have a great day, friends! :D

Mary, you can wheel that med cart right on down here! We were happy to keep Ovietor company, she needed us last night. Hubby was feeling a little left out, I think, but he is never ignored usually, he understood. I'm in good graces. Haven't heard from Reggie this morning, I hope she didn't trip over her empties!

You're so smart. Switch to V-8 instead of straight tomato juice and you could have your daily supply of veggies.

I prefer Gin and tonic. Not so sweet so it has to be low cal.

It's her fault we are all having hangovers today.

Hi Girlfriends!!!
Whose hand is that reaching from UNDER the table?? Oh, Bless'um! You could use a manicure, hon!!! That's what we need in here!

I have decided on a NEW & IMPROVED mission!!!!

I'm building a sanctuary in here!!! Yup, tear out this wall, put in a Bose music system with high definition tv - nice big one - with satellite dish so we can get 482 stations - and over here in my corner will be a chaise lounge all big and cushy! - the kind you sit in and melt into - and in that corner over there----> that's where the manicurist and pedicurist will have their station and the will work for us for free! ---> and the masseuse, well his name is Lars and is Swedish with soft hands and brings his own oils ----and in this area right here ---> <--- will be where Bless'um's bar will sit along with Wendy's margarita machine and D'girl's grill for those yummy burgers! Yup it will be the talk of the forum! Our own Chatterbox Sanctuary where we party hearty and what was that?.... Who is that whispering about our chef? Is that Mom? Oh yes, he's paid for, too. This is all high class! No expense is spared. And the hubbies? Oh, Wendy, of course, they can visit at any time they wish! Afterall, we're not snobs or man-haters! We're just needing a place to let it all sag...errr...hang...umm....no....be free!!!

We need us a chat room!!! Where we're all in the same place at the same time! That would eliminate 300 posts in 12 minutes! LOL

:::Looking around:::: Where can we find a chat room? :hmm: :faint: Zzzzzz!

What a sight that would be! Reminds me though when I worked at WalMart, they would throw soooo much away. Socks, underwear, clothes, petfood, deli, bakery, all of it. You name it. Come one, come all to www.pogo.com (http://www.pogo.com/) and let's go to a private (and presently empty) chat/game room. It's a bowling alley! Yup, we can bowl for free and fun. And the best part is we can all chat at once!

Check it out. I think you'll first have to register, but it's free and I promise, it's a safe site!
I'll be waiting to see if any of you come and we can have some fun.

Talapia Fish...question. does it smell fishy or have a wierd texture? Don't laugh, I try to do seafood, but the smell and texture, eeewww! If this doesn't smell bad, I may be able to do it, and finally lose weight!
I tried the pogo thing, didn't work for me either. :(

Reggie, I have to say I've purchased Tilapia Fish and I personally don't like it but then I'm with you. Fish is supposed to be healthy and I will buy it trying to like it. Cod I can do because it's thick, mild and firm and I got something from Fl once called Scamp and it was the same thing-thick, firm and mild. I think I'm ok with Haddock as well, but can't remember until I see the package. Tilapia to me has a funny taste, and most fish complicates things by smelling funky as well. I'm also thinking frying it may kill the health benefits, but thats about the only way I can eat it. Get something with thin bones in it, thin cut with black skin still attached and a smell to it and my cat is going to dine in style.

Spice it up to kill the taste.

Sounds like an Emeril to me. My dogs would love that one except Big Girl has a sensitive tummy and I have to watch the spices. Sh$t for Brains loves to chew infact the chewer the better for him. He loves exotic food.

Good evening ladies! Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I was good tonight and had an omelet. No blizzards tonight. :D

Hubby can fry some good fish. He buys Whiting from Walmart. It's in the frozen food. Box is like $12. He has only fried it and I'm not a fish eater and it's good. He has never baked it though.
So where is everyone tonight? I have been bowling every day now. I'm addicted!

I'm here TBmom, just been a bit down with what's happening at my boy's prison. A lot of unrest, due to integrating, I've been on riot watch for the past few days and staying close to the other forums that have more info. on that. Getting and answering a lot of PM's from ladies after getting calls from their guys. We are keeping one another posted constantly and it seems to take up a lot of time. Thanks for the concern, have a lovely day with the family. The weather is beautiful here too, I just can't seem to be able to cut the umbilical chord between me this machine and my son's prison. I'd like to promise to be at the bowling alley tonight, but I haven't gotten a lot of sleep and don't know if the ol' bod will agree with me!

I seem to not be able to get out of late. The dogs and I usually are at the beach this morning, I can hear the tide today with quite a storm brewing. The beaches are different here in Washington, you can drive (different kind of sand too) on the beach as long as you are back from the clam beds and stay out of the snowy plover(sp) nesting areas....so it is easy to head to Beard's Hollow with the dogs. We fish for perch there in the surf. We also fish for salmon on the ocean out from the Columbia River about ten miles. Wish we could all get together for a salmon barbeque.

We are having a break between storms, as our beach is very dark quite often here. The reason it is so green, we have everygreen trees by our ocean. I used to hate how it rained here, so moved to E. WA where it had four seasons with beautiful sunny springs, hot summers, snowy (yet often sunny) winters. I've learned to love our ocean again (like the ocean in Fl and MX more) but this is where my mom is in a home with dimentia and alzheimers so I can take her driving on the beach. Thank God she never had to know what has become of her grandson.

Wendy, I've never had cheese and clam chowder, I know I would love that.

Well we are not eating so healthy here, hubby is in the kitchen making his famouse mess, er, I mean biscuits. Planned on going to the store but not in this storm, so it's going to have to be sausage links and mac-n-cheese. Is it 5:00 anywhere, somewhere? LOL

Salsa hides a lot of bad food, adds great taste to bland food, and if you can't do anything else with it add a good healthy shake of cayenne pepper. It makes everything except cottage cheese edible.

On that rain thing, thank God it's missed us. We've had enough problems with floods in the state. We need a good break to dry out before anything else comes this way. Right now most has been to the north, but whats north can head south.

I found this really neat trick on another forum. I happen to like many versions of dried beans, but even though they aren't quite as good I now buy the canned versions of chick peas, pinto beans etc (to many left overs othewise). Anyway drain and dry off a can of chick peas, place them in a baking dish, drizzle with olive oil-wonderful flavor- and I season with garlic powder, Mrs Dash or some other interesting flavoring. Bake until they take on a little firmness. I find I like these as snacks better than some of the chips and things because they fill me up, it's healthier and I'm getting fiber.

Mary
OK, I just joined and this is my first reply. This is so cool, that there are others out there like me. I can so relate to the WW thing. I was on before but stopped going. I have always been overweight. When my son went inside last April, a few months later, he wrote me a letter. It made me cry, he said how much him and his sister loved me, and they had the best but took me for granted. He said now that they are grown they want to enjoy me for the person I am. He told me he would do it for me but couldn't. He told me he wanted me around a long time so when he succeeds I can be there and be healthy enough to enjoy life. He said if he can change his life, I can change mine.
How could I not respond to that, so I joined WW again in August and it has been slow, but I am changing my habits for life. I have lost 24 pounds, it took five month but thats OK. the slower the better and the more it becomes a habit. My daughter and son obviously were talking. I am so glad. So my son is my motivation to make me better. I copied his letter and keep it in my purse along with my WW stuff. He is with me always. Good for you, you can do it.

Thanks for the welcome. I have such a busy schedule (I'm at work right now, don't tell!) I will try and check in at least once a day, we'll see. I love the chick pea idea. I am having a hard time getting back on after the holiday, it was a little rough. I didn't gain anything but I haven't lost anything in 6 weeks. But I am trying to get back on track this week. The ww meetings help and tracking what I eat. It's the only way I can do it. Everytime I want to put something in my mouth I shouldn't or a choice of food I trya nd think "where do I want to be in 8 months when my son comes home".
Actually, sicne food is so comforting to me in stressful times it is amazing I have lost any weight at all. Last fall was hard, my son's case was in the newspaper and not so great info came out and he went in the whole for fighting (or defending himself against others who have nothing better to do with their time) and after that had to be moved several times. He is a good kid and has a kind heart so gratefully some others saw that in him and helped out. He seems to be doing OK now. The system just sucks. I know more now about prison than I every thought I would or wanted to. OK, sorry.........rambling. Ladies.....be the best you can be! Remember, very time you try and fail, it's one more obsticle removed from your path to success. If I can do it anyone can, trust me. Think Wendy had too many toddys and fell asleep at the puter.

Well, must put on the taxi hat. Will check back in a bit. Maybe some of those martini's or snacks will appear.

Ovietor
01-17-2008, 07:25 PM
Well, done playing taxi and come back and everything and everyone is still missing. Good thing I stopped to get my own snacks and some Bud Light.

wendy tyler
01-17-2008, 08:03 PM
Wendy is right here, I did make dinner for the hubby and make another toddy, then had to answer emails to my son's new penpal. That's right, I got my baby a penpal. He's excited to hear from her, but she doesn't realize the prison mail system and thinks she should have heard back by now. She first mailed the 8th, yes of this month.

So how are mine fine ladies doing this PM?

wendy tyler
01-17-2008, 08:07 PM
So now I sit here and twiddle my thumbs, I get it, you're just paying me back! I'm on to you two!

Ovietor
01-17-2008, 08:16 PM
Sorry Wendy. My puter showed you were still signed on and lost in space.
Have you gotten any letters from your son since the problems at the prison started? Good for you getting him a pen pal. I'm sure he appreciates it. I'll have to remember all these things when we get to that point.

I have graduated from chocolate shots to Bud Light.

wendy tyler
01-17-2008, 08:32 PM
I'm still on the voddy and sad juice. Unfortunately it's my last one, once again, I'm unprepared. I say it's my last only because the bottles empty, woo is me. Seems like a good night to have a couple no? OK, I've alrady had a couple. A couple more wouldn't have hurt. If we keep it up, I may have to go around the corner for a refill!

Ovietor
01-17-2008, 08:36 PM
I would have preferred something other than Bud Light. Beer just hasn't tasted very good to me lately. No liquor store very close and convenience store is just up the road. Have plenty if you want one.

wendy tyler
01-17-2008, 08:41 PM
I want one! Got a half of one left, but it's been a few days on the wagon and I want one!

Ovietor

Passing Wendy some Bud Light. No guarantees. They tend to lose something when passed through cyberspace. lol

wendy tyler
01-17-2008, 08:44 PM
I hear you on the bud light, I've never been a beer drinker, but Reg and my hubby both like Michiladas. By the way I spell it correctly and she doesn't! Problem is my hubby rarely ever drinks. Not problem, me problem!

Ovietor
01-17-2008, 08:49 PM
It's the other way around here. My hubby is an alcoholic. I don't usually drink much. Always have to drive and have the baby. But, I'm done playing taxi for tonight and baby is with other grandma tonight. AND it's my birthday so I'm gonna have a few.

wendy tyler
01-17-2008, 08:55 PM
O, Happy Birthday!!!!! Well you deserve a toddy or two. I don't drink much anymore either, like I said it's been a few days, but before that you never know how long it could have been. Seems lately I've been finding at least sleep after a drink or two, but I'm not doing it too often. The last night we sat up and I was drinking, I think it took me 3 days to get over it!

wendy tyler
01-17-2008, 08:58 PM

I know what you mean. Part of why I'm drinking tonight. I want, I need to get a decent nights rest and this usually does the trick. May regret it in the morning but as I'm only taking things a minute at a time I can't think that far ahead. hehe

He said "it's the middle of the week!" I told him it's your B'Day, and I'm staying on. Long story short, I'll have to make my own run around the corner, he's going to price vehicles while I'm gone, but I will be back!

We thought she ran off with him!

Duracell made some big bucks off of me. The thing didn't have an on/off button either. I finally put it in a box, forever. Now I let the fingers do the walking on the laptop finger sensor thingy window.

Finally got back on. My internet has been down all morning.
I invested in rechargeable batteries for my mouse.
Bless, the finger sensor thingy doesn't work so well for me. My puter tends to do things I don't want it to every time I touch that thing. Guess on top of being puter illiterate I'm also puter uncoordinated.

Hi O! I was so settled in last night for a hen party. We haven't done that in some time! I was so peeved. It just died, no warning, no nice announcement. I'm puter illit. too, and thought since the mouse had a charger, I wouldn't have to replace batteries. It's amazing what we went to school and didn't learn!

Well, my excuse is that way back when I went to school they didn't have computers. What's that saying, can't teach an old dog new tricks? This old dog is definitely having a hard time learning new tricks.

I think nowadays learning to use a computer is required in school.

Oh good you relaxed. Glad to hear that. Went to the 30 minute Glass Window visit yesterday. Turned into 15 minutes but that was good enough! Our fault, traffic, should have left earlier. We tallked fast motion. Like the cell phone commercials to save airtime. ha!

Now I have to recooperate for the next 6 days and it all starts over again.

I have an out of state question, if you can answer. Is it generally the same chances on getting a visiting application approved if you're not in the same state?

reggie42
01-20-2008, 09:18 PM
I would think so, in Tx we don't have to do applications, the inmate just adds whoever they want to the list, and it is usually approved. I am so happy for you, you got to see your son! Happy dance!!!! Frustrating about the length though, we Mom's are grateful for whatever we can though right?

Oh! That's great the process isn't as complecated as it is here. Thanks for the information. Yes you're right, 30 seconds is a blessing. I glanced accross to the contact visit waiting room and it was crowwwwded. yikes!

My boyfriend just asked me this morning if Into the Wild was out on DVD yet, not yet.

I sent a picture to my son from our local paper a couple months ago or so of Sean Penn sitting on some rocks at Beard's Hollow below Cape Disappointment on the Pacific Ocean near the Mouth of the Columbia River in SW WA. They filmed some of the movie here 2 1/2 years ago. My son could not get any books until he was transferred but wants the book to read.

He called this weekend and I have a unit and cell # so I can send him subscriptions, books, and I received his matrix list so I sent him his quarterly package. I'm so excited.

My 2 yr old grandsons b-day party, chicken enchilladas, friut salad, coolwhip and chocolate cake, hmm!. Back on track today, it is the neverending story.
Don't know anythign about my son yet. Today is a holiday and all the counselors are off. His is really good about talking to me, really nice. But I will have to wait till tomorrow. No mail for them today either.
HI there momofns, I am your neighbor in Oregon. and you guys are right, it is beautiful here. My son told me early on that it is so strange being surrounded by the wall and not really seeing the horizon, he really misses Oregon, the mountains and tree lines. He says you don't take it for granted, that's for sure. My son loves to read, maybe I will send him that book too. IN WA do you get to send packages? We can only send money or books, mags. Well, tonight is weigh in at WW. We'll see, it is iffy, the last 2 weeks I gained 2 pounds back and this last week was questionable. But tomorrow is always a new day. have a great week.

I have sent many books: How to Play the Stock Market, a young adult's Bible, an empty journal book, and Vince Flynn's books (the Mitch Rapp Series), "Arriving At your Own Door," and many others. Nate said he really liked the Mitch Rapp series (political spy thrillers). I try to vary them a bit and sneak a self-help one in there, too. He says he really enjoys reading since he has no tv and there's no common tv for them to watch. He has a cassette player and listens to that - even talk radio at night. I think he's going to come out of a prison a very different man. I'm hoping that the differences are all POSITIVE and LEGAL.

I'm also on WW, but I'm doing it online. I really don't like to get out much and my Holly goes ape when I leave her. (Holly is my dog- a Coton de Tulear) I've lost 10 lbs so far and have been riding this freakin' recumbent bike every day. Since I found out last week I have diabetes, it makes sticking to the diet all the more necessary. I feel great!

So have a good day, everyone! and a great week!
Stay warm!

Hey how are we to catch you Stevens Mom and MDF? You're going to be stylin in a bikini by summer. woohoo!

Taebo was fun! And addicting. But sometimes I did too much and dreaded it the next day. That was my mistake. Getting a partner was fun, but after they tried it, they avoided my garage. laugh!

We can send two books a week, I've heard, so the second book was chicken soup for the prisoner's soul. I had read that here somewhere and they also recommended when I was looking up prison books.

Steven's mom, we get to send quarterly packages once they get to the mother prison. I was afraid if he stayed at Shelton awaiting transfer I might miss this quarter as it is dec, jan, and feb. Then in March, I can send another -- they can weigh 15 pounds.

Oregon and Washington are very much alike. My son, unfortunately, is east of the mountains in Walla Walla. It is rolling wheatfields, fruit trees, vineyards (wineries) but I am guessing his view is of those tumbleweed growing fields, not too pretty to look at, although they should be covered with snow right now.

Yeh, steven likes the Stuart Woods (Stone Barrington series) Detective. I have been sending them in order so he can read the whole series. My daughter sent a Bible and I sent a dictionary and puzzle books. He likes word games and crosswords. I had thought of the journal but I wasn't sure they could have it because of the blank paper. I think I will try at least. I just ordered that book, Arriving at your own Door. My son will like it. thanks. I sent him a journal and a sketch book, I hope they let him have that. He likes to draw. God bless!

Gratefully we get to send as many books and mags as we want but only books and mags as often as we want. Now that he is int he hole they take all his things away so I need to send new items for him to read. Thats OK, I know he is in there because he had no choice, what are you going to do, not defend yourself. Oh well, it is what it is, right? Thanks to the newspaper.

Anyone who likes Stuart Woods may also like James Grippando, Steve Martini, Phillip Margolin and my favorite Jonathan Kellerman. Jonathan Kellerman writes suspense with a psychological tone as he is a Psychologist. One of his books dealt with Munchausens by proxy. The only one of his I didn't like was Butchers Theater because it has so many Yiddish words and I would have to stop to interpret from the paragraph what was meant.

A couple of others is Mary Higgins Clark and Janet Evanovich. Janet has a group of numbered books starting with One for the Money. Her main character in these is a very inept bounty hunter who gets her car blown up, shot at, a funeral home burned. In the end she gets the person she is after, but getting there is funny. Not sure what guys would think but she is lighthearted and funny. Mary Higgens Clark I think guys would like.

tigrldy

It's a type of exercise. Billy Banks Taebo is the one that comes to mind. It has some pretty fancy moves, but starts out with some beginner lessons.

I just remembered Iris Johanson and Tammy Hoag. Sometimes I like James Patterson, but he had a couple with bird people that creeped me out and took to long to make sense.

For anyone who hasn't read Janet Evanovich though on a bad day she is just too funny.

James Patterson is one of my son's faves. I'll have a look into the others, it takes a while for the latest to get all the way down here. Look to the far right hand side and see where you're talking to! I will check out the other books, it sounds as though we have the same taste. Thanks tigger. Oh this is so great with book recommendations. Thank you so much everybody. Do you know how many hours it takes me to figure out and decide books to send? We're talking 2 days, 8 hours to make a decision. ha! I get so overwhelmed over something so simple to others. I ended up with 50 books in the wish list basket. Duplicates I think too. Oh what a mess. ha! Taking them in and out of the checkout. Back and forth. Adding subtracting. on and on. Hubby walks in. I don't know what bible to send. He got all stressed out that I was stressed out. grr! Finally I asked him to pick an NIV Bible. He did. One that is a Daily Walk. Took him like 2.3 seconds. hehe! Like a peice of cake. I envy that.

I should be more open to help more often in times like that eh! Why does it become such a personal challenge? Is it a personal challenge? I don't know. All I know is that it turns into a major project trying to order books. Laughing. Barnes and Noble is going to start thinking I'm a book stalker. The site is open on my browser for days. Sitting, doing nothing most the time. ha! They probly see me there wondering "when is this woman going to hit the checkout button already!"

Ok off to bed I go soon. Love you all so much! God Bless All of Us

Egadz! I just read my last post here. What was in that coffee? And where's the delete button?

Well I'm here to say that our Lovely Dutchgirl won't be able to be here as much as we want her to be for awhile. She emailed me to say her puter at home took a nosedive. :(

She'll get back on full scale Sistership as soon as possible. Brand new Computer for Dutchgirl, Brand new Computer for Dutchgirl, Brand new Computer for Dutchgirl...

Awwwwww......another puter bites the dust! I hope D'girl is back soon! She'll be flying through cyberspace with a NEW puter! I can just imagine the cloud of dust behind her....like the roadrunner! And she lives in AZ and there are really roadrunners there - so I know she'll be just like one! Whizzzz.....Zippppp......Whoooosh.......thuds to a stop!

Hurry back D'girl. We need you!!!

And Bless'm you are just tooooo funny about Barnes & Noble. I'm like that IN their store! I know people think I work there because I'm there so long. I love the bargain book section. I have a HUUUUGE bookcase crammed full - and I love Nicholas Sparks and Anne Rivers Siddons, too. (I'm not sure our boys would like them, but I sure do.)

I have a gr/daughter Emily who is like you, Bless'm, about making a decision........she's so cute! iced tea or lemonade, Emily? 'Ummmmm....hmmmmmm....lemme see.....ummmm......,' says Emily. I tell Emily I'm aging as she decides and we both laugh.....what a darling she is. (a freshman in high school)

Okay, gonna go eat some lunch. I'm accumulating so many diabetic/healthy recipes, it'll take me 50 years to make them all. But I feel great and my blood sugars are staying in normal range. Life is good.

Jonathan Kellerman has been my very favorite author for a long time. James Grippando has recently jointed the list of favorites when I picked up one of his books at a yard sale - cheap. One night a few months ago I was on line late playing around and typed in Jonathan Kelleran. I was checking to see if he had new material coming out and what his web site was like. There was a link to an email address so I sent him a brief note to tell him how wonderful I thought his writing was. About 30 minutes later I received a personal response from him and he was letting me know about a new book coming out. About two weeks ago I did the same thing with James Grippando. Same thing except it was the next day. They were both so gracious.

A Little Day Brightener For Ya'll... :)
Tips for Ladies in Year 2008!
1. Aspire to be Barbie - the b**** has everything.
2. If the shoe fits - buy one in every color
3. Take life with a pinch of salt ... a wedge of lime, and a shot of tequila
4. In need of a support group - Cocktail hour with the girls!
5. Go on the 30 day diet. (I'm on it and so far I've lost 15 days).
6. When life gets you down - just put on your big girl panties and deal with it.
7. Let your greatest fear be that there is no PMS and this is just my personality.
8. I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here.
9. Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself.
10. Don't get your knickers in a knot, it solves nothing; and makes you walk funny.
11. When life gives you lemons in 2008 - turn it into lemonade then mix it with vodka.
12. Remember every good looking, sweet, single male is someone else's ex Boyfriend!
13. Now smile and send to any girl wasting time at work, suffering from a hangover, or just suffering from work that might need a reason to smile. :)

Some things about life…makes you go hmmm….

Take a few moments to ponder some of the wonderful mysteries of life:

♦ How can you tell when you’ve run out of invisible ink?
♦ If practice makes perfect, and nobody’s perfect, why practice?
♦ If swimming is so good for your figure, why are whales so fat?
♦ What happens if you get scared half to death twice?
♦ If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?
♦ When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?
♦ Why isn’t there mouse-flavored cat food?
♦ What is a free gift? Aren’t all gifts free?
♦ How come you never hear about gruntled employees?
♦ What should you do if you see an endangered animal eating an endangered plant?
♦ Do cemetery workers prefer the graveyard shift?
♦ If you are a complete pessimist, does it mean you are positively negative?
♦ Why do people with closed minds always open their mouths?
♦ Is there such a thing as a closet claustrophobic?
♦ Before the invention of drawing boards, what did people go back to?
♦ Why does your nose run and your feet smell?
♦ How can there be self-help groups?

Hi Sue, I'm always happy when someone can feel just a tiny bit better, and really happy when someone is able to laugh again! So often we get so caught up in things, we forget what feeling good was like. These gals sure can bring on a good needed laugh though, aren't they just the best? Sometimes I will be in a cruddy mood, and than one of them comes along, and out of nowhere, I'm rolling around laughing and smiling. God sure works miracles! :)

01-25-2008, 08:38 PM
Thanks Reggie
God does work miracles. One of my many problems is asking God for help or putting it in God's hand then I turn around and try to fix it myself. I do trust God and I have faith but for some reason I think that I should be able to fix it. I was doing ok until something i read in regards to my son just made me so angry. When I get angry I just go silent. I will not talk to anyone because I am afraid if I start talking I will say things I will regret later. Sorry for going on like this.
Sue

reggie42
01-25-2008, 08:51 PM
That's ok Sue, that's why were here. I do the exact same thing, and can go on living in silence for days when I am angry. But like you, it's best I just keep to myself when I get like that. I think we have all mastered that trick of giving it to God than taking it back, than back and forth, round and round. Why is that part so hard? I guess because we are Mom's and it is in our blood, sweat, and tears to need to fix things for our kids. I hope whatever it is works out for you. Take Care!

OH! shoot I never came back here. mybad! haha! O, do you have a control button on the keyboard? The button might say something like "ctrl". My'n is near the shift button. Put the wrist action away for a moment, but you're gonna need it soon though. heheh! That's if you can find the control button first. I copied and pasted these instructions from help on the net. Seemed to be the easiest way rather than my version of a billion paragraphs! ha! If this confuses you, just type "How do I copy and paste" in your browser. It'll find places you can go for help instructions.

Highlighting Text you want to copy and paste
1. Click with your left mouse button at the start of the text you want to highlight.
2. Keep your left mouse button held down.
3. Drag your mouse pointer across the screen (Your mouse pointer will change shape. It will be the shape of a capital letter I.
4. You can drag in any direction you like.
5. When you've reached the end of the text you want to highlight, let go of the mouse button.
6. Your text is now highlighted.

Copy and Pasting Highlighted Text - C is for Copy, V is for Paste

After you Highlight the text you want to cut and paste
Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard
Press the letter “C” on your keyboard
The text is copied
Move the cursor to the place where you want to paste your text
Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard
Press the letter “V” on your keyboard
The text is pasted to the new position

Also......... you can hold the mouse left button down and highlight what you want to copy.... keep the arrow in the highlighted area........ then let go....... then click the RIGHT button and choose "COPY"....... go to where you want to put the copied text.... click the RIGHT BUTTON again.....click *PASTE* and voila.......
then you don't have to use that old control button....
or something like that....

It's confusing I know. The buttons are a pain huh. Just a matter of pressing them at the right time and it'll all come together. Soon you'll be copy and pasting this entire place. heheh!

I wish I could do MDF's method here. My mouse won't let me copy on the right click while writing messages. What a pain.

A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little ones chests, would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own hearts. Their eyes would always light up with awe, but she never got a response equal to four-year old David's comment. Gently she tucked the stethoscope into his ears and placed the disk over his heart. "Listen", she said..........."What do you suppose that is?" He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap - tap - tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin and he asked, "Is that Jesus knocking?"

CalebsMom, I love the cartoon. It says it all!
Here is my latest rambling..posted earlier on another thread but I'll post here too.
I have a heart full of love just waiting to give
A life full of happiness waiting to live
The child that’s in trouble consumes all my day
His brothers and sisters seem cast by the way
I remember the story from when I was young
The one that tells us of the prodigal son,
We all have a purpose, here on this earth.
We were hand picked by God, in this way to serve.
We are strong and yet humble, eternally brave
Waiting to welcome the one we forgave.
We hold families together from one day to another,
All of us drawing strength from each other.
The sentence we serve, is the future unknown
Praying our children will someday come home.

For all of you Love T.

Thanks Reggie, TGIF. I'm already envisioning my first cocktail of the weekend! My hubby drove me to work (i work only 5 mins from home) but hate driving in the snow. My son called last night, I shared the time and he got to talk to his Dad and siblings. He's still able to laugh but after 2 weeks still has no toiletries (it took 10 days for them to credit his commissary account with my western union) I Know, I know it's jail not the Hilton but how about some soap and a towel! He wasn't able to buy stamps yet so he has sent me a letter with a stamp he peeled off one I sent him he says the worst that can happen is it's returned. He also put all of the letters to others in there for me to send. Well it's still snowing here in Chicago land! Stay warm all...

Irk about the stamp! I thought they were allowed 3 yellow state envelopes per week? Sigh.

Irk! About the things he needs to clean up. Our son washes up to what he refers to as Bird Baths. Sink water and over the toilet baths.

At our Prison, they are allowed showers 3 times a week right now. The Bird Baths work well in between. hehe!
Money: Some use Jpay.com for deposits. I heard the online deposits go WAY fast. They give inmates notice when the deposit is made.

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions and ideas. I think the delay in his receiving money for commissary is due to overcrowding and it takes them that long to get him the receipt. These are the symptons of the illness it causes, but I think I already have most of these! LOL

Symptoms of ciguatera poisoning include nausea, vomiting; diarrhea; numbness and tingling of the mouth, hands or feet; joint pain; muscle pain; headache; reversal of hot and cold sensation (such that cold objects feel hot and vice versa); sensitivity to temperature changes; vertigo, and muscular weakness. There also can be cardiovascular problems, including irregular heartbeat and reduced blood pressure.

Just checking by the MOM post a couple nights ago and read what Reggie said about the fish. (Yuck!) Then the fried fish shaped cat food totally did it. Thought since the visual image of fried cat food stopped my run to the frig for the last piece of cheese cake it might be a great time to start my long overdue diet. (I've put on over 20 pounds since my sons incarceration and was plenty chubby before that.) It's working for now.

Wendy, too true..the Carnival Diet is Popcorn and Pepsi...here where I work they have installed a popcorn machine...free popcorn...
and since I am an engineer, and one of the engineer mottos is "We're cheap, go for the free food" ;) I eat popcorn for breakfast and lunch, and Pepsi is in the machine for .50.
I haven't actually lost any weight...but I haven't gained any either...so its a wash. I guess if I would get up from my computer during lunch and walk around the block or something that might help.

I dont' know but I think stress is making me lose weight but I am trying to do the eat every couple hours wether it be a half of peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a piece of cheese or of course the CHOCOLATE LOL
The massage theripist that comes to my sisters house every couple weeks told my brother in law she didn't even recognize me I have lost so much weight. ROFL I wonder if she was looking at the same person last time she was here. Because I haven't lost that much. LOL
But I'm working on it. I'm ready for the sunshine, walks and getting a tan, working in Bill's memorial garden that should get me some good exercise and of course running with my grandson has got to burn off some of these calories. :)

Deb, RAD = Rope A Dope.

Rope-a-dope is a boxing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing) fighting style used most famously by Muhammad Ali (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Ali) (who coined the term) in the Rumble in the Jungle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumble_in_the_Jungle) against George Foreman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Foreman). The idea is for the boxer to lie on the ropes of a boxing ring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_ring), conserve energy and allow the opponent to strike him repeatedly in hopes of making him tire and open up weaknesses to exploit for an eventual counter-attack.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rope-a-dope

And about that TV show. ..... I will be the blonde with the cutest 5 mt. old grandson, wearing my turquoise and pink high heals. I will be just a young 48 yr old swinging and hip Gramme. I will explain on this show that we are all a bunch of mamas. Some of us are good with dictionaries, Some of us can spell. Some of us adopt and foster children. Some of us live in Mexico with her heart in Ca prison. Some of us have served time only to feel the pain of our sons incarceration. Some of us fly. Some of us have a son David who shouldn't have such a long sentence. This show will have the highest ratings as we could go on and on. Most importantly have the audience laughing through their tears

The idea is for the boxer to lie on the ropes of a boxing ring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_ring), conserve energy and allow the opponent to strike him repeatedly in hopes of making him tire and open up weaknesses to exploit for an eventual counter-attack.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rope-a-dope

heehee, in other words, just lay there and get, uhm, er, pounded. LOL

George Foreman!??! I know all about this boxing thing because I have his grill.

Okay, I have a question for ya's. What would you do?? Hypothetically, of course.....

An inmate asks you to do some typing for him as a favor. You tentatively agree if it's not too complicated and won't take over your life. Then 3 envelopes arrive and you type them up, make him the 3 copies as he requested, and return them back to him. Then 20 envelopes arrive from him, all numbered, and he wants you to type all these things (about 6 pages per envelope) and a legal thing that I've (I mean SHE's) never seen before. She even attempted to type it (the legal thing) but doesn't have the software for such a document (a writ or something) and it would be painfully slow going. He didn't say how long she'd have; altho she has written him back and asked him -- like a few months??? But even then.... she is not a secretary, she just a puter keyboard puncher who has spell check. She feels badly for the guy who obviously wants this done very badly and has obviously been working tirelessly to get these things all written and prepared for typing. <sigh> She feels guilty not doing it, but garsh!

so....what would you do? hypothetically, of course.

Mary you are too funny! I'd say your friend would not want or maybe can't think she can even complete this task, though she'd love to do it, she might get overwhelmed with it. She might say "NO Stop the Madness!!!!!". But then swiftly start gathering up everything and continue moving forward with it to the best of her ability. Cuz it might make her feel really wonderful regardless if she ends up bald and crossed eyes. yes. I think your friend is absolutely a brilliant woman and can take on the biggest tasks and acheive them.

Mary, let me first correct myself, and say most units have a Law Library, or access to one. The Law Library is there to help the inmates, with appeals, writs, POA's, divorce/marriages, etc., anything legal. You can call the unit he is on, and ask them if they have a Law Library or if the inmates have access to one. Uh, hypothetically, of course. :)

"she's" still considering doing it......she's going to call her family attorney's ofc and ask the sec'y if there's a special software they use to type that official thingy up on... which would help some. All the lines have to be numbered and double spaced, I think. But I'm not sure. I mean, she's not sure.

(weird task, not a weird friend -- altho, when I think about it, we all need one of them, too)

I use to love when I lived in New Orleans. I could sit all day drinking coffee, listening to jazz and watching all the people.

Jill, Chicago is about 90 miles from us. It's a great city. Lake Michigan borders the east of the city and the parks along the shore are lovely -- and plentiful. You walk along and there are several marinas, plus the Navy Pier. Sail boats are out enjoying the gorgeous day and the river that runs through the city has amazing bridges crossing it every few blocks. There are many scenic boats that travel the river to admire the magnificent architecture. Then there are the museums, galleries, Shedd Aquarium..... it's just a terrific city......a smaller NYC for sure.... but still big enough to give you that zing that comes from marvelous restaurants and drop-dead department stores. I can just ride through the town on a bus and find it exciting! LOL I'm so easily amused. Then at night -- the lights!!! Wow! The skyscrapers work their magic. I've gone to the theatre there, too, and the festivals in the parks are just tremendous. It's a mini-vacation for sure -- even if it's to go for a doctor's appt -- love it! Wish everyone had a place to go to like this to get away from the real world for a few hours and get rejuvenated - even just having a Starbucks and muffin at a sidewalk cafe. Yummmm.

Here it is: Halloween season! The craft stores have been loaded down with holiday gifts and decorations for months now. It always amuses me how Christmas can be marketable even when it's hot and humid outside.

Soon it will be November. The beginning of the 'toughest season' of the year for many of us. The best way to get through it is to 'give' of your hearts and love to those less fortunate than us.

I want to point out that there's a Holiday Card Swap forum on PTO and hundreds of names are submitted for a Christmas/holiday card. I think the way it goes, you give them one name and in return you send 5 cards out. That's all. Some of the ladies send to many, many more. I know this will mean a lot to many of the gents and ladies in prison who might not otherwise receive cards from anyone. And postcards are only 27 cents to send. ;)

Love to all,
Mary

What a good idea Mary! In TX (believe or or not ) they do offer the Angel Tree program to the inmates...and give gifts to their children for them.

Lars hahaha! Reading these posts is a hoot, page 13 cracks me up! :D
