View Full Version : first visit to ctf
bubberlubber 01-04-2008, 12:12 PM hello everyone im finally going to go visit my brother. im not sure what to expect. i havent seen him since he was in reception at tehachapi . i have no idea what the visit are like at ctf north. can someone please shed some light for me?
teajai71 01-04-2008, 12:23 PM There is so much information around this forum about visiting. Check out the "how the line works" posts. It can be a bit daunting the first time around. First...depending on when you plan to arrive, there is the car line which splits into two (CTF & SVSP) once you drive onto the parking lot between 6:30 and 7:00. If you arrive later than that, there are the lines outside of the processing area (one for North & South, the other for Central). Be alert and listen for when your group of numbers is called...that little blond CO is quick and you don't wanna miss when she processes your number! Other than that, it's not too bad or too difficult. Hope this is helpful info!
bubberlubber 01-04-2008, 12:26 PM thanks again

Good for you and your brother, what was it like? I'm waiting for my approval and can't wait to go.
hazelt 01-07-2008, 11:32 PM That is wonderful that you got to visit and it went well. I have approval but am waiting for him to be off lockdown so i can visit. I was so scared to visit after everything I read. Maybe I can relax a little now. I live 8 hours away and I can't wait to see him . I have never in 21 years of his life gone this long without seeing him. It has been 4 months since I have seen him.
Don't be too worried about visiting--it's confusing at first, and pretty exhausting from early mornings/long waits, but it's really nothing to be too nervous about. You have to bring a lot of patience, warm clothes, and maybe some snacks, but for the most part people are nice and friendly and fairly relaxed there. People seem to be most intimidated about the car line before their first visit, but you can skip it entirely by getting there after 6:30 am. We're all friendly and will be there to help, I promise!

Here's something you might try. I suggested this to other women who are traveling from the south up to CTF.
If you book in advance, take a plane to San Jose, rent a car at the airport which would give you greatest discount rates, then drive south on 101 to CTF which is about 1.5 hours. So with the flight being 1 hour, the drive 1.5, you're saving a lot of time. That would be my suggestion. I think Level 2's are at Central but there are women on here that could answer that better than me. You could get a round trip ticket from Southwest if you book early enough, for about $129, or less. Check it out.
