I thought the criteria was to put the guys that are about ready to go home in these classes?? why mix someone (my son) who is looking at another 10/11 years in with guys who have low points, going home soon and don't care about gettin RVRs with some one who is 2/3 points away from C custody and is trying HARD to stay on B?
and HOW Theraputic is it to wake them on Christmas morning with " Merry F-ingggg Christmas morning A-Holessss???

Wow wish I had some answers for ya. I haven't heard from my son since last week so I hadn't heard about how they were woke up.I do know he said Thanksgiving "dinner?" was horrid nothing like it was in Wilkinson, and guards were rude then.

Griever... HOW Theraputic is it to wake them on Christmas morning with " Merry F-ingggg Christmas morning A-Holessss??? We used to have a saying that went like this "consider the source" !!! Also I WOULD THINK those close to going home would want to not get RVR'S also.
No idea why the classes are mixed with those going home soon and those not. However if it is a class my love one HAD to take I would be glad they could say "I have taken it" because some get down to the final wire and have not taken a court ordered class and can not leave until they take the course.
Oh well, that's me two cents and not chargin' for it. How long does your son have to take a class or course??
What a ROTTEN SHAME to have to be verbally abused and mentally like that. Makes me really sad.. Probably most doing this should be where our love one's are themselves but have not been caught yet. They CAN NOT BE good folks.. NO WAY..

hay hay Icare,
I did ask around and the program can last anywhere from 9 months to a year, Its not really the program that he has a problem with but the Unit you live in at the time. He says most of them don't have much time and just don't know the "unwritten" rules of Inmate behavior. He also was told, and I don't know how true it is, seems every case worker gives him a different answer, that the certificate for the class is only good for a year or so??? that means way down the line he may have to go through it again??? what's the point then doing it now? I expect its just an adjustment period, but he said the unit he was in , in C custody was better than the B custody Unit. well except for the visits. AS we all know, He will have to look out for himself and when you carry 19 points from charges, in certain enviornments, its hard not to get an RVR.
I think he did well to only get one RVR and has been in the system almost 2 years.
NOT to mention, if you count County jail and Rankin processing, he has been through 5 moves. Its a big adjustment every time. PLUS rumors are where he is now is not permanent,,, go figure????
Praise the Lord , they did get Holiday Packages this year, his was a bit late due to Unit changes, NOT of course due to the laziness of COs!!!
sorry, venting here!!

Glad the boxes got to them even if late. No what they are doing with him makes "no sense" to us but MAYBE there is a plan that MDOC knows that we do not. MAYBE this will help him in some way that we do not know about.
It is VERY HARD not to get RVR'S. I have noticed at a facility I am real familiar with that around the Holidays they seem to really hand out RVR'S for the least little thing ( we think to make many unable to have visits for the Holidays) but that is just OUR thoughts.. To be fair there are some NICE gaurds and some that do not need to work there ( attitudes stink)..
I pray that 2008 will bring a good year for them all !!!
I also understand the C custody /B Custody. My love one said if it were not for visits & canteen ( I think she said) that Max is the best for her because it is quiet and not all the noise and "drama". That is sad..
Well Happy New Year Wishes to all in case I do not get back with you all....
