Just thought I'd share a little poem I wrote a few years back. It's sort of a anti-carol. :D

Does it feel like christmas?

You know its that time of year,
When the shopping malls go mad,
Children running near and far,
Demanding things of dad.

But does it feel like christmas,
For the boy lost and alone,
He doesn't have a pa and his mum's away,
It's just him all on his own.

The turkey and the christmas ham,
Fill a table fit for kings,
We open gifts hoping for lots of glitz and glam,
We fill our homes with lots of lovely things.

And does it feel like christmas,
For the starving and the poor,
Who barely make it, scraping by,
While we want more and more.

When the credit bills start rollin in,
We wonder what it meant,
Our pockets drain, we feel the pain,
And forget what heaven sent.

And does it feel like christmas time,
For the soldier at our wars,
He holds the fort, defends the line,
Protects the freedom of our shores.

Bridge:

And did it feel like Christmas,
2000 years ago, when a babe came down
To earth from heaven,
To a stable cold as stone.
No Christmas time for this baby,
He's a pauper yet a king.
He comes to die, our saviour child,
Who'll save us from our sins.

So make it feel like Christmas,
Sharing with one's loved,
Forget us not those around,
Or the one above.
